Terrarium Adventure - Chapter 40
It was just a feeling, but I felt like I solved a big problem by hunting the wagon boss.
I peeked at the way the wagon boss came, which was devastatingly ruined. Because such a powerful monster with good mobility swept all around, it probably played a big role in the occurrence of an abnormality in the 28th terrarium.
That’s why the novice druids who went on an adventure with only one or two dryads were all killed.
Daisy passed her childhood, my level increased a lot, and I also learned to do graft skills with Elder, so the fire won’t be able to hold us back anymore.
And the 28th terrarium will come out regardless of what path I take from the two in front of me.
Seedling’s dryads are camping on the downhill road, so I’m going to avoid it and take the uphill road next to it. It will be some extra work, but I don’t mind.
I made up my mind to part paths with Seedling as soon as possible and tried to continue my journey.
“Where are you going? Return to the terrarium where you came from. Didn’t you just watch the battle? Didn’t you feel anything?”
“Yeah yeah, you mean me grabbing Elder’s hand and finishing off nicely? I already saved you, how much more do I have to do for you? I’m a busy person. Let’s part ways here, okay?”
It was a good opportunity to get a glimpse of some of the combat skills used by high-level players through Seedling. I also learned how to use the graft from watching.
But now I wanted to leave. I pointed at the diamonds for Seedling to pick up and turned around.
Still, he wanted to say something more, so I hid behind Mesquite.
Mesquite always hated it when someone annoyed me. He should have gone back after I did something nice for him.
“Oh yeah. You. You also seem to have something to do in the 28th terrarium, so unlike my wish, I can’t say that we will never meet again.”
“Ah… Seedling. It hasn’t even been long since we met them, but they hate you already. I told you to be careful!”
Belladonna said in a sorry voice.
“Instead, don’t even talk to me the next time you see me. Don’t talk first until I tell you to speak. It’s annoying.”
“That’s…”
“From now on.”
As if he read my mind, Mesquite stuck out his lance as Seedling tried to approach with a ridiculous face. Seedling’s outstretched hand somehow filled with regret and returned to its place.
“Seedling, stop. I understand the desire to have more conversations with that druid. But you see that the other person doesn’t want to. Don’t aggravate Mesquite any more than this. Dryads who show excessive loyalty to their owners are capable of acting beyond common sense, you know.”
I waved my hands and said goodbye to Seedling’s dryads.
As the distance from them increased, my cell phone rang briefly, and a message appeared indicating that the connection with the other party was lost. The party disbanded soon after.
Because the battle with the wagon boss took a lot of time, it quickly became dark.
Normally, Mesquite would have recommended a break, but he kept walking as if he understood my desire to quickly run away from Seedling.
“What do you think? Do you think they’re following?”
“No. I don’t feel any presence. Master Jay, did you not like them? If you want, I can send a warning whenever they get close by making roots into the ground.”
“No, no. You don’t have to do that. The dryads were fun, but the owner, Seedling, was a little ridiculous. He was ignoring people! He was also saying that our Daisy is small…!”
I couldn’t feel any presence of anyone after a while and sat down on a large rock.
I was hungry because I didn’t eat anything all day. I took out the emergency food and sighed. I was hungry, but this wasn’t what I liked.
“But there was a lot to learn. If I level up a lot later, will I be able to fight directly like Seedling? Will I be able to swing a sword as well? It was also interesting that you could load fields from artifacts. There were so many things a druid could do.”
I needed to find out if there were any weapons I could use when I got back to town. Even if my stamina is trash and I won’t be able to swing something heavy like a sword, there will be something.
It was pretty cool to see Seedling fight with dryads. I couldn’t do that, so I was busy running away and staying next to Elder.
I split the emergency food a little, put it in my mouth, and immediately drank water and swallowed it like eating a pill.
I now had one more thing to do when I went back to town. I had to throw out all the emergency food and change it to something a human could eat.
“Jay doesn’t have to go to battle. Also, there is no need to be discouraged because you didn’t go to battle. As I frequently said, Jay is in itself…”
“But Seedling looked great. Well… except for that bad mouth he had.”
“Is that so? In my eyes, Jay looked the coolest. The graft, too… The graft between Jay and Elder was really great.”
My face heated at Mesquite’s words. He said I was cool. I now wanted to use the graft every time we were in battle.
Then, Mesquite spoke again as if he read my thoughts.
“Graft is not a power you can use every time. You can use it only when you increase your rapport with the dryad through constant combat. Obviously, realizing the graft is a celebration. But you shouldn’t rely on this and jump blindly into every battle. You will be in danger.”
I felt disappointed. It wasn’t always a skill. You mean, it was a special move skill used by filling a gauge in battle?
It was nice to have a place where my diamonds could stand out for once.
“Don’t feel so disappointed. Your affinity with me is always high, so the speed at which you will increase your rapport with me in battle will also increase at a fast rate. Why don’t you give me some more diamonds so that we can communicate more?”
That dryad is crazy for diamonds. He ruined the good vibe I had with Mesquite.
“Didn’t I already give you a lot back there?”
“If the day comes where you don’t have any more diamonds, I would have to use my diamonds to make the graft. It surely would be a waste if I had to do that.”
“Well, there will be no situation like that.”
“You could end up using them all at one point.”
“Nope.”
“You’re very wasteful with your diamonds. There will surely be a day where you become obsessed with a strange box-like last time and waste all your diamonds.”
“Nope.”
Elder stared with an absurd expression. The dwarves always complained saying that the diamonds I spend were not enough. He doesn’t even know how many diamonds I had.
“Will… there be a time where I could use the power of the graft with the master druid as well?”
Daisy, who was listening next to me, suddenly asked. In terms of sympathy and affinity, Daisy was the best among the dryads.
“There is no need to be impatient. Daisy is still less mature to share the power with Jay. The first thing to do would be to grow strong.”
Mesquite rushed to lift Daisy off of me, but she hugged me and endured to keep her spot next to me. Mesquite staggered for the very first time.
“Your ability to identify Jay’s weaknesses is increasing day by day…”
Mesquite smiled bitterly and released Daisy. Daisy bowed her head as if she was ashamed.
“You shouldn’t just use your head, but your body should be getting stronger little one.”
“Master druid, what graft force would I be able to use? Would I be able to make it rain?”
Elder’s words were ignored. I pondered at Daisy’s words. Surely, the skill to make rain suited well with Elder, who was a dryad focused on recovery. So, what kind of skills could I use if I used to power with graft with Daisy, who was an offensive dryad? I also became curious about Mesquite’s graft skill.
If the day comes when all three grafts will be available… the battle will become completely dynamic.
We spent the night imagining each other’s graft skills until we fell asleep.
I overslept as usual and felt groggy, to the point that I wanted to roll down the hilly road instead of walking. Wouldn’t it be okay since Elder will heal me if I were to get hurt? I really didn’t want to walk.
I walked with these kinds of thoughts for a while, then fully woke up when the 28th terrarium appeared in the distance.
It was horrible as I had imagined. Unlike the 26th terrarium, which was full of greenery, it was buried in ashes.
There were collapsed buildings covered in black ashes. Smoke was still rising and fire burst from time to time. God, what a town.
We had finally reached the 28th terrarium, the destination of the first quest, but it seemed difficult to access because the surrounding area was covered in fire.
We hid and explored the surroundings so as not to fall into the range. Big and small fires were crawling around like caterpillars.
When the fires collided with each other, the small fire was absorbed by the large fire, and the body of it grew significantly.
“The barrier is completely broken. Seeing there are so many fires around the terrarium… it means that all adjacent terrariums could become dangerous as well. It seems like the 28th branch of the World Tree… has lost its strength.”
Listening to Mesquite, I held my pounding heart and searched for an area with less fire. We didn’t have to kill them all, we only needed to get through the path to the village…
“If left unattended, all terrariums in the 20s could become dangerous. It seems like there is a hole in the wall of blessings built with World Tree branches. Fire will constantly push through this hole. We are not supposed to see the huge fires we met earlier in this area since the power of the World Tree placed throughout the terrariums will suppress them. The fire should not be growing past a certain level.”
Even though it was a terrarium in the 20s, it was a region close to the World Tree. It was supposed to be safe.
The 26th terrarium had also suddenly suffered from drought… The druids who were beginner level thought lightly of it and jumped in, and everyone had lost their lives.
The branch that should exist in the proper place had disappeared and the defense wall was pierced.
“I don’t understand. Why was the branch of the great World Tree destroyed like this? Something went wrong.”
Mesquite was very angry. His anger scared me a little.
Well, maybe the wagon boss, but Seedling and I could handle it. He seems to be a little weak to have burned down the terrariums like this.
I suddenly had the thought that if Mesquite was seriously angry, he would be stronger than the wagon boss.
I was tapping on my cell phone anxiously when I suddenly caught a weak tone.
I looked at my cell phone… Strangely, the message was moving back and forth as if there was a lag.
It was Stonehenge mode, then Wallet mode. It spun around a circle to establish a network connection, then went into Wallet mode again.
Why is this being like this? Was it messed up? I picked up my phone and shook it back and forth. I tried to put it here and there like when seeking a Wi-Fi connection.
When I stretched out my arms, I got a message saying it was finding a network of adjacent artifacts.
There must be someone nearby. Seedling would be a little upset by the fact I found the artifact before him.
Artifact network connection
Adjacent Terrarium Artifact: Scarecrow
The emergency rescue mode of adjacent terrarium artifacts is activated and is connected with priority.
To connect the network, decrease the distance between you and the artifact.
“Someone’s there! Someone’s there in the front!”
This is crazy! There must be someone in that fire! And emergency rescue mode, what the heck was that? Well, I know for a fact that it’s a very urgent situation! At my cry, the dryads went into battle.
