From then onwards, his recollection of events started to fade away. However, when Ling Chuxia first smiled at him, it was irresistible. That memory was etched permanently in his heart.
–
Shi Che’s hand suddenly released Ling Chuxia. He turned to lock her shoulder instead. With a twist, Ling Chuxia’s back was facing him, with her cascading long hair concealing her cheeks. He could no longer see her face or her expression.
Ling Chuxia had initially thought that she would suffocate from Shi Che’s choke. To her amazement, he suddenly let go of his grip. Before Ling Chuxia was able to steady herself, a wave of dizziness hit her and she was completely crushed under the wave. In the next second, a searing pain engulfed her entire body.
Ling Chuxia gasped and her color paled quickly.
During such episodes, Ling Chuxia was habitually terrified, especially when Shi Che responded with murderous rage.
He was not behaving like he was making love with her. Instead, it was as if he was cutting her flesh with a knife. Each cut pierced her with excruciating pain.
Ling Chuxia had sensed that Shi Che was more irritable and enraged than before. He pressed down on her body and brutally hit her. Each forceful hit was deadly.
Ling Chuxia had felt nothing but pain. Agonizing pain, unlike dull pain which was only registered in the brain. It was as if all the blood in her body had frozen. She was trembling with cold uncontrollably.
Ling Chuxia could only bite on a pillow to endure the pain and to prevent herself from screaming out loud.
Shi Che moved in silence, Ling Chuxia suffered in silence. That was the intimacy between the married couple and yet it was analogous to a life and death battle.
No one knew how much time had passed when it was finally over.
Ling Chuxia felt as if all the bones in her body were rearranged. She wondered if earlier Shi Che’s brutality was all about taking her life.
She lay flat on the bed for quite a long while before she could regain her strength. She breathed in and slowly raised her head.
Shi Che was lying beside her with his eyes slightly shut. He was still panting. His furrowed eyebrows were wrinkled and it made him seem unwell.
Ling Chuxia watched his expression and although she was still frightened of him, she had not forgotten her duty. She was least bothered by her own pain as she struggled to prop herself up. She moved gently and inquired with tender loving care, “Young Master, are you unwell? Is your headache acting up? Shall I bring you some medicine?”
Shi Che was quick to open his eyes.
He slanted his face to look at Ling Chuxia. It was alarming to see all the blue-blacks on her entire body. That was evidence of his roughness. She was oblivious of her injuries and instead she was offering her concern.
Shi Che watched her for quite some time before he moved the corner of his lips slowly and chuckled.
