- Chapter 9 - The Forgotten Princess Wants to Live in Peace Chapter 9
My sister will be fine.
It’s okay because she promised. She said she’d stay by my side.
Louie wept and ran along the road. He was already exhausted and walking slower. Behind the staggering Louie, a splendid carriage approached. The loud sound of horseshoes passed like a threat, and a lump of dust rose, and a cough erupted.
Particles of light fluttered and landed on Louie’s head, fluttering like a butterfly. Another grain of light, fluttering in comfort, rested upon his shoulder.
Besides the light particles that had just arrived, several lights had already been attached to Louie’s body. At first, he thought it was a firefly that glowed during the day. It wasn’t until he touched it with his fingers that he realized that it had no shape. Louie glanced at the few particles of light that had landed on his body and moved again.
It’s not the light that matters now. He had to get to the Starry Night inn faster.
Another carriage passed by, and the dust rose again. He turned to avoid the dust and pounded his thighs with his fists.
Yonezu was a town where rock salt was excavated, so there were many merchants passing by.
The grain of light that had been attached to the tree next to the road flew up again and approached Louie. The particles of light scattered all over the road would follow when they found Louie.
I’ll have to ask my sister later.
It was time to move the short legs without rest.
Again, the sound of horseshoes was heard. Seeing the three men running on horseback, Louie turned to one side of the road. Those he thought would pass by, stopped in front of Louie.
“Kid, are you alone?”
It was when he raised his head to the kind voice. The light that had been clinging to Louie’s body began to buzz. For a moment, Louie became afraid.
“yes”
“How far?”
“It’s Yonezu”
“Are you going on errands? If you have the money, I can let you ride on front of the horse.”
Around Louie’s neck was a satin pouch that Eluana had worn. There are still fifteen gold coins left inside. Although Louie had no sense of money, he knew that there were so many things gold could buy.
If I give you a gold coin, will you take me to Starry Night?
Louis was confused for a moment.
“Kid?” The man asked again, and the lights went on again. It’s too scary, Louie groaned and shook his head.
“I have no money. I am looking for my father.”
“None?”
“yes”
Hearing the muffled voice, the man immediately withdrew his interest and ran again. The men quickly moved away.
The lights that were buzzing and trying to convey something also stuck to Louie’s body again.
A wagon passed by Louie as he began to move. This time, Louie turned around and waited for the dust to subside. And when he turned around, he saw the wagon stop.
The man who was sitting in the driver’s seat poked his head out. This time the lights didn’t respond. The man looked at Louie. It was the first time he had seen his face, and he was wearing pretty good clothes. It was messy, but the fabric was of high quality.
“Where are you going? There is no village here.”
“Isn’t this the way to Yonezu?”
Louie’s eyes widened. His heart sank at the thought that he might have been on the wrong track.
“The road to Yonezu is correct, but are you going to walk there alone?”
“yes.”
“Do your parents know you are going to Yonezu?”
Louie read the concern on the man’s face. Realizing this could be in his favor, Louie began to cry.
“Oh. Daddy is hurt. I have to go to Starry Night.”
Lies came out of his cute mouth.
“A Starry Night?” As the man knew, Yonezu’s Starry Night was an inn.
“Who is there?”
“Mom works there.”
A sigh escaped the woman who was sitting next to him.
“Would it be okay if I rode the wagon?”
“We are also on our way to Yonezu”
“thank you. I must go fast. Dad. His body is cold, and he doesn’t even answer. “
When Louie started to cry again after spitting out a bunch of words, the man and the woman immediately got off the carriage. The man grabbed Louie and put him in the wagon. On the way to buy rock salt, the wagon was empty.
Louie, who let out a moan, clenched his fern-like fist and patted his leg, and the woman’s face distorted.
“Did you eat?”
“it’s okay. Thank you for bringing me.”
As his pink eyes gleamed, the woman began to rummage through her pockets as if possessed. She then found the bread she was going to eat for lunch.
“eat this.”
The man carried a canteen beside him.
“If you are thirsty, drink this. We will be there before evening.”
“thank you.”
The man got on the driver’s seat again, and the woman looked around a few times and only got on after finding a blanket somewhere and handing it to him. Louie wrapped the blanket and cut the bread into thirds. He shoved one piece into his mouth and tucked the other two pieces into his right and left trouser pockets, respectively. I have to give it to my sister and brother.
Louie leaned against the wagon, which started to rumble, and ate his share of bread. The bread eaten after twenty days was amazing. Louie, who ate the bread in an instant, pondered for a moment. He then took Khazar’s share of bread from his pocket and stared at it. Louie made a strange noise and took a piece of bread as big as his thumb and shoved it into his mouth. Then he put the bread back in his pocket. He drank a third of the water from the canteen and lay down in the rumbling wagon.
He could see twinkling lights floating beside the dazzling sky. Louie taps a light with his finger. The light that flew back and forth fluttered again and returned to Louie. Louie, who looked up at the clear sky thought of Eluana. The rattling wagon came to a standstill.
The man who got off the driver’s seat gently grabbed Louie and lowered him.
“That’s Starry Night. We are also going to stay there after we receive the goods, so if anything happens, please find us. “
“thank you.”
Louis bowed at his belly button and ran to the Starry Night. Louie opened the door and was stunned by the noise inside the inn. He didn’t know who to tell Khazar’s words to.
Not knowing what to do, he was shuffling his feet when a man with a thick beard approached him.
“Who are you visiting? “
“uh. Khazar said that we had to ask for help here.”
“Who are you?”
“It’s Khazar. He’s in the Middle East.”
“Middle East? “ (중동and 중독 sound similar in Korean)
“isn’t it the Middle East?” Louie’s ‘eyes fluttered.
“Ah, anyway he’s cold. He can’t even open his eyes.”
The man holding Louie, who was speaking gibberish, strode forward. As he nodded, the man sitting at the entrance of the inn got up quickly and led his horse out.
“Can you show the way?”
Louie nodded vigorously.
Thoughts flow slowly. Why did I close my eyes? Oh, I was completely lost.
Khazar lifted his heavy eyelids. It wasn’t perfect, but his eyesight had returned to the point where he could clearly see things.
“Here …”
The wooden roof and white walls caught his eye. Roughly made furniture, moderately clean curtains, and the words ‘Counting the Stars’ written on the wall indicated where this place was.
I knew there was an Edelweiss branch in a village near the border of the Kingdom of Velois, but it was the first time I had come.
Mana is also sparse here. It’s not as bad as Aden, but the mana concentration is still insufficient. Still, waking up here, it seemed that Louis had succeeded.
Khazar lifted his head to check the weight he felt on his chest. He had fluttering pink hair. Even the grain of light sitting on it. Khazar patted Louie on the head. Louie then raised his head and rubbed his eyes. His pink eyes twinkled and shone as their eyes met.
“Brother? are you okay?”
“Thanks to Louie”
“I’ll go call the mister.”
Louie ran out of the room with a loud noise and shouted,
“Brother is up.”
Soon, a man with a thick beard appeared.
“My name is Monaf in charge of the Velois branch. Are you okay? I used antidote, but you haven’t fully recovered.”
“I know what poison it is. A general antidote won’t work. Contact the line. Please wait in the capital.”
“Yes.”
“Give me one of the most luxurious carriages and six escorts. Also, clothes suitable to be worn in public places. We will leave as soon as we are ready.”
Khazar, who was just before crossing the River of Death, expressed his intention to leave immediately, but Monaf did not hold back. Although worried, he was not someone who could advise Khazar.
He put Khazar’s belongings down on the bed
“It was what you had. I’ll go get ready. If you need anything, just pull he string.”
As Monaf left the room, Khazar stood up. And he saw what Monaf had left behind.
Five gold coins?
He knew that Louie had something in his pants pocket. But it was gold. He was staring blankly at the gold coins when Louie came in carefully holding a bowl of stew.
“Brother! eat this!”
Khazar quietly raised the spoon. He could feel his body warming up as he took a sip of the stew. As he thought, it looked like he had suffered for a long time.
He felt Louie’s gaze. Louie was staring intently at the gold coin placed on the side table. Warmth was added to Khazar’s gaze. He didn’t know how many more gold coins were in the satin pocket. However, it must have been a lot of money for Eluana and Louie, who were running away from everything.
“Did Louie put it in my pants? “
Louie nodded.
“Let’s put it back in the satin pocket.”
Soon, Louie’s expression brightened. Louie put the gold coin back into the satin pocket and opened the door… Khazar said the words that Louie wanted to hear the most.
“Let’s go get Eluana. We will be leaving in three hours.”
Again, Louie’s eyes lit up.
“Really? But Hyung is still sick. Can we go?”
It was good to go to rescue Eluana, but Louie also listened to what the adults were saying. The fact that Khazar almost died, and that he wasn’t completely cured.
“Don’t worry. I have to go back to the Empire to receive proper treatment anyway.”
“How do you get it? Will I have to go in and out of the dog hole?”
“You don’t have to. We will go through the front door.”
Khazar raised an eyebrow and smiled.
