Super Spender - Chapter 767
Chapter 767: Chapter 761: Display of Strength (Part 2)
Walking in, the young man didn’t hesitate to make a crude gesture at Suleiman Cooper. Then, he spoke to Finn Lewis, “My man, I’m seeing potential in you. Hehe, promising words indeed. My name is Shaoning Locke, and may I know yours?”
“Finn Lewis.” Finn responded with a smile. As someone dared to kick a man when he’s down now, meaning that unity was not so solid among the nine royal families.
“Nice to meet you.” Shaoning Locke reached out and shook hands with Finn Lewis, who returned the handshake. However, Finn didn’t take his eyes off Suleiman Cooper. He turned back and casually said to him, “My good sir, could it be that you don’t have any? Or are you playing it modest and not willing to show us? But your entourage doesn’t exactly speak low profile, does it?”
Finn’s words had darkened Suleiman Cooper’s face further. He cast a glance at Shaoning Locke, then looked at Finn Lewis, before coldly saying, “I have no interest in such nouveau-riche toys. You’re only good at talking crap. I just hope you have substantive stuff to offer, else it will be too boring if you perish too soon.”
“Well, I’m really curious. I just came here for school, and someone immediately threw a fit at the school gate. We haven’t even stepped into the school yet, and some overly dressed peacock wannabe ran up and ran his mouth at me. Then he accuses me of talking smack. How interesting. Nouveau-riche toys? You may not care for it, but I’ve got it. What are you going to do about it? Isn’t your family prestigious? How impressive that even a native like me has it, but someone from your illustrious family doesn’t. Seems like your family is not that great after all.” Finn Lewis chuckled coldly; though it’d been years since he talked trash, Finn was still quite young.
Back in college, Finn Lewis had not lost his knack for trash talk. Given that the Rochefort Clan and he had broken off all pretenses of civility, what’s the point of mincing words?
“Very well, you’ve got guts. We’ll see about it.” Said Suleiman Cooper with a gloomy face.
“Back at our native colony, we have a saying…” Finn said with distinct emphasis on the word “native,” before continuing, “I don’t know if you can understand it, but it goes like this: ‘do it if you can, otherwise bugger off, shut up, and stop throwing tantrums. Don’t think I am afraid to mess with you just because you dress like a clown.’” After saying that, Finn Lewis didn’t hesitate to give him the middle finger.
Whether Mr. Cooper understood the gesture wasn’t Finn’s concern.
“Haha, that’s something I like to hear. Trust me, my friend, he’s all talk and no show.” Shaoning Locke instantly let out a laugh and quickly chimed in.
“You!”
After letting out a single word, Suleiman Cooper stopped, glared fiercely at Finn Lewis and Shaoning Locke, and then decisively left the scene. With Shaoning Locke around, he knew he couldn’t harm Finn Lewis. Even without Locke there, Cooper still couldn’t harm Lewis. Or to put it another way, Lewis’s boldness exceeded his expectations. He thought someone fresh out of a primitive planet, even if he had acquired royal status, should kneel and bow to them. However, Finn wasn’t so easy to handle. At least on the surface, he couldn’t hurt Finn Lewis. On paper, all royals are equal. Of course, the eight-star royals might have a bit more privilege, but who can compete with Finn Lewis’s high-ranking status? He knew the actual identity of Finn Lewis. Finn Lewis was not just any eight-star royal – he was the only nine-star royal in the entire Galactic Federation.
Although these star ratings don’t offer many practical advantages beyond some support in official federation policies and ceremonial privileges, Finn was a nine-star royal, limiting Cooper’s actions against him. Of course, while there were limits on what could be done openly, what happened behind closed doors depended on each individual’s execution and communication skills.
Comparatively speaking, even though Finn Lewis had a past conflict with their family, it paled in comparison to their conflict with the Locke Family. Consequently, Suleiman Cooper gave more weight to the Locke Family.
Seeing that Suleiman Cooper prudently left immediately, Shaoning Locke didn’t stop him, knowing that making trouble here would be useless—it was merely minor conflicts amongst the heirs. It couldn’t shake the foundations of either family. Yet if one could reasonably humiliate or even cause the death of their opponent, congratulations—what they’d learned in school was useful, and their family status would skyrocket.
In the entirety of the aristocratic academy, it could be said that it was a small society in itself. The various feuds between the families existed here too. While the conflicts amongst the heirs only took place within a school, it helped cultivate these heirs. This is why many heirs never graduated, but their families wouldn’t nag and kept providing funds.
So, whenever there is an opportunity, these people never forget to backstab each other. Seeing Suleiman Cooper leave, Shaoning Locke immediately extended his hand to Finn Lewis again, speaking earnestly, “Let’s have a proper introduction. Shaoning Locke, currently the 32nd direct heir to the Locke Family.”
“Finn Lewis, clan leader of the Lewis Family.” Finn Lewis also reached out and grasped Shaoning Locke’s hand sincerely. He was aware that Shaoning Locke continued interacting because they were enemies. After all, the enemy of one’s enemy is one’s friend. It’s a universal truth.
Even though he already knew Finn Lewis’s identity, or more correctly, suspected Finn’s identity, Shaoning Locke was still taken aback when Finn acknowledged his position. As a patriarch, he was the only leader of the Lewis Family, possessing great power. The difference between him and heirs like themselves couldn’t be covered by comparison. Of course, the strength of the family was also a determining factor.
