The Concubine’s Daughter Came Around - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Victory

Dong Ling and Wu Jitian stood by the lake and watched Pan Qiyi yelling for help inside it. They looked completely indifferent, as if they had nothing to do with it.
Since Dong Ling was born, she had never let go of those who tried to bully her. Neither did she this time.
But common people around them got restless!
Pan Qiyi was defeated in the poetry competition and humiliated in front of everyone. Even though she would be just a laughingstock of the town, she was still a beautiful girl. Men on site couldn’t be hardhearted enough to look on and do nothing.
Besides, she was from a powerful family. It would be great if they helped her.
Therefore, to help Pan Qiyi and find favor in her eyes, many guys planned to jump into the lake and get her up!
As the old saying went, people could easily give the icing on the cake, but they always failed to help a lame dog over a stile. Men in such an age thought so. If they managed to help a girl when she was in trouble, people would think highly of them.
As Pan Qiyi was a gorgeous girl from a rich family, nearly all men adored her. And it was a great chance to get close to her! What a chance they had been waiting for!
Some of them quickly took off their coats and jumped into the lake one by one! Wow, interesting!
In the lake, there was a beautiful girl and several men.
If people knew about it, Pan Qiyi would be disgraced throughout the town.
Seeing them swimming to her, Pan Qiyi suddenly yelled, “Stay away! Don’t touch me!”
To her, reputation mattered most!
She had fallen into the lake in front of so many people, and her dress was in a fearful mess. If she was saved by such guys, would she still be the cold beautiful girl? If her reputation was ruined, how could she spend the rest of her life in town?
The swimmers reached out and said, “Miss Pan, take my hand and go!”
Unexpectedly, she struggled harder to refuse them desperately!
“Let go of me! Don’t touch me with your dirty hands!” she still yelled.
The water resistance was rather high in the lake. Pan Qiyi was struggling at the same time. Things got rather dangerous in the water.
Hearing her words, those who jumped into the lake to save her felt quite bad about it. Well, they had evil intention. But they still sacrificed when they were willing to save her in such cold water!
Instead of being grateful, Pan Qiyi shouted and insulted them! What an ungrateful girl! And how rude she was!
The more Pan Qiyi struggled, the more she was drowned!
The guys were worried. They couldn’t just let her die. So, they worked together, to finally drag her to the shore of the lake.
Bathed in water for quite a few minutes, Pan Qiyi was all wet. The pink gauze dress was tightly stuck to her body. People could see that she got a curvy figure. Her red bra was also clear to be seen.
As she had struggled hard in the lake, her dress was unbuttoned before she realized it. When wind blew, her breast loomed through the dress. Men, who were standing around her, saw it! That was tempting!
Pan Qiyi could hardly breathe, but she still tried her best to protect her breast from being peeked! She was so cold that her teeth were chattering and her whole body was trembling.
She clamored at Dong Ling, “You! Wait and see!”
Threatening her? Funny. Would Dong Ling be scared?
HELL NO!
Dong Ling was a proud girl. She scoffed, “Mind your own business! Don’t take your undeserved gain for granted and don’t get yourself humiliated!”
She sounded really ironical, which stung Pan Qiyi a lot! The latter was annoyed and struggled to stand up! She glared at Dong Ling. It looked like she wouldn’t calm down unless she killed Dong Ling!
Dong Ling remained calm and didn’t give a damn.
Pan Qiyi yelled again, “Wait and see! I will…”
“Will what? Kill me or skin me?” asked Dong Ling.
With tears in her eyes, Pan Qiyi suddenly remembered that Wu Jitian was still beside them. She changed immediately and pretended to be weak again. She looked around and said miserably, “How… how cruel you are!”
“What a bitch!” thought Dong Ling. She then replied, “Well, Miss Dong, take care of yourself then. I’ll be waiting for you.”
Come on. Dong Ling had been perfectly trained since she was born. A mere girl like Pan Qiyi wasn’t even qualified to upset her.
Wu Jitian gave a satisfied smile. He found Dong Ling braver and that made him admire her more. As for Pan Qiyi? Who cared?
All he wanted was to leave this place with Dong Ling and stay with her alone.
Though he came to the poetry competition for her, he failed to talk to her at all! He was too impatient to calm down!
Finally, they could leave. He could never waste any of his precious time on Pan Qiyi. He walked through the crowd with Dong Ling. Before he was going to ask something, Dong Ling put a question first and stopped him.
She asked, “What brought you here?”
She looked confused, because in her mind, Wu Jitian was never a guy who would come to such a place and have fun. So, why did he show up somewhere she just arrived?
What a coincidence!
And was it a real coincidence? If it wasn’t, what did Wu Jitian exactly come for?
After she asked, Lin Zang, who was walking behind Wu Jitian, was stunned. Then he looked at his master anxiously.
The latter, on the country, was still calm, however frequently Dong Ling looked him up and down!
“Well, after you left, I suddenly remembered that I buried something in a village nearby. Then I came to fetch it. What’s wrong with that?” replied Wu Jitian.
Seeing his master lying so confidently, Lin Zang couldn’t help giving a thumbs-up in his heart.
“Oh?” Dong Ling blinked and asked, “Really?”
Lin Zang was a little guilty. He lowered his head and didn’t dare to look into Dong Ling’s eyes.
But Wu Jitian still smiled. He enjoyed the fun today and saw a different Dong Ling! What a lucky day for him!
Quite delighted, he explained some more to make Dong Ling happy.
“Okay, I see.” replied Dong Ling seriously.
As they spoke, they arrived at a roadside tea-stall.
Dong Ling talked a lot today and felt very thirsty. She needed some cold tea to calm herself down.
Seeing this, Wu Jitian went into the tea-stall with her. He didn’t care if a noble prince like him should stay in such a small tea-stall.
The waiter greeted them, “Welcome! Please sit down!”
