Chapter 3: Found a Treasure

The path inside the cave was dark and rugged. It was also a slope that led downward. Adams had to use the half spider leg in his hand to wedge the two sides of the cave so that he would not crack his skull.
Fortunately, there was a blue marker in Adams’ line of sight that was leading the way, allowing him to keep walking towards the target with precision.
After entering the depths of the cave, the space inside suddenly opened up. The surrounding walls were embedded with ores that emitted a faint fluorescence, bringing a shed of light into the cave.
With the help of the dim light in the cave, Adams noticed three skeletons lying side by side against a wall. Judging from their appearance, they were human remains.
The remnants of clothing on the three corpses resembled the uniforms of the human army.
However, Adams had no time to think about it now, because a huge blue marker behind the three skeletons was flickering in his eyes!
“Hint! The human remains are holding on to military imaging equipment!”
the system’s voice suddenly rang out, prompting Adams to turn his gaze toward the remains. As expected, he found a metal box the size of half a palm.
Adams carefully reached out his hand to pick up the metal box. With a gentle touch, the skeletal arm was instantly reduced to powder. It would appear that those humans had died a long time ago!
After getting the metal box, Adams swiftly found the only button on it and attempted to press it.
Swish!
A virtual image instantly appeared before Adams.
The image showed a man in his forties, who was wearing a retro military uniform and whose face was pale and weak.
“I am Moss, a member of the transport team for the pioneer group to conquer the Zerg realm. I was ordered to transport a batch of strategic resources to the frontline but was attacked by a large number of Zergs. I could only hide in the cave then. My two companions have already died in the line of duty. I won’t be able to hold on for much longer. I hope that the loss of these resources will not affect the battle. The human race will win!”
After the video ended, the scene before him flickered and disappeared.
Adams snapped out of it and was overjoyed. He did not have the time to mourn for his ancestors. He hurried forward and searched behind the remains. Soon, he pulled out a two-meter long and half-meter wide military transport box, which was well preserved, in the darkness.
“Hint! The surface of the box was once enhanced by a sealing spell. Because it has been a very long time, it has completely lost its effectiveness!”
Adams quickly crouched down and lifted the lid of the transport box. He found a pile of crystal-clear scroll-like objects neatly placed in the box. They looked very valuable.
“What are these?” Adams exclaimed curiously. He was still unfamiliar with the things in this world, and the things in this box seemed even more valuable. He believed that most people wouldn’t recognize them.
“Hint! Congratulations on obtaining two S-rank magic scrolls, 20 A-rank magic scrolls, 50 B-rank magic scrolls, 100 C-rank magic scrolls!”
Adams’ blinked involuntarily when he heard the hints ringing in his ears. An uncontrollable ecstasy rose in his heart.
Legend has it that some powerful mages could seal their spells in scrolls. Even ordinary people could use these magic scrolls to cast powerful spells!
“I finally don’t have to fear the spiders outside!”
Standing up excitedly, Adams stored all the scrolls into the quantum ring and placed them in four different compartments according to the rank of the scrolls. He couldn’t wait to test out the power of the scrolls on the spiders outside.
After placing the three skeletons into the transport box and burying them in the hole, Adams braced himself and headed for the hole above.
On the mountain road outside the cave, hundreds of crimson spiders were still gathered around the cave entrance. Perhaps they were unwilling to give up the food they had finally spotted, or perhaps they were determined to avenge their dead companion.
Bang!
Suddenly, an unidentified object flew out from the hole and landed in the middle of the spiders. It was a crystal scroll that had been crushed.
Sizzle!
Beams of intense blue light burst forth and spread outwards around the bodies of the surrounding spiders. The strong electric current instantly pierced through the hard skin of the crimson spiders, leaving behind terrifying black holes.
After losing half of their kind, the remaining spiders seemed to sense danger as they gathered together and retreated down the mountain.
At that moment, Adams sauntered out of the cave and stood confidently on the mountain road with a scroll in his hand. Looking at the retreating spiders below, he shouted loudly, “You’re scared just like that? Weren’t you pretty fierce when you were chasing me just now? Let me show you my prowess again!”
Before he finished what he was saying, Adams crushed the scroll in his hand and threw it down the mountain.
Boom!
As a mushroom cloud slowly rose up, the spiders at the foot of the mountain road were completely wiped out. The broken spider legs were scattered on the ground, and there weren’t any intact corpses left.
“Awesome!”
Adams snapped his fingers and gleefully started celebrating.
Just now, he had tested the power of the lightning spell on the C-rank scroll and the Pyroblast spell on the B-rank scroll. The impact was far beyond his expectations. These spells were like missiles that could destroy the world. With such a powerful weapon in hand, he could roam about freely in the entire Zerg world!
Adams, who was no longer afraid of any danger, was no longer in a hurry to go up the mountain to meet up with his companions. After collecting some of the crimson spiders’ silk glands, he began to explore the mountain. Using the markers provided by the system, he searched his surroundings inch-by-inch.
“Hint! There are F-rank Zergs, the Berserk Bees, gathered 100 meters ahead. Their hive is A-rank food!”
“Hint! There is an apple tree on the mountain wall. There are seven B-rank apples on it!”
“Hint! On the cliff ten meters below, there is an S-rank herb, the Dragon Soul Plant!”
Three days passed. Adams had only hiked about five hundred meters up the mountain, but what he got in return were all kinds of materials that filled the fifty compartments in his quantum ring.
Now, he no longer cared about the strange soup he drank before he set off. Every day, he ate three meals with fresh fruits and sweet honeycomb. Yesterday, under the system’s hints, he had even killed a few large Zergs that could be eaten. This was the first time he had tasted roasted meat in this world.
Adams, who no longer had to consider the dangers, gradually raised his standards of living. Just as he was about to continue collecting some food, a voice suddenly sounded in his ear, “Hint! Emergency! Five hundred meters ahead, humans need reinforcements!”
Adams decisively abandoned his plan and sprinted up the mountain.
This place was very far from the top of the mountain. If there were any traces of humans, they might be unlucky fellows who had fallen from the top of the mountain like him. After all, they were all companions who had participated in the coming-of-age ceremony together. If there was anything he could help out with, he would definitely lend a helping hand!
When Adams arrived at the location marked as the site of emergency, he found a man covered in blood, whose chest had been pierced by a sharp weapon. He was dying in the underbrush, and the ground around him was filled with traces of battle. There was human blood and blue-green fluids of the Zergs. It was obvious that a team battle had taken place here.
On a flat stone platform not far away, a slim figure was fighting a large number of Zergs. Her attire alone was enough for Adams to recognize her.
Vivian!
“Anthony… Anthony is definitely not the person who can bring us back alive… He is just sending us to our deaths…” the man in the underbrush uttered indignantly using his last bit of strength. Then, he stopped breathing.
