Chapter 56
Gulp-
Keivrand’s throat moved.
He closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them.
But it didn’t work.
He thought, this innocent woman, she doesn’t know what kind of sound she’s making right now.
It was unimaginable how men feel when they hear such a sound.
Apart from his unwillingness to get Iris drunk before she’s ready, today was the night before the wedding.
The bride needed plenty of rest and to be in her best condition for the wedding.
‘Hold. Hold it in, Keivrand Green. You better hold back.’
No, he doesn’t know if he can. So far, there haven’t been many moments to endure.
“Ah…um…”
‘Ah, I can’t stand it.’
It seems he doesn’t have any patience at all.
“Irie.”
“Huh?”
“I…how should I put it?”
Relying on a very thin string of reason left, Keivrand spoke with difficulty.
“That noise…”
“Noise? Ah!”
Iris covered her mouth with her hands. But it couldn’t cover all of her flushed face.
‘I’m sure he’s just looking at my calves.’
Seeing Iris’ face made it even more unbearable.
The thin string of reason wasn’t strong enough to withstand Iris’ flushed face.
When he came to his senses, he climbed on top of Iris and kissed her.
Swallowing the sweet saliva didn’t end the thirst. No, it got worse.
He managed to pull his lips off and look down. He saw her staring at him with moist eyes.
It was fortunate that even in the midst of losing his mind, he didn’t want to scare her.
He swept the corner of her eye with his thumb.
“Are you crying?”
“Me? What?”
“Because you’re scared.”
Iris’ eyes narrowed.
“I’m not afraid of you, Kei.”
“But your eyes are wet.”
Iris reaches out. She swept the corner of Keivrand’s eye with her thumb just as he had done to her.
The very short touch felt hot. The fever that started around the eyes spread throughout the body.
“Your eyes are also wet, Kei.”
She had a realization as her words fell.
That she doesn’t reject him anymore.
That she wasn’t afraid of what’s going to happen. She was ready to accept Keivrand.
“Irie. You’re hot.”
Iris smiled slightly.
“I’ve been hot for a long time.”
Keivrand wanted to submerge everything in here right now. He wanted to make every corner of it his own. He wanted to bury his smell in her and prove that it’s his.
But he decided to endure it today.
Tomorrow, Iris is the main character.
She, the main character, should not limp in pain.
“Irie, Cel catches on quick.”
Iris pressed Keivrand’s lips with her index finger.
The quick-witted Iris quickly understood what Keivrand meant. It means that they can’t ruin the wedding that Celestine and Melanie had worked hard to prepare. Celestine will notice immediately why it would be ruined.
Iris also wanted to host the wedding in her best condition.
“Don’t worry, Kei. I’ll be hot tomorrow too.”
* * *
Keivrand’s fastened voice was good to hear, Iris thought.
She could tell from his hoarse voice how much he wanted her, and yet how much he was trying to control his reason.
It was lovely to know that. But unfortunately, he was so lovely that she was no longer afraid.
No, rather, she wanted him. She hoped that their scent could intertwine.
Even when he had kissed her roughly, she didn’t think of her past life. There was no fear, no tension. She believed he would never hurt her.
So she realized.
‘Oh, I see. I love this man. Before I knew it, that’s what happened.’
Iris, the flower that shyly put out its head, must have bloomed without her knowing.
She wasn’t afraid even though she knew this emotion was love.
Although this feeling may be new, it wasn’t enough to scare her.
The flower that bloomed in Iris’ heart was sturdy and strong.
* * *
The wedding ceremony is to be held at noon when the sun is bright.
The sky was clear and blue without a speck of cloud.
Iris had to get up as early as dawn to start getting dressed.
Even the designer Tilette had come with her assistants.
“I just wanted to see with my own eyes the best work of my life.”
However, it had taken longer than either of the rehearsal parties.
With the help of Tilette and Christina, they were able to pair the perfect hairstyle and accessories to match the perfect dress.
“Oh my god.”
Looking at Iris who was all set, Tilette wept.
“I can’t believe I made that dress…Countess, you’re so… I’m sure Countess is the only one who can pull off that dress well. It’s perfect. It’s the best work of my life.”
Tilette complimented wildly as the assistants nodded in agreement.
“It’s time now…Oh my god!”
Celestine, who came to call Iris, sucked in her breath.
“What the hell, Irie. Why are you so pretty? This is a little…Wow, it’s unbelievable. Irie.”
“I’m flattered, Cel. It’s embarrassing if you say that.”
“No, no. This isn’t enough. No, I knew you would be beautiful. I really knew…No, just…Wow, you’re so beautiful. Well, this is a big problem.”
“Why?”
“Irie is so dazzling that it will be hard for anyone to have a good look at you.”
The siblings are the same, Iris thought.
She was dumbfounded.
It was the same when it came to beauty with Celestine. Befitting her brother’s wedding, a dress that’s elegant, poised, yet has a slightly sexy feel to it, Celestine took it all in.
Iris was at a loss for words when Celestine made such a fuss.
“Anyway! We have to go now. The carriage is waiting.”
The leading horse for the carriage waiting in front of the main building was Black, Keivrand’s black horse.
Black huffed in a dignified manner, then made a cute ‘hing’ sound to see if Iris recognized him.
Celestine stopped Iris from approaching Black to pet him.
“Not now, Irie. Hurry up and get in the carriage. Black, you stop making noises also.”
Celestine scolded Black and helped Iris into the carriage.
The skirt of the dress spread wide and had to be helped by several people to get in the carriage. A few people got in the carriage, so they can help her when it’s time to get off.
The carriage windows were covered with thick curtains. It made it impossible to look inside from the outside.
“I’ve already explained the procedure, but I’ll explain again.”
While Celestine was repeating the procedure that she had already told Iris about ten times, the carriage ran nonstop toward the lake where the wedding was held.
* * *
Since the wedding was led by Countess Melanie Jennel, everyone had guessed that it would be spectacular.
However, all the nobles gathered here had the same thought. That the wedding went beyond spectacular.
The vast lake, the trek around the wide open space of the lake, and the splendidly decorated dense trees that grew beyond it.
Somehow, the trees surrounding the lake had white leaves and white stems, and between the leaves, gems of various colors sparkled.
Walking along the perimeter of the lake and down the grassy knoll was a large clearing where the ceremony will take place.
Looking closely at the white arch, one can see various kinds of jewels embedded, and encircling each side were light pink flowers that were colorful and elegant.
Beneath the banquet hall that was built in an open space was a brick path. It was a type of brick that wasn’t completely white but made with pastel-toned sand to give off a sweet feeling.
The guest seats and tables are white, while the tablecloth is light blue, so it goes well with the bricks on the ground.
The seats were placed so that they were facing the lake, and there was a memorial stone made of white marble placed at the officiating platform.
What impressed the guests the most was the visible lake behind the officiating platform. All the rocks in the lake were turned into beautiful colored stones, making the lake shine colorful in the sunlight.
It was a fantastic sight that can never be seen again once they leave here.
‘By the way, who is the officiant for today?’
The guests, who were deeply impressed by the lake, finally questioned the carriage parked near the officiating platform.
There was no family carriage with a crest that had a mixture of white and sky blue.
It couldn’t have been the bride’s carriage. The bride’s carriage waits at the end of the wedding aisle and behind the groom.
But if they think about it, Iris has shown such unconventional appearance, such as wearing a black dress during the rehearsal party.
Perhaps she’ll appear out of that white carriage.
‘Then she’s going to look terrible. The dress looked good for the rehearsal party, but it’s not good to show such a bizarre taste for the wedding.’
‘The lake is so dazzling that the bride might get overshadowed.’
‘I want to get married in a place like this. Maybe they can lend it to me?’
With various thoughts in mind, the guest seats were densely packed as the wedding time approached.
The Crown Prince sat at the foremost seat with the Duke Whittle family to his right and Count Green family to his left.
Everyone sat quietly and waited for the ceremony to begin.
When Britney first entered the wedding hall, she was irritated by the fact that Iris’ wedding hall was too fancy for her to ever match it.
But when she sat next to the Crown Prince, her thoughts about Iris disappeared completely and her mind became filled with the imagination of walking down the wedding aisle with the Crown Prince.
‘My wedding is going to be much more spectacular than this. I’m going to spend more money, and I’m going to ask a more famous designer for an expensive dress. I’m only going to invite more amazing guests. Iris, you and I aren’t the same.’
Britney raised her head slightly and smiled gracefully in case the Crown Prince looked back at her, but the Crown Prince was silently staring at the officiating table.
‘Who the hell is the officiant? I thought he would ask me.’
Although the Crown Prince was the same age as Keivrand, he was higher status, so if Iobet were to officiate, it would be seen as an honor for the Green family.
However, Keivrand had never brought up the conversation of officiating to him.
Iobet wasn’t the only one wondering who will be officiating.
Some other guests as well.
‘His Highness will officiate. He even asked Countess Green for a dance.’
They were thinking that.
The groom, Keivrand, stood under the arch at the starting point of the wedding aisle, and after that, was the parked carriage in which the bride, Iris, was in.
Jamie, dressed in a full suit and tie, stood next to the officiating platform and announced loudly that the ceremony had begun.
No one thought it was strange that Jamie, who works as the Green’s family steward, was the host.
Jamie Russell is a holy knight who even the Emperor coveted.
“Today is the day when Count Keivrand Green and Countess Iris Green become one.”
Usually, it was the officiant who began with such a saying, so people wondered.
But the wonder didn’t last long.
“Let me introduce the officiant who will bless this beautiful wedding.”
Jamie’s eyes headed to the building near the officiating platform. Everyone followed Jamie’s line of sight.
Then, someone opened the door from the inside. And from inside the door, a red cape glimmered.
‘Don’t tell me…’
People swallowed their breath.
‘No, it can’t be.’
They felt like the person they had in their minds was an absolutely ridiculous thought.
It was because that person didn’t even come to the Emperor’s wedding and bless him.
At this time, Jamie said the name of the person who appeared in their brief imagination.
“His Majesty the Holy Father, Andrise Gothelm.”
