Super Spender - Chapter 764
Chapter 764: Chapter 758: What a Bustle
In 15 minutes, Finn Lewis got a taste of the aristocratic academy from Violet Davis, learning about who was attending. Violet informed Finn that virtually every family in the Galactic Federation had an heir or a direct heir studying in the academy. Upon hearing this, Finn Lewis realized that his life was likely going to be one hell of a roller coaster.
As the waters beneath gradually receded, the school in the distance became faintly visible. However, as the hovercar got closer, Finn was truly taken aback. True to its reputation, the school was clearly custom-made for those of noble birth. My god, even the school gates were ridiculously grand, reaching several thousand meters high and hundreds of meters wide. The entire structure was black, presenting a solemn and majestic architectural style.
Finn was left profoundly astonished by the gate. My god, who builds a school gate like a temple? People in the know would realize it’s a school gate. Those unaware may mistake it for some religious gathering place. They seemed to be taking things too seriously here. Nevertheless, Finn merely critiqued their architectural taste. Other thoughts were best left to himself. Indeed, as an imposing front, the gate was quite something.
As for the buildings inside, none seemed as tall as the gate from Finn’s perspective. However, thanks to the large area of the campus, many of the less towering structures sprawled out indescribably far.
Finn hesitated before stopping the hovercar at the school gate. Since a lot of cars were parked here, Finn wasn’t sure whether cars were allowed inside. Anyway, being the newcomer, it was better to stay low-profile. Finn forgot one thing though, if you want to be unobtrusive, you should not arrive in four limited edition Silver Wings.
Even before Finn’s vehicles emerged from the flying tunnel, they caused quite a stir below. Most students at the school gate looked up at the four cars—an ensemble of two limited edition Thunder Rangers and two Mad Scorpions. These four limited edition cars seemed to be a first-time sight on Blue Bird, at least in this noble academy.
“Who on earth is this? Who’s showing off four cars at once? Or, have the few rich ones of our school collectively bought these?”
“Ah, I remember now. Didn’t Silver Wing recently launch new limited editions? I think they arrived yesterday or today? Oh god, if only I could afford one. But this guy has four! Total extravagance. Let’s go and take a closer look. Although we can’t drive one, it won’t hurt to gawk.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! You may not have the limited edition, but you still own a regular Silver Wing. Look at me, I’m still riding the school’s public hovercar. Let’s just go and find out who the culprit is. I just wonder which one from the nine royal families it is.”
“Who else can it be? Probably Xuanyuan Feng. Isn’t he crazy about hovercars? Apart from him, who else has such a compulsion?”
The students saw the assembly of four hovercars and started murmuring. Many were drawn to the scene. Finn didn’t expect them to flock over their way. He then realized they were interested in their cars, and considering they brought the cars along, a crowd was inevitable. Finn had been the center of attention more than a few times.
He was quite accustomed to it; it was just that the spectators had changed from Earthlings to Galactic Federation folk. There was no difference.
The four hovercars soon landed in the designated landing area outside the school gate. Many students were pointing and discussing, although they all came from noble families, and some even hailed from the royal family. The limited edition Silver Wing cars were still incredibly lavish to them, especially since these were students who hadn’t inherited much wealth yet. Only the heirs of large families had the financial wherewithal to purchase such limited-edition cars.
Sadly, these so-called heirs’ fate was quite tragic. Due to their prolonged lifespans, many were unsure if they would ever inherit their family fortunes. Family patriarchs often had several generations of heirs, given their long lives. Cases of skipping a generation when passing on the inheritance were common.
For instance, the patriarch might not necessarily pass on his assets to his son and could instead choose to give his assets to his grandson, or even great-grandson, as they would be old enough when the patriarch was close to death. Therefore, among the many people here, not many could eventually inherit their family assets—they were titled heirs only in name.
These individuals were truly pitiful. Despite studying hard, they couldn’t be sure if they would eventually inherit their families’ assets. Many of the heirs in this place were not even direct descendants, but belong to a collateral line. Their chances of inheriting were even slimmer.
Therefore, for most people here, their lives were pretty fixed. The motto was, “Live and enjoy each day at a time.” As far as the future was concerned, many hadn’t even thought about it, knowing full well that even if they did, it wouldn’t make much difference. Some things were just beyond their control. There were ambitious individuals for sure, but not all of them had enough strength to back their goals. Sometimes, despite your ambitions, there was nothing you could do.
Though most of these people were older than Finn, their emotional maturity probably didn’t exceed Finn’s. When they saw cars they fancied, gathering around them wasn’t unfathomable at all.
