Terrarium Adventure - Chapter 38
The driards swiftly jumped on top of the rocks that were sprouting from the ground and reached the top. What kind of skill is this? Why is the rock suddenly sprouting from the ground like a mole? What did they do?
“Mellow!”
Seedling then called out to Blue Mellow. He must not be an attack-type, as he was busy avoiding the fire here and there. But once he was called he quickly ran over to Seedling’s side.
Just like Belladonna, once he neared he spread out his hand towards Seedling, and instantly the ground sprouted with bluegrass.
Its form became indistinct upon coming into contact with my shoe, so it didn’t seem to be real grass.
“What is that? What are they doing? Is this a hallucination?”
I ran over to Elder, using the chance where a fire running towards me got caught in between the rocks.
“It’s a declaration of territory. It’s using the druid’s ability to bring the artifact out into the field and change it partially to the driard’s growing environment. Because a driard is able to gain more power in their growing environment. But for him to be able to overlap two in one go. Just how big is that druid’s soul?”
“Wow…that’s amazing.”
So you really were a super high leveled guy. Would I be able to do that if I leveled up?
So a druid was not only a small world tree to its driards but did those things for them as well. How did he do that just now? When would I naturally be able to acquire that? It happened so quickly that I couldn’t pick it up and learn from it.
“Seedling changed the field so hurry up!”
“I have been….trying…since just now….”
Belladonna and Kalmia flew around on top of the rocks. Unlike before the two of them were able to use their weapons and take out the fires in one kill.
So the rocks must be related to their growing environment. While they were busy fighting they shouted to Blue Mellow. It felt like they were trying to pressure something.
Blue Mellow lifted his crystal ball high up while receiving Seedling’s protection. A blue aurora that had the color of the crystal spread out and his purple-colored hair fluttered.
Surprisingly, Daisy and Elder from our side received the field’s benefits. Elder’s healing barrier was enhanced…and Daisy started to fight back. The grass on the floor must be normal field benefits.
“Are you done yet?”
“Just bear with it a little longer…if you can’t even hold out for that long…what’s the use of you…?”
As compared to the driards that were shouting their response Mellow looked serene. Mesquite, sensing what they had in mind, joined the frontline.
From a distance far away from Blue Mellow, she started to attack and shoot sand to draw the fire’s attention to herself. The scattered fires started to gather towards Mesquite and all the attack type driards were able to focus their attacks on one area.
“As a defense type, I’m envious…I wish I could be there too…”
“You won’t even be able to stand one minute in front of the fire! You’re all talk!”
With a frowned expression Periwinkle whipped crankily as he shouted at Mellow, who was speaking everything on his mind even in this situation. The shredded fires that disappeared seemed to be taking the hit for Mellow.
“I will follow your example!”
Meanwhile, Kadon shouted eagerly. He swung at the fires gathering towards Mesquite with his thorn bat and continuously glanced at Mesquite.
Ah, I don’t like that guy. She’s our Mesquite!
“You’re an attack-type! You idiot!”
Periwinkle intentionally went past Kadon and whipped at the fire next to him.
Momentarily a pleasant herb scent filled my nose. Something lumpy floated around, a bubble that looked similar to Mellow’s crystal ball had the remnant ash attached to it.
“The ash is floating on the water…the leaf type…thankfully it’s something that I know… Wow, it had a feast…I have good news…and bad news…which one do you want to hear first…?”
“Me! Good news!”
How could things get any worse in this situation? Let’s have some home.
I had no battle skills like Seedling to fight with the other driards. Instead, I stayed close next to Elder where I deemed the safest and shouted.
“The ones that just came out of the carriage…their normal is sis…layer is three. With our current level…we’ll be able to wipe them out easily…I don’t see anything…where we will need any particular strength…Belladonna use your skill.”
Belladonna, who had been supporting Mesquite’s area, backed away. Kalmia’s grenades replaced her spot so it didn’t seem to affect Mesquite’s defense.
Belladonna headed towards Seedling. She unexpectedly passed her weapon to Seedling.
As seedling took hold of her weapon, I was able to witness another peculiar scene. Belladonna had disappeared, in her place, purplish-black bell type flowers started to bloom.
They spread out its vines and looked like it was piercing into Seedling’s heart. No, it looked like it was being absorbed by him. As the vines surrounded him, he started to look like a large tree.
As I watched this scene unfold, I thought my heart started to pound and my head felt heated.
The tree that had enveloped Seedling started to turn black. As Seedling swung Belladonna’s weapon black marbles appeared from everywhere and headed towards the fires that surrounded Mesquite.
Even before the marbles made contact, it exploded a black liquid, and the fires that were hit by the liquid became paralyzed and its flames weakened.
Daisy was able to accomplish her first kill. At the same time, Kalmia released a storm of grenades, and immediately the fires that were like candles on top of a cake blew out.
“What is that?”
A high-level druid seems to use its driards power. Just how strong is that druid? Now our differences look way too big.
It’s like telling me ‘You can’t do this can you?’
The flame that burst out as high as the sky died down and returned to its carriage form. The carriage started to shake. Was it trying to move onto the next phase? Mesquite returned to my side to prepare for what was next.
“My owner, Jay. That is a graft. It’s where a driard’s soul graft it’s branches onto the soul of it’s driard to increase their power. This is something Jay can definitely use one day.”
Mesquite kindly explained, and it sounded like she was trying to console me in case I had lost my confidence.
I did feel slightly inferior but since it’s a power I can use one day it’s okay! I will quickly grow and try to swing Mesquite’s lens!
The carriage opened its doors again. The flame that erupted from the carriage was stronger than before. Hmm….the situation doesn’t look too good? Wait. We heard the good news. Was this the bad news?
Mellow who met my gaze pointed at the last remaining blue bubble.
“I think…there is…one fire that…ate a unique rank…that hasn’t come out yet. From the looks of it….we might all have to run for it…if we can get past the firewall….”
“We will not run. If we can’t stop it here, the casualties will be bigger.”
Seedling spoke as he returned Belladonna, who miraculously reappeared, her weapon.
Yes, you are right. Where do you think we’re going. We came all this way so we should see the boss monster die! With this much effort, the rewards will be immense!
“You might change your mind…after you see…this one….”
Mellow muttered depressingly. At the same time, grenades similar to Kalmia’s started to shower out of the carriage. Looking closely it wasn’t a grenade. Seeds?
“Don’t let it come in contact!”
Unlike us with Mesquite’s shield defending us, the other party had no defense type. Even with Elder’s healing barrier, they were caught in an uncontrollable disaster.
Everyone looked devastating with parts of their bodies burnt away. The ground was no exception. A small red circle appeared where the seed had fallen and was followed by an explosion of fireworks.
The ground was easy to avoid by avoiding the round circles but the seeds that touched the body were unavoidable. Despite the fact that Seedling had actualized the artifact to the field, the surrounding was like a minefield. The firewall became smaller. Along with it the area to move around decreased and this caused more damage.
“We can’t avoid an explosive attack like that in such a small field!”
Periwinkle tried to hit away the flying seeds with his whip but it seemed useless. You could see his whip was getting damaged even from afar.
Elder’s recovery barrier did not apply to damaged equipment. Even if their stamina was recovered if their weapons were damaged at this rate, it was disadvantageous to us in the long run.
Thankfully due to Mesquite’s defense, we didn’t have any direct damages, but if the attack type driards from the other party retired, it would be problematic for us after.
We will be too busy blocking attacks to even attempt to launch one.
The carriage started to spurt out its lava attacks again. We also needed to avoid the attacks from the fire that had consumed a unique rank.
Instantly the tables had turned. If a unique type is already to this extent….I could now understand why Seedling had said that a fire that consumed Mesquite would result in chaos.
“Elder! Do you have any hidden skills? Skills you’ve been saving up? You’re a damn awesome driard! You’re the only healer so you’re our only hope!”
What were you guys doing, not even recruiting a recovery type driard! Can’t you see our kid is putting all his energy into recovery healing?
Even though I was pushing Elder I already knew he was giving it his best. While everyone is busy avoiding attacks, Elder was the only one who remains constant and steady throughout.
The light that was emitted from his stick did not dim even in the slightest and the petals were fresh as though they had just fallen from its branches.
Elder was playing a huge role in keeping us all alive in this nightmare like situation.
He recovered driards that were near passing out. The healer that was in charge of supporting the team is always behind, silently doing his job.
Even in this gloomy situation, Elder’s presence was a form of hope and luck.
For a second, a feeling surged up in my chest and my heart started beating rapidly as if I had just run at full speed.
Since when did Elder’s stick shine so brightly? It felt like everything else around me was gone and I could only see Elder clearly.
Elder who had shut his eyes to focus lifted his eyelids heavily. As my gaze met the dark emerald eyes my head started to heat up.
This sensation. This must be it. This must be what I can do, no what we can do. Finally, it’s my turn to step in!
A pretty white flower branch that looked like Elder was formed. We both moved simultaneously as if it was planned.
The moment Elder plucked his stick out of the ground, the wave of light that enveloped the surface disappeared. The eyes of the driards who had been looking at us in despair widened.
Elder’s stick was now in my hands.
I felt like a large tree. I was a human but the arms I spread felt like a branch and my legs I stood on felt like the roots of a tree.
My driards had referred to me as the small world tree and now it felt natural like that was my real name.
The moment I grabbed Elder’s stick I could smell from my own form, the sweet scent he carried with him. A part of my body felt like it had become an elderflower. The blooming of my soul.
The sky became dark. Our surroundings became so dark that it could put the craziness of the fire to sleep. The clouds that rolled over burst out a shower of rain.
This was the graft of my druid Elderflower and I, a connection skill. The water droplets that glowed a blue shade fell over us like a summer’s monsoon.
