Chapter 49: Never Did He Care When She Cried (19)
“Who else could it be?” Ji Xinxin curled her lips in contempt.
Cheng Yuanyuan’s enthusiasm went up instantly, in stark contrast to Ji Xinxin’s disdainful attitude. Her smile was so wide and welcoming that her cheeks appeared to blossom.
“I see, it’s the young Mrs. Shi! No wonder you look so familiar. It’s a pleasure to meet you, the most envied lady by all women in Liangcheng!”
“Excuse me, all women except me.” Ji Xinxin corrected her unapologetically.
Cheng Yuanyuan threw an unflattering glance at Ji Xinxin and did not reply.
Ling Chuxia’s cheeks turned red at Cheng Yuanyuan’s words. She did not know what to say in response. She could only squeeze out a soft, “Thank you”.
Ji Xinxin’s attention suddenly turned to the skirt placed on the sofa by Cheng Yuanyuan. The scarlet garment was as bright as a burning flame. Its design was minimalistic yet fashionable. It was a piece of clothing that demanded attention.
Ji Xinxin’s love for fashion was only second to that of sports cars. Her eyes sparkled immediately as if she had chanced upon a treasure chest. Her slender finger pointed at the garment. “That’s a pretty skirt, bring it here so I can try it.”
“Not bad, you managed to spot the crown jewel so fast. This skirt was the main show at this season’s Paris Fashion Week. There’s only one in the entire world.”
The next moment, Cheng Yuanyuan shook her head and smiled. “But I’m so sorry Xinxin, the skirt has been bought by someone else.”
Ji Xinxin’s eyebrows twitched forcefully and asked calmly, “Who has such great taste?”
Cheng Yuanyuan’s expression became unfathomable as her smile seemed to hint at something. She glanced faintly at Ling Chuxia seated at the side and said, “Someone with a great judgment of course.”
“Cut the suspense, who is it?”
Cheng Yuanyuan covered her mouth and laughed. “Xinxin, why the hurry? You’ll know very soon. But what I can tell you is that a gentleman had ordered this garment, probably as a gift for his wife.”
Ji Xinxin did not notice the hidden message in Cheng Yuanyuan’s eyes and was still puzzled. She pressed on with her question. “Who exactly?”
Nonetheless, Cheng Yuanyuan was reluctant to reveal the answer. She continued to hide her smile with her hand from time and time and incessantly repeated herself. “You’ll know very soon!”
Ling Chuxia had felt the faint look thrown at her by Cheng Yuanyuan. But she had not understood the underlying message of that action.
After a long while, another customer walked into the store.
The man was dressed in a suit and stood tall and straight. He appeared to be from an elite background as he slowly strode in. Cheng Yuanyuan quickly noticed him and stood up. She smiled as she welcomed him. “Ah, speaking of the devil!”
Ling Chuxia and Ji Xinxin’s gaze shifted in the direction of Cheng Yuanyuan at the same time. As she saw the man who stepped in, Ling Chuxia involuntarily shivered.
As the man saw Ling Chuxia, he too was shocked. But he reacted quickly and walked towards her. He greeted her politely, “Young Mistress, what brings you here?”
