The Concubine’s Daughter Came Around - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Savage Beasts

It was getting dark. Zhumo cleaned the bedding and gave it to Dong Ling.
Failing to fight the great sleepiness, she fell asleep soon.
Dong Ling covered the quilt for Zhumo. The moonlight shone over her body, through the window. Compared to the pale moonlight, her sharp and cold eyes made people tremble.
In Concubine Lin’s room, everyone was sleep soundly. The room was so hard that she could hear a pin drop.
Dong Ling stepped inside and covered the quilt for her mother in case she might get a cold.
Later, she checked if the bed was fixed and safe.
After confirming everything was safe, she was going back to her own room. When she stood alone in the cold darkness, she couldn’t help giving a shudder.
Suddenly, there came some noise of chains. And the noise got closer and closer!
Dong Ling looked carefully, only to see eight ferocious mastiffs running towards her!
With long saliva down their mouths, the mastiffs flung themselves at Dong Ling. In the darkness, they looked rather threatening in appearance.
Such mastiffs were raised as expensive pets in the 21st century. But in this age, they were savage beasts!
What a terrifying age!
Dong Ling took up a dark iron stick from behind. As she stretched it, it turned into a broadsword.
On the tortuous trip, she exchanged the tiger’s paws for the broadsword in case of danger.
This broadsword was one of a kind in this age. She drew a draft based on her memory of the weapons in the 21st century, with which the blacksmith forged the components. Then she assembled it by herself. Though small in size and weight, it was even sharper than a sword.
Mastiffs were attacking her and roaring excitedly. She could even smell them.
The next minute, some light flashed.
The mastiff, which was charging in the first place, was beheaded! Other mastiffs, coming after him, looked as if they were stoned. Instead of retreating, they kept rushing up one after another.
Blood seemingly made them crazier. Dong Ling brandished the broadsword faster.
The crack of bones lingered in her eyes. She dodged them deftly, during which she fought back occasionally.
It seemed that the mastiffs had tasted the blood of human. They were so ferocious that even Dong Ling nearly failed to fight them.
She thought they had been scared away. Unexpectedly, they threw themselves harder at her and managed to scratch her.
“Humph, you beasts!” as she upbraided, she fought harder.
Mastiffs fell down on the ground one after another. The day broke faintly.
She gasped as she sat on the ground. What a pity that she wasn’t strong enough! Just then, her stomach growled.
“Well, such beasts could be blocking my way. Why don’t I eat them?” she thought naturally as she stared at their bodies on the ground.
Quicker than words could tell, she made a fire in the yard and sat down for some mastiff barbecue!
Old Li smelt it first and ran excitedly to the yard. But what he saw froze him to the spot! What did he see? Dead mastiffs were lying on the ground and bathed in blood. Dong Ling, sitting beside them and enjoying the mastiff barbecue alone, had quite a good time. This looked scary, out of no reason.
Dong Ling bit a piece of meat off and gave a quick glance at Old Li while the latter was struck dumb. Dong Ling yelled in a careless way, “Where’s Li Fugui? Bring him to me and I’ll treat him such delicious meat.”
She suddenly smiled, which made Old Li’s blood run cold. With his legs trembling in fear, he nearly knelt and kowtowed to her.
Right at this moment, Li Fugui came in through the door. He hummed a tune and looked like he was in a good mood.
Some servants told him that his father had come towards the main yard. He was so excited that he just followed up.
