Real Fairytale (Extra)
Shen Shao usually took care of Xiao Li’s everything when he was home, not letting anyone help.
Children need sleep to grow well. Shen Shao prepared to rock his child to sleep like usual that afternoon, but Xiao Li seemed to have gotten used to how Ai Luo did it and wouldn’t go to sleep no matter how long Shen Shao rocked them for.
In the end, it was still Ai Luo who took Xiao Li and brought them to the nursery to sleep. Shen Shao went to the study to work.
After two hours, Shen Shao came out of the study. Not seeing Xiao Li, he went to the nursery.
Quietly opening the door, he saw that Xiao Li was in deep sleep, and Ai Luo was leaning against it, also asleep. He didn’t forget to comfort the child even in sleep, and would occasionally pat the blanket.
Shen Shao quietly walked over to the bed and noticed a slight bump to the blanket. Lifting it up, he saw that the child’s legs had become a pretty pink tail.
It was probably because they peed and their diaper wasn’t changed.
Shen Shao picked up Xiao Li, bringing him to the other side of the bed, preparing to change the diaper once the tail turned back into legs.
Coincidentally, Ai Luo patted the blanket and didn’t feel the child, causing him to jump up and look around. He accidentally met a dark gaze.
“Mr. Shen, it’s you.” Ai Luo sighed in relief. Seeing that Shen Shao was in the process of changing Xiao Li’s diaper, he hurriedly stood up and apologized. “I’m sorry, I fell asleep. Let me change the diapers.”
“No need, I can do it.” Shen Shao coldly pushed Ai Luo’s hand away and used a wipe to clean the child’s body.
For some reason, Xiao Li didn’t wake up after changing the diaper.
Shen Shao was busy at work these days and would often return home late, long after Xiao Li went to sleep.
He realized that he was spending less time with his child, so he sat down beside the bed, wanting to play with them.
Shen Shao didn’t tell Ai Luo to leave, nor did he recognize his presence, so Ai Luo could only stand there awkwardly.
Eventually, Ai Luo took a deep breath and tried to break the silence, “I can see that Mr. Shen really loves your child.”
Shen Shao made a sound of agreement and remarked, “No parent wouldn’t love their children.”
Ai Luo wasn’t expecting Shen Shao to actually respond and blinked, asking courageously, “Mr. Shen, I’ve only seen you taking care of Xiao Li by yourself, what about your partner?”
Shen Shao looked down at his child’s cute sleeping face and fell silent. He eventually said, “I don’t have one.”
Something flashed across Ai Luo’s eyes and he lowered his head to hide it, “Oh, I spoke too much. Apologies, Mr. Shen.”
Shen Shao’s face was blank. “It’s fine, it’s not a secret.”
“Then . . .” Ai Luo hesitated before asking, “Have you thought about finding a mother for Xiao Li? It’s still best for children to grow up with both parents. It’s better for their mental health.”
Shen Shao turned, sizing up Ai Luo, “Do you think that I won’t be able to raise Xiao Li properly as a single parent?”
Ai Luo faltered at his reaction and avoided his gaze, “No, that’s not what I meant, it was just from a professional point of view. If you don’t want that, then pretend I never said anything.”
“It’s enough for Xiao Li to have me.” Shen Shao took back his gaze and said, “I’m enough.”
He emphasized his words a lot, and it wasn’t clear if he was saying it for Ai Luo or himself.
Time passed, and when Xiao Li was a year old, Shen Shao’s mother felt that Shen Shao couldn’t take care of a child by himself forever, and began nagging at him to find a partner.
But she wasn’t sure about Shen Shao’s sexuality. He liked women before, but ever since he gave birth, did he still like women?
Shen Shao’s mother thought about it for a long time before finally asking Shen Shao.
Shen Shao wasn’t adverse to finding a partner, and said that he didn’t care about their gender. He only had one condition.
They had to like children and be kind to his child, as if Xiao Li was their own.
Countless people wanted to marry into a rich family like the Shens. Even if Shen Shao had tens of children, they would still storm his gates to be their step-parent.
After getting his son’s permission, Shen Shao’s mother began spreading the news.
She was familiar with a lot of people. Before, the only reason they didn’t push for marriages was because they knew Shen Shao had a hereditary disease and couldn’t live long. Now that he was cured, they were very eager to marry into the Shen family.
With so many candidates, Shen Shao’s mother decided on a young miss who had similar social and economic background as Shen Shao.
Her surname was Fang and seemed to be kind and accepting. She was also a medical doctor, matching with Shen Shao on multiple accounts.
The most important thing was that Miss Fang was a DINK (Double Income No Kids). If she married Shen Shao, then she would definitely treat Xiao Li as her own.
Shen Shao’s mother first met with Miss Fang and found her very satisfactory. She began organizing the meeting between her and Shen Shao afterwards.
That night, Shen Shao’s mother told Shen Shao about Miss Fang and asked if he was willing to meet with her.
