She held her breath as Lu Jingyao’s singing voice deepened. Following his acappella singing, all the lights suddenly brightened, and backup dancers flooded stage in an orderly manner. The fireworks on both sides of the stage went off and lit up the whole place.
Su Xia could not hold herself back from coughing a little. She covered her mouth with her hand quietly, her eyes still staring unblinkingly at Lu Jingyao on stage. Her blood surged in rhythm to his singing and dancing which had the audience all hyped up, and all her senses seemed to have left her body. She felt that the person on stage was glowing from head to toe.
He was born to be a star.
He was born for the stage.
It was meant to be a gala gathering all the celebrities and their respective fans, but in front of Lu Jingyao, it was as if it had become his concert. Screams and cries of excitement enveloped Su Xia’s ears, making her feel proud for some unknown reason.
Proud that the person she crushed on was this outstanding.
She had witnessed him growing from an unknown newbie into the person he was today. Over nine years, she had also gradually grown from a little girl into an adult.
Su Xia’s enthusiasm had always been short-lived.
However, throughout her journey of crushing on Lu Jingyao, she was full of passion as always.
This was also the thing she had persisted in for the longest time.
Amidst the violent screams, Xue Mingan walked over to Su Xia’s side. “Let’s stop watching. Go touch up your makeup and change your clothes and get ready for the final chorus.”
He lowered his voice. “Lu Jingyao won’t be joining, he’ll leave after performing this song.”
Su Xia took a few more glances woefully and then reluctantly followed Xue Mingan to the waiting room by passing through a throng of staff members offstage. However, she ran into someone she did not wish to see at all.
A grinning Gu Yu was standing at the entrance to her waiting room with his arms crossed over his chest. He tilted his head and whistled carelessly. “Yo, where did you come back from?”
Su Xia rolled her eyes at the way he asked despite knowing the answer. She pushed open the door without so much as a reply, gathered up her skirts, and said coolly, “You seem to be idling about every day. Is it because your popularity has declined or that you don’t have any more acting jobs? Can’t believe that the ex-king of historical dramas would stoop to the level of gossiping.”
Gu Yu touched his nose and let out a hearty laugh. “You’re anxious.”
Su Xia turned her head and smiled at him. “Get out.”
“Why.” She raised her eyebrows slightly. “Do you want to watch a girl change?”
Gu Yu shrugged. “I don’t mind.”
There was time for Su Xia to reply as Xue Mingan immediately took him by the shoulder and pushed him to the door. “Save your words for later, we’re busy here!”
Gu Yu, “…”
He got anxious. “Hey bro, you obviously have a changing room, and I was just kidding…”
Without waiting for him to finish speaking, Xue Mingan closed the door.
Su Xia laughed out loud.
Gu Yu would be a nice and decent person if not for his careless mouth.
She first met him when they were co-actors and had originally thought him to be a refined and gentle person. However, she did not expect that it was all pretense and that he was actually trying to hit on her. After she rejected him, they became somewhat like buddies instead.
Both their management teams were also very familiar with each other, and bickering was common between them.
Su Xia changed into a burgundy velvet dress and walked out of the changing room. Two locks of hair had been taken from behind her ears and tied together at the back of her head. Her hairstyle was finished off by clipping on a red bow hairpin, creating a simple yet unique look. Her skin was so fair she seemed to be glowing, and a noble and elegant aura emanated from all over her.
