Although he was also considered an expert, his level was far below that of a master like A Boat As Light As a Leaf.
He fumed in anger as he sat for some time. Then he snapped impatiently, “No way! I’m going to challenge him!”
Yu Chu raised a cup to her lips to take a sip of water. Casually, she quipped, “Actually you should have heard of him in real life too. He is Li Haorui, from the finance faculty at my school.”
Tang Mo widened his mouth.
He must have realized that there was no way he could beat him. After some time, he pulled his hair irritably. “Then… what should I do?”
“Don’t worry, I will help you.” The girl gave him an encouraging look. “Ah Mo, your looks are on par with Li Haorui. You just need to dress up. I reckon that if you change your style, you will be more good-looking than him.”
Tang Mo was taken aback by her sudden compliment. He scratched his nose uneasily.
“Really?”
“Really.” Yu Chu nodded and asked suddenly, “Oh yeah. What do you need the 500 yuan for? If it’s not for urgent matters, you should use it to change your style. I need to pay for my rent and I don’t have spare cash.”
Tang Mo was startled momentarily.
He had planned to buy equipment with the money. If their relationship was strained, he would have shouted at his sister and forced her to give him the money. However, she was now his ally and he suddenly couldn’t bring himself to be so nasty to her.
Yu Chu could read his mind. “Are you using it to buy equipment? Ah Mo, I feel that reality is more important. The game is not real.”
She sounded logical and Tang Mo hesitated. “Alright then, I’ll listen to you.”
Yu Chu gave him a kindly smile.
Kid, you’re too naive.
The next day, she didn’t play the game. Instead, she brought Tang Mo out. She dyed his rebellious-looking blonde hair back to black and replaced his denim shirt with simple white shirts. A pure and handsome guy emerged.
Tang Mo touched his hair, looking uncomfortable. He turned to look at Yu Chu and she gave him an affirmative smile. “You look great.”
The boy was stumped and flushed furiously. He murmured softly, “Ahem… You talk too much.”
When they returned home, the girl stuffed 100 yuan in his hands without Tang Mo asking for it.
“Ah Mo, I have to go to work. Go buy some food and come back early.”
Tang Mo was startled as he watched the frail-looking girl pushing the bicycle with an enormous box. It seemed to swallow her slender figure. Yu Chu had wanted him to see it. If he hadn’t seen her, he would never have known how hard his sister had slogged to support him.
The boy stood rooted to the spot as he watched the girl bike away. He bowed his head slightly and pressed his lips together as he gazed at the old-looking notes in his hands.
…
When Yu Chu reached the door, she pressed the doorbell again. She thought quietly to herself, ‘Why would he order food again?’
Judging from his reactions yesterday, the reason wasn’t to see her. To him, she was merely a stranger.
The doorbell rang. The man’s beautiful eyes flitted towards the door and he halted. After a moment, he rose to get the door.
The door opened softly and Yu Chu followed the system’s suggestions and beamed brightly at him. She bowed and said, “Hello. Here is the food you ordered.”
The man was clad in a short-sleeved shirt, which revealed his fair skin. His long eyelashes fell as his beautiful eyes trailed to the containers in her hands. Impassively, he quipped,
“Sorry, I didn’t order any food.”
Yu Chu was startled.
