Chapter 148 Game of Life and Death
Long Xi softly lay in Yan Wangchuan’s embrace not fully regaining her consciousness due to her near drowning.
His cold kiss fell on her cheek, moving towards her lips.
“Ah… don’t! I consider you as my brother. Please, don’t touch me!” …Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, who could save her?
“Mmm? Don’t be afraid. I’m just asking for a little reward in advance. You should know that I put my life in danger to help you!” Yan Wangchuan’s voice grew hoarse.
Holding back her reluctance, with Yan Wangchuan’s assistance Long Xi tried to stand.
As she stood she noticed that the surrounding environment was different! This was Hell instead of the Esperanza!
Long Xi said with some fear, “Something seemed to try and drag me beneath the sea.”
Yan Wangchuan answered, “It was a person. She wore a diving suit. I couldn’t see her clearly, but I could tell that it was a woman. I started to fight with her. Fortunately, I am very fit this year, so I was stronger than her!”
“Thank you, brother Wangchuan!” Long Xi said gratefully.
At that moment, a man in a black suit came over to them and said in blunt Chinese, “Please go to the guest room to change your clothes. These are your room cards. After ten minutes, everyone should gather in the entertainment hall.”
Taking the room cards, Long Xi and Yan Wangchuan glanced at each other before entering their respective rooms, 207 and 208.
As Long Xi entered room 207 she could not help frowning when she saw that there was only a voile split dress in a light golden color.
The material was as light as butterfly wings, there was no undergarment inside. Her legs were too visible, showing her sexiness.
But it was her only choice as her clothes were soaked. She had nothing to wear but this!
She changed her clothes and walked out of the room.
Yan Wangchuan left his room at the same moment.
The silver-gray suit and white shirt suited him. The casually tied light blue tie seemed to be a snatch of the sky.
Above the tie, his face was still handsome, a light smile visible as looking at Long Xi’s dress, his eyes danced with admiration.
Long Xi nervously adjusted her dress and said with some embarrassment, “It was the only dress in my room.”
Yan Wangchuan took off his suit jacket and put it on her.
Long Xi was slightly relieved. The jacket would cover most of her naked body.
They came to the entertainment hall.
Many people had gathered in the hall, which, if estimated would be 100 at least.
Long Xi noticed three acquaintances in the crowd – Yamamoto Shang, Man Shahua, and Weiwei.
Yamamoto Shang still wore a samurai costume, Man Shahua was dressed as the snake-haired banshee, Medusa, and Weiwei was dressed as a Japanese geisha.
Long Xi sneered in her mind and thought, “It’s easy for everyone to notice the two women since they like to role play.”
In the center of the hall, there was a very large iron cage with an iron gate in the middle of it, which divided the cage into two parts.
Two jackals were in the left section of the cage.
The two jackals seemed to be used to people’s attention. One of them leisurely sat on the ground, while the other was snapping.
The right section of the cage was covered with a piece of black cloth concealing it.
“Everybody, each of you has five white chips, which you could trade for one green chip. We only have 10,000 green chips in total. When the game starts, in 72 hours, if you can gain 1,000 green chips, you can ask for a person to be saved. If you lose all of your chips, you need to accept our punishment. In the game, you can use any kind of method, except violence. If you break the rules, you will also be punished.” The male voice echoed around the hall, but no one could see who was talking. Perhaps, there was a hidden speaker in the corner.
Save a person? Long Xi caught the keywords: if she could win 1,000 green chips in the game, she could save a person!
She could not help calling out, “Could you please show us whether there is a person that we want to save?”
The voice said, “After two days, if three of you have 100 or more green chips, I will remove the black cloth from the cage. Then, you can see if there is someone you want to save.”
As people discussed what had been said, a few black men in black suits distributed five white, round chips to each person.
Long Xi quietly observed the others and pondered who she could trust.
There were a lot of game machines and game tables in the hall. Long Xi approached one of the tables.
There was a small flag in its corner, with the words Hero Kill written on it.
When they were in grade 10, Xiaolu used to teach Long Xi to play the card game, Hero Kill.
At that time when their study was particularly tense, they would play a round after class. Long Xi was good at the game.
Yan Wangchuan said to Long Xi, “I see there is a chess table. I am good at that. I should go there and I will give you everything I win.”
Long Xi nodded and said, “Okay, let’s play.”
Yan Wangchuan walked to the chess table.
His opponent was European.
Yan Wangchuan thought, “This is the chess of Z Country instead of international chess. I don’t think that I can lose!”
Making a bet of three white chips he quickly beat the European, gaining three white chips from him.
At that moment, Yamamoto Shang walked towards the table, sitting down opposite him.
Since chess had spread to Japan from Z Country years ago, it’s popularity in Japan has risen and lasted for a long time.
Yamamoto Shang proposed a bet of four white chips.
Yan Wangchuan agreed.
Noticing Yamamoto Shang’s expression and confident posture when he set the bet, Yan Wangchuan knew that Yamamoto Shang must be a chessmaster. He dared not underestimate this opponent and focused on the game.
At the same time, five people had surged around Long Xi’s Hero Kill table, including Weiwei and Man Shahua. Their expressions were unfriendly. They had obviously come for Long Xi.
In addition, there were two tall women both dressed in Indian saris.
Long Xi felt that the two women were familiar to her. Their eyes were attractive, but they did not look Indian. They seemed to be Asian.
They both wore veils, so she could not see their faces clearly.
One of the women, who wore a light green sari was much taller. She was about 1.83 meters high. She had short hair and although they were concealed behind the veil, her pupils were as dark as the night sky, but her eyes were warm, shining with purity.
The eyes were similar to Fan Xiaolu’s.
Her friend, the woman in the red yarn was a little shorter, her pupils indifferent as a dead well. Her appearance recalling a beautiful line of “moonlight scattered in the cold night”.
Her body was a mystery, like a shadow queen in the dark night.
At that moment, a man dressed in black with an eye patch walked over.
Long Xi was shocked when she saw him.
The man was Brother Fenggou who she had previously met in the Intoxicating Aroma Village. He had been badly beaten to the point of blindness in one eye by Lord Mo Kun because he had teased Long Xi under Cheng Yimei’s order.
Brother Fenggou obviously remembered Long Xi and grinned at her, “Little beauty, long time no see! I am the judge of this game. Be at ease, it’s a fair game. From now on, whoever breaks the rules will be punished and kicked out of the game.”
Still speaking he shuffled the cards, “I should tell you all about the rules of the game: there is a pack of Hero Kill in my hands. After I shuffle the cards, each of you can choose one hero character whose skills are on the opposite side of the card. The five of you should be divided into three groups, including a Master, a Loyal Minister, two Rebels, and a Hidden Traitor. After you choose your identities, the Master should reveal their identity, while the others’ identities should remain hidden. The characters are…”
Long Xi was very familiar with the rules. What Brother Fenggou had told them was exactly the same as the game she had played before. So she had no need to study them.
The most important thing now was to see what identity she had chosen.
If she had chosen the Master, she needed to cooperate with the Loyal Minister to kill the Rebels and the Hidden Traitor.
If she had chosen the Rebel, she needed to cooperate with the other Rebel to kill the Loyal Minister and the Hidden Traitor.
If she chose the Loyal Minister, she needed to protect the Master to kill the Rebels and the Hidden Traitor.
If she chose the Traitor, she needed to kill the Rebels and the Loyal Minister first before the Master was killed. Then, kill the Master in the end.
Attention: if the master killed the Loyal Minister, all of the handcards and equipment cards would be dropped.
Any identity could get three handcards if they killed a Rebel.
The Master could choose their character out of the five first.
After the Master has picked their character, he should show his character to everyone.
Then, it is the other players turn to choose their characters, each of whom could choose one out of three and could not be repeated. That is to say, players in a round cannot choose the same character.
After selection, they should all show their characters at the same time.
Each character has relative Life Points and Skills. The character chosen by the Master can add a Life Point on the basic point.
Players can use the relative Skills which are detailed on the opposite side of the card.
After sharing all the rules, the judge asked the five players to each take out three chips as bets.
The game officially began. The first stage was to see who was the Master.
The way to choose the Master was to turn the plate on the table.
He asked the five players to stand on an electronic turntable plate with a pointer. After the turntable plate stopped, the pointer was pointing at the woman in the green sari.
He pointed at the woman in the green sari and said, “You are the Master.”
Next, the remaining four players began to pick their identities. They were all to keep their identities secret.
The card that Long Xi picked was the Loyal Minister.
As a Loyal Minister, the key point was to protect the Master and to kill the Traitor and the Rebels. Besides, she should not be killed by the Master.
