Actual Fairytale – Picking up a Mermaid! (29)
Lu Shijin and Shen Shao were taken to the deep sea by the brothers.
This was a world that no human had seen before, a kingdom hidden beneath the ocean floor.
There was no water here, and very little life, but other than that, it was pretty much the same as it was on land. Merpeople had formed their own culture here.
Merpeople would typically be in human form here. Although there weren’t as many merpeople as humans, they were far more united.
Through countless years, they had evolved to the top of the ocean food chain, becoming the most intelligent creatures there were.
They developed many technologies and worked together to create this kingdom. If Lu Shijin hadn’t seen it first hand, he would never be able to imagine what kind of prosperous world resided under the sea.
Merpeople had lived with ocean animals for millions of years and understood them very well.
Because of this, merpeople were centuries ahead of humans in terms of biological research.
So it wasn’t that strange that they would develop a way to impregnate males to increase their population.
Only after seeing the other male merpeople did Lu Shijin realize that not all of them were ugly like how they were described in human books.
A female merperson and male human could have a child, and a male merperson and a female human could also have a child.
The kind of child born by a human would inherit their mother’s appearance.
Jun Yu and Jun Li’s mother was a beautiful female human whom the previous king, their father, accidentally rescued.
No wonder Lu Shijin didn’t think Jun Yu was a merperson the first time he saw him.
Merpeople had a low population, so most of the work was done by robots.
The Merpeople King’s palace was huge, but only the king and his brother actually lived there.
But it was different now. Two humans joined them.
Lu Shijin and Shen Shao were the only humans there. Jun Yu gave them artificial gills to allow them to survive underwater.
However, they normally had no chance to go into the actual ocean. They were trapped inside the palace, and even when they were allowed to go outside, the only merpeople they had contact with were Jun Yu and Jun Li.
Lu Shijin was doing alright. Although he was forced there by Jun Yu, he didn’t reject anything after finding out who Jun Yu is. He just pretended to be unwilling.
But Shen Shao was different. He was still in shock after his gentle and cute merperson became an aggressive male merperson, and couldn’t accept that he was being forced to give birth to children.
Give birth? What a joke! Where was his pride as a man?
Shen Shao hadn’t stopped thinking about escaping since coming here, and often encouraged Lu Shijin to escape with him.
One day, Jun Yu and Jun Li went out to patrol. Shen Shao avoided all the AI and came to Lu Shijin’s room.
Lu Shijin was using the artificial sunbath and was a bit surprised to see Shen Shao. “Why are you here?”
Unlike the glowing and alert Lu Shijin, Shen Shao seemed to be filled with worry, his very spirit seeming a lot more faded.
Shen Shao first apologized with remorse, “Shijin, I really brought you down, making it so that you were also be kidnapped and had to endure all this humiliation. I’m sorry.”
Lu Shijin smiled weakly. “It’s fine, you shouldn’t feel guilty. It’s not your fault. Who would’ve thought that these merpeople would be so weird. The most important thing is to live, it’s fine if we undergo a bit of pain.”
“No!” Shen Shao said in pain, “We can’t just accept it, who knows what they’ll do?!”
“Then . . . What are you going to do?”
Shen Shao’s gaze was firm as he looked at Lu Shijin. “We need a way to escape from their evil clutches!”
Lu Shijin blinked, feeling that it was a bit interesting.
He was forcibly brought here by Jun Yu, so it should be pretty in character for him to escape and be captured back.
“What’s your plan?” Lu Shijin asked with interest.”
“We need a chance to make them faint, then we’ll leave together.”
“How do we make them faint?”
Shen Shao handed a bottle with a blue liquid to Lu Shijin. “This is something I secretly made in the lab, even a tiny bit will make a person faint. As long as you get Jun Yu to ingest it, I can guarantee that he’ll be out for over a day. That will be our chance to escape.”
As expected of a good scientist, he could concoct a drug so easily.
But Lu Shijin was cautious and asked, “Will this just make them faint? It won’t kill them, right?”
“If it was poison, then I wouldn’t need to be so careful. I’d just pour it in their water source and be done with it.”
“Heh, I was just asking.” Lu Shijin said, “I just feel that they didn’t actually hurt us, despite kidnapping us, so they don’t deserve death.”
Shen Shao sized Lu Shijin up, asking with suspicion. “You don’t actually like Jun Yu, right?”
“No!” Lu Shijin hurriedly waved his hands in denial, “Definitely not! How could I! That fish is so weird, egoistic and narcissistic, how could I like him?”
Shen Shao let out a breath of relief. “As long as you don’t.”
“Speaking of.” Lu Shijin tested him out, “Do you feel nothing for Jun Li anymore?”
Hearing Jun Lin’s name, Shen Shao’s face immediately reddened, saying, “He disobeyed me and forced me into this kind of place with no sun, could he love me? He even . . . he even forced me to do that kind of thing, making me . . . making me . . . !”
Shen Shao paused, seeming unwilling to say it out loud. “It’s too shameful!”
Lu Shijin naturally knew what Shen Shao was talking about and soothed him. “I know what you mean. How about this, I’ll listen to you. Once you get the chance, I’ll work with you and we’ll escape together.”
Shen Shao patted Lu Shijin’s shoulder in gratitude. “Good, it’s my fault you’re here, I’ll definitely bring you out safely.”
Lu Shijin smiled, but secretly apologized to Shen Shao.
He didn’t want to escape at all, and he couldn’t help Shen Shao leave Jun Li, so he could only let him down.
