Chapter 51: Never Did He Care When She Cried (21)
That statement shut everyone up. The smile that Cheng Yuanyuan wore suddenly stiffened. Ji Xinxin made a curt “Hmm!” sound. Only Ling Chuxia showed no reaction as she stood at her spot. After a while, she retrieved the skirt that Cheng Yuanyuan was holding and walked towards Zhao. His apologetic expression even carried a hint of anxiety.
She looked up towards Zhao and a calm appearance showed on her pretty face. Her eyes appeared emotionless and her lips even seemed to slightly curl upwards. She let out a faint smile and spoke in her usual soft tone. “You should pass the skirt to the Young Master soon. Don’t delay his schedule.”
She then lifted her arms to pass Zhao the garment.
Zhao was stupefied at Ling Chuxia’s nonchalance at that moment. There was no way Mr. Shi bought a lady’s dress for his personal wardrobe. This particular clothing also could not be for Mrs. Shi, and neither was it for Ling Chuxia. That meant Mr. Shi had designated the skirt for another woman.
Her own husband had specially reserved a ceremonial garment for another lady, but she remained calm and undisturbed. She had even kindly reminded him to not delay Mr. Shi’s schedule.
Zhao could tell that Ling Chuxia’s calm demeanor now was not one that was artificially suppressed. Rather, it was a genuine state of zen, so zen that in fact, Mr. Shi did not seem like her husband but just another man on the street.
Zhao had always known that Mr. Shi and the Young Mistress did not gel very well. But he had not expected their relationship to be this grave.
Zhao’s hands involuntarily shook a little as he received the skirt. He controlled himself and nodded towards Ling Chuxia slightly before turning away to leave.
After Zhao left, Ling Chuxia walked back to the sofa as if nothing had happened. She picked up her cup and took a sip of tea.
Ji Xinxin seemed to be used to Ling Chuxia’s state of affairs. She did not even bother to comment on the situation, as she turned her head towards Cheng Yuanyuan, who stood by the side extremely awkwardly, “Where’s the clothing that I was waiting for? I’m in a rush!”

After a while, Ji Xinxin and Ling Chuxia took the lift down to the basement car park.
Ji Xinxin walked at the front with her garments as Ling Chuxia trailed behind her. The two were silent as they walked towards where the car was parked.
Suddenly, Ji Xinxin halted her steps. Ling Chuxia was confused but stopped walking as well. She followed Ji Xinxin’s gaze that was cast straight ahead.
The car was parked not too far ahead of them.
But… a few others were standing right beside their car right now. One of the men had sharp features and a tall build. He wore a perfectly tailored suit that seemed to radiate his handsomeness. He may just as well be standing lazily and not doing much. Still, he could easily capture the attention of passers-by and enthrall anyone who looked in his direction.
