Chapter 14: When you’re famous, impersonators are bound to exist
It was during the streaming.
As usual, Kanata was talking to his listeners as Haishin, but this comment caught his attention.
: By the way, how do you feel about your growing influence, Haishin-sama?
Influence. It was something people asked about, but it didn’t really ring a bell.
Kanata didn’t appear in front of the public and just talked about whatever he wanted through the terminal.
With that said, he knew he had become quite famous and understood that his words could make a difference… but he was still not going to change this stance.
[I don’t really care, but I know I’ve become influential in no small manner. It’s a sign that I’m watched by lots of people as a streamer.]
He doesn’t intend to change his stance, but that didn’t mean he would say anything radical.
It is paramount to be objective about things, just like that time someone asked him for help. He advised them to settle the situation in the best way possible, along with his opinion.
When he gives advice, he just states what he wants and thinks should be done.
[Well, I’m just going to keep saying what I want. Now I can get my words out to everyone and show something to them, even if it’s only my hands for now. There are many other things I want to do, you know?]
He wants to do all the things he had seen streamers do in his previous life.
Right now, it is still limited to projecting his hand, but he’d like to have the opportunity to project other images, make it portable, and do things like vlogging.
: Haishin-sama, I hope you will keep growing as I will offer you my assistance!
: I’m looking forward to it, Haishin. Being able to hear your voice is the ultimate happiness.
: If there’s anything you want me to do for you, say it, and I’ll help you out.
Kanata received many positive comments.
Sometimes he receives horrible mails and a tremendous amount of money, but Kanata is able to continue streaming because of all of the listeners.
[I can’t thank you enough, everyone ♪.]
It was an unusually flippant thank you.
The comments stopped for a moment when he said it, somewhat embarrassed, as he couldn’t hide his joy.
But soon, the comments moved in at an alarming rate.
[By the way…]
It was then that something occurred to Kanata.
Kanata was aware of his influence to some extent but not about the entirety of it.
So he asked this question.
[What if I were to say something stupid like I want to take over the world?]
: I will cooperate to the end.
: I will use all my power to offer you the world.
: It’s simple. I will overrun the city and hand it over to Haishin.
: I’m used to killing people. If you rely on me, I’ll kill anyone for you.
: Let all things come to naught, and a new order shall get established for you.
Many comments appeared about various things, and Kanata reflected on the fact that he had said some strange things.
[Don’t take me too seriously! I’m not interested in world domination, and I’m not trying to take over anyone. Well, I don’t want anyone else to get oppressed, so let’s all not hurt anyone else!]
Kanata quickly said so and ended the subject. One’s words can be a curse, and who knows who might be listening. *Note: Be careful because careless remarks and words often bring disaster.*
Thinking back, he remembers watching a lot of streamers in his previous life who said even something small could become a huge problem and cause a huge wildfire.
(I should be careful too. Well, there’s no such thing as wildfires in this world, but I’d better watch out…)
[EDN: Wildfires -> hot topics?]
After making up his mind, he was even more determined to avoid false rumours speeding into the public eye.
[Well, we’ve got a lot of reading today.]
It was time to read mail as usual.
Kanata likes to read heartwarming mails from time to time, and the first one he saw was exactly like he expected.
[Haishin-sama. I’m not troubled or anything, but I want to offer my gratitude for one thing.
My family had been in the slave business for generations, but my parents and servants, including myself, thought of slaves as nothing more than tools.
However, a change occurred in our family after we heard your concern about slaves. Slaves are lives born in this world just like us, and although it was obvious, we were unaware of it.
When I thought they were just like us, equal to us, I realized how terrible we were.
I am truly grateful to you for making me aware of that.
I’m going to atone for what I’ve done, no matter how long it takes.]
[… I feel different when you say it’s thanks to me, but I’m glad to hear it. Please continue to take good care of your slaves. I bet your slaves are glad to have you as their master.]
He didn’t know how the slaves felt, but at least they were better than being oppressed.
The perception of slaves had changed in the kingdom since Kanata sent out his voice sometime ago that slaves are also life.
Kanata is not going to be arrogant about this being his power.
[It was heartwarming from the very first mail. Okay, next one…]
[I’d like to have some of Haishin-sama’s belongings.]
[… Oi, come on, that’s straight to the point.]
No way someone actually wanted Kanata’s personal belongings, right?
Since he didn’t even know who the recipient was, sending it to their address was just a dream. Kanata, however, thought he would like to maybe do a giveaway for his listeners at some point.
[I’d like to do a giveaway at some point. I’m not sure what to offer… Hmm, maybe I’d make some sort of Haishin merchandise.]
He wondered if some merchandise would be a standard item, and although he had yet to conceive the idea enough to give it shape, he naturally desired to try making it.
[I have a rough idea, but I’m not quirky enough to give it a go, I’ll have to think about it with someone else.]
: Then, by all means, I will listen to you! Since I believe I’m in the best position to help Haishin-sama!
[Princess… You really are a nobody.]
He knew she was rich because she always gave him a lot of money, but well. It’s still scary because he can’t see her face.
He decided to slowly think about how to do this while keeping merchandise sales in mind and read the next mail.
[Love you, Haishin-sama.]
[I love all of you too.]
Realizing what he just said, Kanata felt chills to the point, thinking that some listeners might’ve gone crazy.
It wasn’t wrong for him to feel so, as he could hear some strange voices coming from far away through the window of his room.
Kanata then continued to spend time with his listeners as he read their mails.
But the next day, an incident occurred.
“I wonder why… I’m so sleepy in the mornings.”
Kanata muttered as he plopped down on the desk as usual.
As more and more people started arriving in the classroom, it got noisier. Kanata turned his attention to Alphana, whom he had become friends with.
She got surrounded by many students, and the way she handled them with a smile was quintessentially saintly.
“I’ll never be able to make it…”
Well, it’s useless to think about it because he didn’t have anyone to talk to over there, nor did they like him back.
Then, he took his gaze away from Alphana and closed his eyes again.
“Hey, did you hear that?”
“Yeah, I just heard.”
“Is he for real?”
The girls who always provided gossip next to him were talking about something today.
Kanata listened to the girls while pretending to be asleep to pass the time… and an unexpected topic came up in their conversation.
“I’m talking about a noble named Aguila Trace who belongs to the SS class. I heard he’s none other than Haishin himself.”
“Somehow, I heard someone talking about it this morning too.”
“… Isn’t that a lie? I just can’t believe it to be true.”
Fakes come out when you’re famous, and that’s apparently what happened.
“… No, it’s easy to tell he’s lying, stupid..”
It was obvious that Haishin was Kanata and not a nobleman named Aguila.
If Kanata were to say so in his stream, that would be it… but if he tells this story there, it will create speculation that Kanata is in the royal capital and furthermore, people might find out he is an academy student.
“… Are? That’d be easy to deny, right? No, it’d be okay if I tell them I got a snitch from somewhere.”
As soon as he found the solution, he decided to leave it aside for now.
However, Kanata thought too little of the influence the name Haishin had. Even if someone lied and became a fake, for better words, Haishin still attracted lots.
In other words, whether out of curiosity or else, something was bound to happen to the noble student who told a lie.
“Saint-sama? Is something wrong?”
“No, it’s nothing. Ufufu.”
TLN- Welp since author uses names based on some kind of animals, I guess this one should be “Aguila” (Eagle) instead of Agira.
Also forgot to mention before, the assassins’ name is “Karasu”(JP) in raws but I decided to go with “Raven”.
