Chapter 24 You’d Better Be Careful
“Old Li still had some fighting spirit. He took his design portfolio and rushed to the boss. He didn’t have any academic qualifications and only had his design portfolio, but he still won over the boss. He could’ve been the design director, but he requested to be an independent designer, saying that he wanted more freedom to create, so the boss agreed to it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here now.” Hu Wen blew on the tea in her teacup. “Indeed, talent is the key to design!”
After Hu Wen finished speaking, she left the office pantry. Quan Meng, on the other hand, fell into deep thought.
If what Hu Wen said was true, then the person who replaced Li Fen to attend university was Quan Yi. However, this matter still needed to be verified.
If it was true, she would have something to use against Quan Yi if the latter came to provoke her again.
Quan Meng didn’t waste any more time and began to improve her design.
The Magnifique Prix competition didn’t require a finished product. As long as a design was attached to the entry, it was acceptable.
However, Quan Meng still used modeling software to create a finished product, but it still looked odd. What was the problem? Quan Meng stood far away and carefully observed the design.
“I don’t get it!” Quan Meng ruffled her hair, feeling a little discouraged. She had to admit that using her brain so intensively was making her feel very awful.
She stood up and wanted to exercise her body, but she was surprised to see Li Fen standing outside the window. He was looking at Quan Meng, but when Quan Meng looked over, he turned his head away again.
Quan Meng’s delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly. This was the third time today that she had seen Li Fen eyeing her studio, intentionally or otherwise. What was going on?
“Mr. Li, what’s the matter?” Although Quan Meng sympathized with Li Fen for being robbed of his university spot, the feeling of being monitored was really uncomfortable.
Li Fen looked straight at Quan Meng as if he had something to say to her, but he hesitated. “You’d better be careful,” Li Fen suddenly came close and whispered these words. “What do you mean?” asked Quan Meng.
“Although the design belongs to you, the product appearance can be copied by anyone.” Quan Meng understood what Li Fen meant. Someone was probably trying to use Li Fen to plagiarize her designs, and it was obvious who that person was.
“You rejected him?” Quan Meng asked him.
“Just because I rejected him doesn’t mean that others will reject him.” Li Fen only left this sentence behind. “Maybe you can add some patterns to make your design unique.” Li Fen nodded and left.
Hu Wen was right. Li Fen was really awkward, even more so than Huo Ling.
Li Fen’s words reminded her that since someone wanted to plagiarize, she could add some little secrets to the ring that only she knew and trip that person up.
Time passed quickly, and Quan Meng continued to revise her design.
Finally, it was time to submit her work. Sure enough, she saw the familiar name among the participants, “Quan Enterprise – Quan Yi.”
It happened to be right next to her name. What a cursed fate. Quan Meng didn’t bother herself with it and focused on her work.
Although she could live a good life without working with her current wealth, she really liked designing and the atmosphere at Shan Shi Jewelry. There were not so much office politics and everyone was doing their own work in a down-to-earth manner.
Finally, when the results of the competition were to be announced, it coincided with Little Floss’ delivery due date, and Huo Ling was also not in City B.
Quan Meng, who was worried about Little Floss, could only ask Hu Wen to attend the Magnifique Prix awards ceremony on her behalf. Although she was looking forward to knowing the results of the competition, Little Floss’ condition required her attention more. “Meng, don’t worry. I’ll help you keep an eye on the competition results!” Hu Wen vowed. Quan Meng didn’t have any experience in delivering a kitten, so out of an abundance of caution, she sent Little Floss to the pet hospital where she was often taken to. Three hours passed before she was carried out.
There were four kittens. Two of the white cats were older brothers that looked like Little Floss, while the other two were younger sisters with some patterns that probably took after their father.
Quan Meng took out her phone and took a kitty family photo to send to Huo Ling. After a while, Huo Ling replied.
[Take good care of them.]
[I promise to complete the mission!]
After a while, Huo Ling replied. [How’s the competition?]
Quan Meng didn’t know either. The competition results should have been announced an hour ago, but Hu Wen didn’t send her any messages. She had also logged into the official website of the competition. Other than the champion, all the other awardees were listed on it. The organizer probably wanted to keep it a secret.
[I don’t know. Wen hasn’t sent me a message yet.] She added a crying emoticon. Quan Meng really liked this kind of cute emoticons.
Huo Ling did not reply anymore. However, even after Quan Meng had been briefed on the post-natal care procedures and brought the cats home, there was still no news from Hu Wen.
Quan Meng suddenly had a bad feeling in her heart.
