The Eternal Heart - Chapter 60
Chapter 60: Yi Yunfei
Tong Yuling walked over in a daze from her stunned state, following the rumbling collapse of the Ferocious Red-horned Ox’s corpse.
The continuous attacks Chen Yu unleashed in the final instance was just too quick.
He first used the Wind Song Sword’s “Violent Storm Slash” and unleashed a series of sharp yet disorderly slashes to open its injuries. Finally, he used the [Mysterious Heavy Sword]’s Heavy Slash to deal the fatal blow in a single move!
What was more astonishing was that these series of killing blows were completed in mid-air. He even forcibly borrowed the power of the Ferocious Ox while doing so. This wasn’t something ordinary martial artists at the Visceral Tempering stage could do.
Hoo!
Chen Yu heaved a long sigh of relief once he landed on the ground. With his tyrannical physique, he had used the power stored up in his heart many times just now, which had consumed a lot of his strength.
That was surely the case during his final slash. The mysterious heart had even almost reached the critical point of the Explosive Key.
What Chen Yu found unexpected though was that the realm of perfection for his [Metal Sword Burst] almost burst out in that thrilling fight just now, especially in his final slash.
It seemed as though actual combat involving the matters of life and death in this manner could stimulate the potential of his body even more.
“Quickly gather the essence blood and bone marrow.”
Tong Yuling soon circulated her Inner Breath. She reached her hand out and dotted quite a few places on the Ferocious Ox continuously several times.
Chen Yu then took out a water sack and used the Wind Song Sword to slash the Ferocious Ox’s skin open. He then retrieved the specific blood essence within its bone marrow.
Other than that, the most valuable item on the Ferocious Red-horned Ox’s body was the pair of horns it had. It could be exchanged for a sum of Metastones when they took it back.
Soon enough, Chen Yu was extremely pleased as he loaded the water sack full of the Barbaric Ox’s Marrow. This portion was adequate. He didn’t need to worry about the material for the second “Body Tempering Prescription” anymore.
Whoosh, swish!
All of a sudden, a figure dashed over in a hurry from a distance.
Who was it?!
Chen Yu and Tong Yuling stared at the person who had just arrived. It was a man in white clothes with sharp eyebrows and starry eyes. He was rushing over with an unfriendly expression on his face.
“Both of you, leave the Ferocious Ox’s Essence Blood and Horns behind!” said the white-clothed man in a flustered and exasperated manner when he saw the water sack and ox horns on them.
What?
Chen Yu and Tong Yuling exchanged a glance as they found this a bit incredulous.
“Humph! This ox was fighting with me for a very long time before this. The condition of the injuries on its body was severe and it had consumed a large amount of its physical strength. If that weren’t the case, how could the two of you succeed so easily?” said the white-clothed man in a slightly infuriated manner.
Unbeknownst to the two of them, he truly did encounter this Ferocious Ox first. He was fighting it for a very long time alone an hour ago. In just a moment, he succeeded in encumbering this ox by half.
But how could he help it that a flock of Ferocious Birds would suddenly appear nearby? He had no choice but to temporarily withdraw since they were not few in numbers at all.
When he finally managed to shake that flock of Ferocious Birds off with much difficulty and found the Ferocious Red-horned Ox once more, the duo before his eyes were having their way with it.
On the other hand, Chen Yu and Tong Yuling wore odd expressions on their faces.
They did discover injuries when they just encountered the Ferocious Ox. Other than that, Chen Yu felt that the Ferocious Ox really didn’t use that much of its power towards the end when they were engaged in combat. It wasn’t that fierce and malicious like what was depicted in the rumors.
Could it be that the white-clothed man was telling the truth? That person could actually fight the Ferocious Ox alone and even be assured of his success?
Chen Yu and Tong Yuling exchanged a meaningful glance and came to a decision.
“How about this? You might have possibly exerted a little bit of effort in killing the Ferocious Red-horned Ox. We’ll give you one ox’s horn,” Chen Yu said after contemplating.
“Exerted a little bit of effort? What a joke! I can kill that ox alone. Leave all of the essence blood and ox’s horn behind. I’ll leave the remaining leather and bones to you guys.” The man in white clothes sneered in response.
A powerful gust of wind sprung up from the man in white clothes once he finished talking.
A surge of Inner Breath at the Visceral Tempering stage oppressed them as it came along.
Middle Visceral Tempering stage!
Tong Yuling was taken aback. The strength of the Inner Breath coming from the other party greatly exceeded that of ordinary Visceral Tempering stage cultivators.
“You guys still have the chance to leave with your skin and bones.”
The man in white clothes was very assertive.
“You’re raving like a lunatic! Don’t think that you’ll get half of the ox’s horn now.”
Tong Yuling soon wore a cold expression on her face.
A surge of fiendish qi sprung up from Chen Yu’s body as he did not back down.
“You’re courting death!”
The man in white wore an inward look of rage on his face. He slashed out with one palm as a surge of Inner Breath palm force pounced right at the two, resembling a cold whistling stream that looked like a snowstorm.
In a split second, a surge of violent and cold intent enveloped Chen Yu and Tong Yuling.
Slash!
Tong Yuling was the first to attack. A cold rainbow in the image of a sword that was as thick as a python trembled out of the soft sword in her hands. Sword light and streams of air wildly rolled as it happened.
“Peng, bang!”
Tong Yuling’s expression changed immensely in the instant the two surges of Inner Breath clashed with one another.
Bang!
A cold flow of Inner Breath that resembled an astonishing wave pushed her a few steps back continuously. Her elegant face turned pale as she almost spat out blood.
“Elder Martial Sister Tong.”
Chen Yu looked greatly alarmed. He never thought that a casual attack from the other party would actually injure Tong Yuling.
Hoo, bang!
A surge of revolving cold stream and powerful qi spread to Chen Yu at the same time, which congealed his qi and blood and made it turn cold. If an ordinary martial artist at the Connective Meridian stage was in his shoes, they might have already sustained serious injuries.
“Hmm? A martial artist at the initial Visceral Tempering stage and the Connective Meridian stage can actually resist an attack from me at 60% of my power.”
The man in white clothes found this to be a little unexpected.
When she heard this, Tong Yuling felt dumbstruck in her mind. This man in white clothes was in reality, quite valiant in terms of his strength. It was no wonder why he could talk so big.
“Bullshit! I haven’t attacked yet.” Chen Yu softly cursed. The other party really thought that he was fighting two people just now.
“Connective Meridian stage?”
The man in white clothes glanced at Chen Yu disdainfully. He swayed and pounced at Tong Yuling once more.
He completely ignored Chen Yu.
As long as he debilitated Tong Yuling, who was at the Visceral Tempering stage, the duo would naturally beg for forgiveness.
“Secret Cold Water Technique!”
The man in white clothes slowly waved his palm and struck out a cold wave of palm force that was far colder and violent than before. The attack made a beeline for Tong Yuling.
But in the next moment.
Hu, chi!
Rays of gloriously silver sword light that were as heavy as 300,000 catties hacked the man in white from the side of his body with a formless and heavy pressure, as well as scathing fiendish qi.
Huh?!
The man in white went stiff as he felt the qi and blood in his body sink. The other party’s sword had yet to arrive, but he had already felt an abrupt pressure from the fierce and heavy winds.
“Take an attack from my sword!”
A cold glint flashed in Tong Yuling’s eyes. The soft sword in her hands dragged out a sword rainbow that resembled a waterfall as a hint of a bloody awn appeared on its surface.
Her sword had a strange surge of blood qi. Its might was a notch higher than before and was comparable to a middle Visceral Tempering stage cultivator.
The man in white clothes became astonished when the duo erupted at the same time.
Whoosh!
He laughed coldly as he swayed, his figure resembling a demon. That chilly violent palm with a cold wave struck Tong Yuling while he was creating distance between Chen Yu and himself.
Whoosh, boom!
Tong Yuling was pushed a few steps back amidst a series of rushed explosions. A wisp of blood seeped out from the corner of her lips while her pale face looked aghast.
Tai!
Chen Yu’s heavy sword rigidly sealed up the direction the man in white clothes was crashing into.
“Treasured weapon?”
The man in white clothes lightly smiled and single-handedly took out a sparkling and translucent treasured sword that overflowed with cold air. He then slowly slashed out with it.
Hua, chi!
A sword wave that resembled a sheet of icy-coldness formed a small icy tornado as it vibrated Chen Yu’s sword that contained the energy he had stored up within it.
Boom, crack!
It was as though the [Mysterious Heavy Sword] in Chen Yu’s hands chopped into a wall of rolling hail.
“Break!”
His figure was like a gigantic ape. Ding, chi! The heavy sword in his hands slashed open that small icy-cold whirlwind with all its might as it crisscrossed with the other party’s sparkling and translucent treasured sword for an instant.
Thump!
The man in white clothes floated a few meters back as he felt a wave of tremendous power surging over his direction.
Chen Yu was standing in the same spot for a long time. He felt as though the arm holding the sword was covered in frost. It was as if it was frozen. It was almost difficult for him to unleash his power.
Hoo!
His heart soon abruptly pulsed as he circulated his Inner Breath. A flow of surging heat rushed forth and dispelled more than half of the cold force.
Even so, Chen Yu felt that he almost suffered an internal injury from that attack. His meridians were even slightly clogged up with silt.
“How inconceivable. A mere martial artist at the middle Connective Meridian stage can actually bring out the might of a treasured weapon and take a sword from me, Yi Yunfei.”
The man in white clothes had an astonished look on his face.
One had to know that he had similarly used a treasured sword. Even though he was fighting against the two of them, he caught Chen Yu’s sword in a hurry.
“Yi Yunfei! You’re that True Disciple from the Water Moon Faction?” Tong Yuling cried out involuntarily after hearing his name.
She had heard of this person’s name before. There were many females in the Water Moon Faction but only a few males. What’s more, the male True Disciples amongst them were as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns.
A flash of understanding washed over her as she smiled bitterly. It was no wonder why she was no match for him even after prompting the power of that item so that the strength of her attack reached the middle Visceral Tempering stage.
“This is the power of a True Disciple?”
Chen Yu had a grave expression.
He could unleash the enormous might of the [Mysterious Heavy Sword] due to his physical constitution and the [Bronze Statue Technique]. This wasn’t something those at the Visceral Tempering stage could do either.
Under normal circumstances, Chen Yu could suppress ordinary martial artists at the initial Visceral Tempering stage with the force of the [Mysterious Heavy Sword] without using the heart’s Explosive Key.
Hoo!
Bathump! Bathump!
Chen Yu’s heart soon sped up. He was faintly going to prompt the heart’s Explosive Key. Only then would he have a possibility of turning the tides.
Unfortunately, at this moment.
“Yi Yunfei”, the man in white clothes across him looked at the sky up ahead. When he did so, his expression changed immensely.
Hmm?
Chen Yu suddenly felt waves of fiendish qi hitting him directly in the face.
He turned his head around and took a look.
There was a sea of densely packed black dots in the sky behind him. It resembled a wave of black clouds that were pushing as it headed in this direction.
“Ah!”
“There are so many Ferocious Birds. Run for it—”
Two youths wearing conical bamboo hats were battered and exhausted as they leaped in this direction.
Why did he have a feeling that this voice sounded familiar?
Those black spots in the sky were Ferocious Birds that were as large as wicker baskets. Every single one of them had sharp beaks and black feathers with ominous glints in their eyes, as well as scathing fiendish qi.
There were maybe over ten thousand Ferocious Birds that one could see. The sheer amount made one’s scalp go numb.
Every single Ferocious Bird had auras that were close to the Ferocious Black Pig Beast they killed before. There were also a few with even larger builds amongst them. The gigantic Ferocious Birds that had auras similar to the Ferocious Red-horned Ox were three meters wide when they spread their wings.
“The soul of the deceased has yet to disperse. Why did this flock of Ferocious Birds appear?” The man in white clothes rained curses as he turned furious once more.
Hoo, hua!
Ferocious Birds that hid the sky and covered the earth engulfed everything whilst bearing a surge of evil wind.
The conical bamboo hat atop the two youth’s heads dropped amidst the gale. They were even tangled up with a few Ferocious Birds.
“Senior Martial Brother Li? Senior Martial Brother Wu?”
Chen Yu was stunned as he looked at the duo before his eyes.
These two youths were Li Dahui and Wu Yu, his Senior Martial Brothers under the same Master.
“Younger Martial Brother Chen! Huh? Yi Yunfei, why are you here too?”
Wu Yu was startled when he saw Chen Yu and the boy dressed in white at the same time.
“Run for it!”
Li Dahui waved a treasured broadsword. He slashed out blade winds that resembled a ripple and wrung a few Ferocious Birds to death.
The duo attacked and created a bloody path out of the battlefield before rendezvousing with Chen Yu and the other guy.
“You two! Why have you attracted so many Ferocious Birds…”
Yi Yunfei’s face turned green while his voice was trembling lightly.
When he was fighting the Ferocious Red-horned Ox alone before this, he had no other choice but to cease doing so all because he encountered a flock of Ferocious Birds. When he shook them off with much difficulty, Chen Yu and Tong Yuling managed to gain a steal from his efforts.
Things were just great.
These two fellows who came from who knows where attracted more than ten times the number of Ferocious Birds from before.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The party of five had no choice but to work together and cut a bloody path out of the battlefield as they fled toward the depths of the mountain range to face the army of Ferocious Birds that resembled a black wave.
“Find a river or a cave!”
Yi Yunfei thought of a countermeasure to deal with the situation.
Whoosh, whoosh!
Everyone was breathing raggedly as they ran for more than 50 kilometers. They didn’t see a river, but they saw a sinister and pitch-black cave.
“Get in!”
The few people didn’t care about the appearance so much as they dove into the cave with a fishy smell that assailed one’s nostrils.
Inside the cave was narrow and complex topography. Fortunately, those Ferocious Birds hovered around outside and didn’t enter.
“Senior Martial Brother Li, Senior Martial Brother Wu. Why is it that both of you have appeared here? You even attracted the pursuit of this flock of Ferocious Birds,” Chen Yu couldn’t help but question them closely.
He had a kind of feeling that someone was following his tracks and spying on him when they had arrived in the mountain range.
It can’t be these two fellows, right?
