Ye Xi’s face was buried in the mother ape’s chest. The ape’s chest was hard, and stank with some indescribable stench. Being hugged like this was unbearable, so he tried to push back a little, but a moment later, the mother ape hugged him even more tightly.
Heavens! He hadn’t been torn in half by the apes, but he might end up being choked to death.
At this moment, the pack of apes became restless, and he began to hear the apes roaring and hammering their chests.
Ye Xi managed with some difficulty to turn his head a little, and when he saw what was going on, he gasped and wanted nothing more than to bury his head back in the mother ape’s chest.
A frighteningly massive python had slithered its way onto the tree, its thick body coiled in layer upon layer around the trunk.
It was simply too massive, making the pack of large apes appear like little monkeys.
Could this be… one of tyrants of prehistory, the Titanoboa?! It was a terrifying snake that not even the Tyrannosaurus dared to provoke1, also known as the Hell Python!
The apes crazily howled at it and hammered their chests, trying to scare it off. But the Titanoboa appeared to not hear, its fist-sized red eyes focused on one of the apes as it slowly raised its massive head.
The ape being stared at was already rather afraid. Although it still pounded its chest, its feet had already taken a step back.
Like the slow motion in a movie right when someone was about to attack, everything slowed to a crawl.
Ye Xi’s eyes slowly widened, his body going rigid with terror. This creature was far too frightening. Not even his most terrifying nightmares could dream up such a monstrosity.
Suddenly, the Titanoboa struck, moving as quickly as lightning. It was all a blur to Ye Xi as that massive crimson maw opened and bit down on that large ape. Before the ape had time to strike back, sharp fangs had pierced through its chest and blood gushed out. All that was left outside of the mouth were four twitching limbs.
The Titanoboa raised its neck and swallowed down the ape.
After swallowing one ape, the Titanoboa stuck out its forked tongue, its cold, red eyes beginning to rove about the pack of apes.
The Titanoboa wasn’t full! Ye Xi shivered. His brain was still recovering from the extreme terror he had felt. His animal survival instinct urged him to immediately run from this terrifying place, but the mother ape was hugging him tightly.
At some point, the apes had stopped roaring and hammering their chests.
All was quiet.
An ape took two steps, swiftly snatched a hanging vine, and then fled. The other apes saw this, lost their will to fight, and began to scatter.
The mother ape hugging him also wanted to retreat, but it wasn’t willing to let him go. With one hand hugging him, the other hand grabbed hold of the trunk with the intention of jumping down. But because the mother ape was too slow, its hand was slapped away by other apes, and the Titanoboa’s red eyes turned on it!
The Titanoboa’s mouth opened as the head rapidly moved toward the mother ape and Ye Xi.
Ye Xi saw that blood-red maw approaching him, carrying with it a foul wind, and his body trembled in fear, a chill going down his back.
It was over!
Suddenly, an ape that was about to run turned around and savagely punched the Titanoboa’s body.
The Titanoboa turned its head around after being attacked, and it used its extremely thick tail to knock the ape down.
And then the terrifying snake turned its head back, its scarlet eyes still fixed on the mother ape and Ye Xi.
Run! Ye Xi’s heart was ablaze with worry!
The mother ape realized what had happened and tried to run with Ye Xi, but at this moment, the thick tail coiled itself around the mother ape.
The Titanoboa had a playful look in its eyes, apparently wanting to toy with them a little. Rather than swallowing them in one bite, it slowly coiled its body around them.
All of Ye Xi’s bones were squeezed, causing intense pain across his body and almost suffocating him. With Ye Xi’s life under threat, all of his fear disappeared. He began to struggle to get his arms free so that he could get the triangular bayonet at his waist to make one last struggle to survive. But his hands were tightly bound by the boa’s body, rendering him incapable of movement.
Was this how his second life was going to end?
Ye Xi didn’t want this!
The mother ape hugged Ye Xi and raised its head, mournfully shrieking in the vain hope that the boa would let them go.
Suddenly, the ape that had been knocked down from the tree climbed back up. A furious roar came from the depths of its chest as it jumped out and punched the boa in the head.
The Titanoboa was caught off guard and was hit dead-on. Its coiling body went slack, and the mother ape seized this chance to put all its strength into throwing Ye Xi out.
Ye Xi was thrown out of the Titanoboa’s chokehold.
As he flew through the air, the surprised Ye Xi’s first reaction was that… his bones would break if he fell from three storeys!
As he fell, Ye Xi madly snatched at a vine hanging from a tree, and the force of inertia carried his body slamming into the trunk.
His hands grimly clutched the vine, and his body slid down several more centimeters before stopping.
Ye Xi clenched the vine, suspended in the air. Ignoring the burning pain from his hands, he reeled in shock over what had just happened. The mother ape had actually thrown him out. Did it not care that it was being choked to death by the Titanoboa and was about to be eaten?
Was it really treating him as its own child? …The love of a mother had made it abandon its own life!
The male ape that was attacking the Titanoboa seemed to be the one who had captured him. Was it attacking the Titanoboa without care for its own life because the mother ape was about to be eaten?
These two apes seemed so human!
Looking up, he saw that the Titanoboa was incessantly attacking the male ape, but this male was extremely agile, constantly dodging while also shouting to draw its attention.
The male ape was trying to draw all of the Titanoboa’s attention so that it would release the mother ape.
But the Titanoboa continued to keep its body coiled tightly around the mother ape, only using its head to attack the male.
Though the male ape was doing its best to dodge, the boa was just too fast.
The Titanoboa seized a weakness, and its head shot out like a lightning bolt and bit down, tearing a chunk of flesh from the male ape.
The ape’s movements gradually began to slow down.
The mother ape mournfully howled.
Ye Xi clenched his teeth, holding the vine so tightly that his knuckles turned white. If he ran now, with those two apes drawing the Titanoboa’s attention, there was a high chance he could escape. But then, those two apes…
Ye Xi felt like there was a fire burning his heart. He could not ignore it!!! There were things that should be done and shouldn’t be done. If he left like this, he wouldn’t be able to stand himself!
His eyes turned red as he began to climb up the tree along the vine! He came up behind the Titanoboa.
Now was the moment!
“AAAAAH!” With the triangular bayonet in hand, Ye Xi roared and jumped, stabbing the bayonet into the Titanoboa’s neck. While the Titanoboa was terrifying, it was still a beast. It might have had many scales on its body, but the triangular bayonet was very sharp, and with the added power from Ye Xi’s jump, it managed to pierce through the snake’s protective layer and thrust deeply into its body!
Ye Xi held the triangular bayonet with both hands, his body hanging in the air.
Hissss! Struck in such a vital point, the Titanoboa raised its head and let out a deafening hiss that made the leaves on the tree tremble.
Its heart had been stabbed!
The pain threw the Titanoboa into agony, and it ceased caring about the two apes, tossing the mother ape and male ape to the ground. With one swing, its terrifying tail tore a chunk out of the tree trunk. Meanwhile, its body began to writhe as it tried to throw off the small insect on its body.
Ye Xi hung from the Titanoboa’s body, swinging back and forth, his teeth grimly clenched as he put all his strength into maintaining his grip on the triangular bayonet.
If he let go, he was dead! This was the only thought in Ye Xi’s mind.
Because he was hanging from the Titanoboa’s body, its crimson maw could not bite and its terrifying tail could not strike him. But if Ye Xi were thrown off, the furious Titanoboa would kill him in a matter of seconds!
He could only grit his teeth and endure.
