Chapter 15: Arrival of the God of War

Adams walked out of the general’s room and looked through the secret manual of the Nine Swords of Flying Star, memorizing all the sword techniques recorded in it.
The Nine Swords of Flying Star had a total of nine forms and the swordsmanship was very intricate and complicated. From the first form onwards, the complexity increased exponentially.
Adams could barely remember even the simplest first form.
“Looks like it’s impossible to become an unrivalled expert overnight. It’s better to take it slow and steady. Let me see what other treasures there are in this base!”
Adams put away the secret manual and swept his gaze across the room. Following the marker in his vision, he found the warehouse in the base.
What disappointed Adams was that there was no food in the warehouse, nor was there any valuable military resources like magic scrolls. It seemed that even though the human army had retreated in a hurry, they did not leave any high-rank resources behind, much less severely scarce food.
The only things left were armors, weapons, and other equipment in the warehouse, as well as a massive amount of ores and Zerg materials.
Adams took out his mission list and compared it to the names in the warehouse. He found the S-rank Zerg materials needed for the two of his missions, as well as an S-rank ore.
“A pair of Void Centipede antennas, the skin of an Earthworm, and the Meteorite Ore. I’ve completed three missions, my gains are fairly bountiful!” Adams exclaimed with satisfaction.
Although Adams had already become a cultivator, he still needed to obtain the qualification of a cultivator so as to obtain more cultivation resources.
It was just like Vivian, who came from a family of cultivators. She could obviously cultivate within her family, but she still took the risk to participate in the coming-of-age ceremony. No one would reject more resources!
However, the difficulty of the mission list made Adams somewhat uncertain. He was uncertain if he could find so many S-rank materials within three weeks.
Suddenly, the system’s voice rang out in Adams’ ears, “Hint! The Host has successfully explored hundred markers. Reward system upgraded once! System is upgrading. Please wait!”
“Hint! System upgrade complete. The Host has activated a new authorization! Specific targets can be searched three times a day!”
“Huh?” Adams was stunned for a second before he became ecstatic.
With this new system authorization, he would only need two days to find all the materials needed for the missions!
Adams looked at the mission list again. Then, he cleared his throat and said, “Specific search, Evil Blood Spring!”
“Hint! Target found 5,000 metres away from the current location!”
Looking at the special marker flashing in his line of sight, Adams laughed heartily. This time, completing ten S-rank missions is really not just a dream!
Just as he was about to set off, he suddenly thought of Vivian and the others who were still waiting for him. He slapped his forehead and said with a sigh, “Look at this memory of mine. Rather than let them live in the wilderness, I should get them to move into the base. It’s so safe here! At that time, I’ll be able to rest assured and go ahead to complete my missions!”
Now that he had a target, Adams no longer hesitated. He immediately left the base and rushed toward where Vivian and the others were stationed.
At the same time, the mountain where Vivian and the others were at was once again surrounded by a sea of Zergs.
However, the Zergs at the foot of the mountain did not launch an attack up the mountain. Instead, they gathered at the foot of the mountain and ate the corpses of the Evil-eyed Centipedes.
Under Vivian’s lead, Garen and the others hid behind a rock at the top of the mountain. Watching the nauseating scene at the foot of the mountain, they couldn’t help but ask, “Miss Vivian, what are these Zergs?”
With a ghastly expression on her face, Vivian replied to him, “Those are the A-rank Giant Dragon Lice of the Zerg race. Their favorite food is the corpse of the Evil-eyed Centipede, but after they finish eating the Evil-eyed Centipede, they will still devour all the food around them!”
Seeing Vivian’s expression, everyone understood the severity of the matter, and their hearts couldn’t help but sink.
Garen tried to ease the tension as he said, “If these bugs are full, won’t they stop attacking us? Anyway, there are so many centipede corpses at the foot of the mountain!”
Vivian shook her head and said, “The unique characteristic of Giant Dragon Lice is that they reproduce while eating. The energy they consume will immediately be converted into the driving force for reproducing the next generation. Therefore, it’s impossible for them to be full at any time!”
“Th-this is too disgusting! Nevertheless, everyone can be rest assured. Even if they really launch an attack up the mountain, I can wipe them out completely with the magicl scrolls Big Brother left behind!” Garen confidently said.
Vivian couldn’t bear to dismiss everyone’s hopes, so she could only sigh and say, “I hope so! But I still have to remind you that the scrolls in your hands are very valuable. Every use of a B-rank scroll is equivalent to losing 1,000 kilograms of food for Adams! Furthermore, the Giant Dragon Lice and the Evil-eyed Centipedes are different. Their attacks are not dependent on their strong vitality, but on their ability to reproduce continuously. I’m worried that the number we kill won’t be as many as the number they reproduce!”
Everyone fell into complete silence. They could only pray that the Giant Dragon Lice would not notice them and left after eating all the Evil-eyed Centipedes.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. By the time the last corpse of the Evil-eyed Centipedes was eaten clean, the number of Giant Dragon Lice had doubled from the beginning. The swarm of Giant Dragon Lice that were as vast as the sea all raised their heads and looked at the spot where Vivian and the others were hiding at the top of the mountain.
Hiss!
Following an ear-piercing low frequency sound, countless Giant Dragon Lice began to rush up the mountain.
“They’re here! They’re really here. What should we do?” Garen, who had been consoling everyone just now, shouted nervously as he began to panic in the face of the seemingly endless Zergs.
Vivian grabbed Garen’s collar and shouted with a determined look in her eyes, “Calm down and prepare to use the magic scroll. We must do our best to hold down the fort until Adams returns!”
When he heard Adams’ name, Garen finally calmed down a little. He nodded and said, “I understand, I understand. I’ll use the scroll to blast them to death!”
With that, Garen took out a Pyroblast scroll, crushed it, and hurled it down the mountain.
Boom!
After a burst of flames, a large empty space was cleared at the foot of the mountain, causing half the swarm of Giant Dragon Lice to instantly evaporate.
However, the mountain-full of Giant Dragon Lice stood on the spot and trembled momentarily. In a split second, they had finished reproducing and managed to make up for the number of members they had just lost.
When Garen witnessed this scene, he could not help but sigh in despair, “Even if we use up all our scrolls, we are doomed today!”
Vivian couldn’t help but feel a little dejected. She lowered her head and murmured, “We won’t be able to wait for you to come back, Adams!”
Before her sentence even ended, Adams’ voice suddenly rang out in Vivian’s ear, “One Sword to Heaven!”
Along with Adams’ voice, a biting cold wind blew from the bottom of the mountain all the way to the top of the mountain. All the giant lice in its path were instantly frozen into ice, and were unable to move or reproduce!
Under everyone’s shocked gazes, Adams flew to the top of the mountain whilst stepping on the ice. The Winter Sword in his hand was extremely cold, and it was as if a God of War had descended before everyone.
“How was that? I came back in the nick of time, didn’t I!” Adams asked with a smile.
