Chapter 17: Natural Granary

Adams took out all his remaining food. With Vivian’s help, he divided them into eight portions.
Vivian, who had regarded fresh fruits as treasures just a few days ago, was already numb to it. She looked at the piles of fruits in front of her as if she were just distributing some ordinary food.
“Adams, this food can only last everyone for seven days, which means that we have to find food and rush back within seven days!” Vivian turned to Adams and said this after taking stock of the food.
Adams lowered his head and sank into deep thought. Although he had three chances to conduct specific searches every day, he was not sure of the location of the other mission materials and how far away they were from him. Therefore, he had to set aside sufficient time.
“How long can they last if we leave our food behind as well?” Adams asked.
Lowering her head, Vivan did some mental calculations. Then, she looked up and said, “It can last for eight days. If they eat sparingly, it should be able to last for ten days!”
Adams nodded and said decisively, “In that case, leave everything for them. Our goal for this trip is to complete all the missions, so the more time we have, the better!”
Seeing that Adams was so confident, Vivian’s gaze also became resolute. She took out twenty pieces of black wheat bread from her quantum ring and placed them together with the food she had allocated.
Vivian turned to Adams and said, “This is all the food I have on me, I’ll leave it for everyone as well. It should last for at least two weeks!”
Adams had simply left all of their food behind, but didn’t mention how he was going to solve the food problem for him and Vivian in the future. However, Vivian still didn’t hesitate to take out her food to support Adams’ decision.
Vivian’s heart was full of trust for Adams. Even if he didn’t say anything, this trust was unreserved!
“Thank you!” Adams nodded in gratitude at Vivian’s support.
The camaraderie between comrades went without saying.
Just then, Garen and a few others who had only suffered minor injuries had already done a brief exploration of the rooms in the base and were carrying a large pile of items over.
“Big Brother, apart from a lot of materials and facilities, we also found some information. See if you can use it!” Garen placed the pile of books and papers in front of Adams.
Adams rummaged through the pile of materials and sighed, “It’s a pity that we don’t have much time. Otherwise, we should organize the materials properly. We might even find some useful information!”
Vivian, on the other hand, said with a smile, “There probably isn’t any valuable information. After all, important military information is usually stored in encrypted electronic devices. Printed documents are typically only used to record some ordinary information!”
As she spoke, Vivian casually pulled out a piece of paper from the pile of materials and gave an example, “Just like this one, it’s the daily deployment map of the pioneering team and only records the daily missions of frontline patrol teams. It doesn’t involve any high-level military secrets!”
However, after hearing Vivian’s words, Adams became extremely agitated, and hurriedly said, “Show me that!”
Vivian handed the map to Adams in bewilderment.
After accepting the map from her, Adams carefully inspected every marker on it. As expected, he found the most extraordinary marker.
S-rank strategic location!
“Found it, it’s here!” Adams exclaimed excitedly.
“Big Brother, what did you find? Why are you so happy?” Garen and the others curiously asked.
Holding the map in his hand, Adams turned half a circle around and discovered that the S-rank strategic location was in the same direction as the Evil Blood Spring that he was about to go and gather. He was so delighted that he could hardly control himself. He said to everyone, “If I’m lucky enough, I might be able to find a granary full of food!”
“Really? Big Brother, you’re amazing!” Garen and the others expressed their admiration for Adams.
However, Vivian said very rationally, “I believe that you can try your luck to find a few fruit trees! But this map was left behind by the humans when they invaded the Zerg planet. It has been at least a few thousand years since then. Even if there was a granary, the food inside would have long rotted!”
Adams said confidently, “Not necessarily! Just wait and see!”
“Alright, I shall wait and see!” Vivian nodded in response.
Adams put away the map and said to Garen and the others, “I’ll leave all this food for you. We’ll only be back in two weeks. During this time, you can explore every inch of this military base. I believe that there must have been some good things that they didn’t take away with them back then. Those are your lucky chances!”
“Yes, Big Brother!” Garen and the others answered solemnly as if they had received an order.
“Alright, let’s set off!”
After bidding farewell to everyone, Adams left the military base with Vivian and headed off to explore an unknown territory.
A few thousand meters ahead, a deep chasm appeared before Adams and Vivian, blocking their way.
After comparing against the map, Adams realised that the mountain marked as the S-rank strategic location was the mountain opposite the abyss.
Looking down at the bottomless darkness below her feet, Vivian said with a resigned expression, “There’s no way out here, so let’s make a detour!”
Adams lowered his head and said firmly, “No! We must get to the mountain on the other side!”
Vivian asked, “But it’s hundreds of meters from here to the other side. How are we going to get there?”
Adams looked to his left and right and saw that the terrain to his left was much higher than the mountain top on the other side. He immediately had an idea.
“This way!” Adams grabbed Vivian’s hand and quickly ran to the left.
Vivian followed Adams to the top of the mountain with a confused look on her face. She was just about to question him when she saw Adams take out many huge spider legs and a huge piece of leather from his quantum ring.
“What’s this? How are you intending to get across?” Vivian asked with a frown.
“The legs of the scarlet spiders and the outer covering of the earthworms. We will use them to fly over in a bit!” As Adams spoke, he tied the spider legs together and covered them with the earthworms’ outer covering, thereby creating a simplified version of a glider!
Adams stood up and raised his glider to test the buoyancy. He then confidently said to Vivian, “How about it? Do you dare to try it with me?”
Vivian let out a long sigh and walked forward to grab the handle of the glider. “Do I have any other choice?”
Adams smiled knowingly. Then, he leaped down the mountain peak with Vivian, and with the help of the air currents surging out of the abyss, they slid straight toward the mountain on the other side.
“Oh my God!” Vivian couldn’t help but exclaim before they even landed on the ground.
That was because she saw trees grown all over the mountain opposite her and every tree was filled with solid fruits. Just like Adams had said, it was like a granary full of food!
