Chapter 49: What Are You Laughing at When I’m Talking to You?
Bastard!
Li Wenyan had almost blurted that out.
But, he suppressed his anger when he remembered what he was discussing with Xia Zhengguo just now.
Li Wenyan took a deep breath secretly and forced himself to stay calm. “Yuan’er is destined to become an actress. Besides that, you didn’t receive any proper training from any professional teacher and you only go to college for the sake of getting a degree. I don’t hope that you’ll be somebody one day. I just don’t want you to create anymore mess for me for the rest of your life.”
Tang Li lowered her eyes and smiled when she heard that.
Li Wenyan never cared about her. Surely, he did not know about the fact that the college had offered her a scholarship since the first year.
Even though it was just a cheap college.
“Uncle Xia has invited us over for dinner tomorrow night. Since it’s the weekend, you don’t have to return to college. Come home later.”
That was Li Wenyan’s main point.
Tang Li replied, “I have some other plan tomorrow night. I’m busy.”
“What kind of plan do you have?” Tang Li simply appeared nonchalant so Li Wenyan asked again, this time around, he had made the decision for her. “You must come even though you’re busy!”
She knew very well what was waiting for her if she went to the Xia family.
Clearly, Xiao Zhengguo and his wife adored her.
Actually, the arranged marriage was just a stepping stone to Li Wenyan’s brighter future.
She did not have any right as she was only a bargaining chip in the deal.
Li Wenyan’s phone suddenly rang.
Li Wenyan’s face became gentler when he heard Li Yuan’er’s soft and sweet voice. Li Yuan’er was wondering why Li Wenyan had not returned to the bowling alley. “I’m on my way back now. You and your mother go on ahead and change your clothes first. We’ll meet in the lounge area.”
Li Wenyan looked at Tang Li again after he had hung up.
He gave her a meaningful look. “The graveyard where your mother’s cremated remains are is going under renovation soon. Your aunt and I have decided to place her in a better place in Garden Feng Qing.”
Garden Feng Qing was a graveyard with the best Feng Shui in the capital.
Tang Li clasped her hands tightly when she heard that.
In her former life, her mom’s cremated remains were not moved to another place. It was placed in an old graveyard in Suburb Yan.
Eventually, the entire area of Suburb Yan was used as an industrial site.
Back then, she was still recuperating at the hospital for three months after the fire accident.
When she read the news, the entire graveyard was already torn down.
She endured the pain of her festering back and got up from the bed. In the end, she had accidentally rolled down from the bed and broke the glass by the bed in the process. The glass had broken into several pieces on the floor.
That fire accident had burnt both of her hands too.
Therefore, both of her hands were bandaged tightly. It was excruciatingly painful when she lay on the floor, supporting herself with her badly injured hands. Still, she crawled toward Han Jifeng in that pathetic state. She begged him to help to retrieve her mother’s cremated remains.
What she had received in the end was a pile of broken clay pieces.
Tang Yin’s cremated remains were lost in the wind and washed away by the rain. It was lost in the dirt.
Tang Li’s face slowly broke into a smile when she heard that.
Li Wenyan scolded her, “What are you smiling at when I’m talking to you?”
Tang Li did not reply to his question. She then said nonchalantly, “I won’t return to the Li family. But, I’ll go for dinner tomorrow at the Xia family. Just ask somebody to pick me up at the college.”
Then, she left him.
Suddenly, she remembered something else. She turned around again. “I don’t have any suitable clothes. If you don’t want me to be an embarrassment to you, please prepare something nice for me to wear.”
Li Wenyan’s face darkened from hearing how arrogant she sounded.
Bastard!
Tang Li slowed down when she had left the underground parking lot.
She stood by the road as she put a slight pressure onto her stomach. She felt a lingering pain in her stomach. Her lips soon turned pale.
