The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 49
Chapter 49: All Buildings To Be Built At Full Speed!
Sean considered himself an honest and trustworthy person who kept his promises, hence he was determined to complete the quest, whether he was willing to or not.
Firstly, he needed to free Vanessa VanCleef.
Sean jumped down from the domesticated boar, then approached Vanessa before reaching his hand out to remove the white cloth in her mouth. Next, he went behind her to untie her hands.
Once Vanessa stood up, Sean walked to her front, then smiled at the pitiful little girl. “Vanessa, did you listen to the conversation between Rick and me?”
Vanessa was clearly calmer and more mature than her peers. She looked up at Sean, and replied with a tender voice, “Vanessa saw everything, and Vanessa is willing to follow you, Big Brother Sean. You’re going to protect me, right?”
Her unexpected composure and maturity caused Sean to think of her more highly than before. He nodded. “Follow me. Before your father brings you home, just follow me. You’ve come a long way with Rick, are you hungry?”
Vanessa nodded.
Sean grinned, then reached his hand out to her. “Come, I’ll bring you to eat.”
After Vanessa gave Sean her hand, they walked toward Saldean’s Farm together.
When the domesticated boar looked up at Sean and Vanessa, she thought to herself, ‘Why does Master like a thin girl like her? Based on my aesthetic point of view, I’d only be interested if she’s fleshy and weighs at least 100 kilograms, but Master’s standards have always been like this, so maybe it’s better this way.’
The domesticated boar twiddled some fresh grass one last time before catching up to Sean and Vanessa.
After returning to the Saldean’s Farm, the Saldeans grew very fond of Vanessa. The little girl was actually very smart. She was not full of hatred as she would be in the future, and was very sweet when she greeted the elders.
Seeing as they got along with each other well, Sean was relieved.
A week passed in the blink of an eye, and there was a huge change in the Spatial Garrison.
With the soldiers’ help these days, there was ample Wood and Stones. Sean turned the substantial amount of materials into Garrison Resources, and began building different Facilities at full speed.
A Fishing Shack, a Herb Garden, a Lunarfall Excavation, and a Menagerie.
The Four Facilities were set to be built at the same time, and were done together too.
Beside a lake whose depths was unknown sat a simple Fishing Shack, and the lake itself contained various species of fish. They could not be caught by hand or by using fishing nets. The only way to catch them was with a hook and line.
That said, nobody else was in the Spatial Garrison other than Sean.
This showed the importance of the Follower Interface.
Each Fishing Shack could have 25 Followers assigned to it. Based on the Follower’s Fishing Level, the Fishing Shack would automatically produce different types of fish every day. The higher one’s Fishing Level, the more precious and plentiful the fish produced.
Needless to say, it was possible that random items were fished up too. For instance, scraps, materials, Garrison Resources, and pieces of Equipment.
A variety of herbs were planted in a land that was surrounded by fences. There were Silverleaves, Peaceblooms, Earthroots…
Followers could enter the Herb Garden too, and according to one’s Herbalism Level, assorted herbs were automatically gathered on a daily basis in different amounts.
Mixed ores were found in a small Mine. Gold ores, silver ores, iron ores, copper ores…
Once a Follower checked in, miscellaneous ores were automatically collected based on the Follower’s Mining Level.
Finally, it was the Menagerie.
The Menagerie was the only Facility out of the four fixed ones that could be used without needing a Follower. When pets were captured to put in the Menagerie, they would be tamed, and would undergo highly efficient training to help them grow as fast as possible. In the end, they could either help Sean in fights, or could be used for other matters.
Pets had a total of 25 Levels. Other than Levels, they were also categorized into Qualities, which were White Common Quality, Green Uncommon Quality, Blue Rare Quality, Purple Epic Quality, and Orange Legendary Quality.
A pet’s Quality would be the same as when it was caught until it advanced to Level 25. At Level 25, the pet’s Quality could be improved through different paths. Theoretically, a Level 1 White Quality pet could possibly advance to become a Level 25 Orange Legendary Quality.
The current Menagerie was only at Level 1, hence it could only house 5 pets.
Sean felt that it was time for a pet-catching spree.
Apart from the four fixed Facilities, Sean went to the Gate of Spacetime twice during the past few days to clear two new Dungeons. One was Spider Nest, the other one was Dirty Sewer.
The Spider Nest Dungeon was tougher, with a difficulty that was roughly between Kobold’s Nest and Murloc Shallow. Most of the monsters were spiders with a Combat Level of 3 and below, but there was a Broodmother at Combat Level 6 that made Sean suffer for a long time.
Additionally, at least half of the spiders in the nest were poisonous…
Fortunately, Sean had great stamina, so he managed to withstand the process. After killing the Broodmother, he obtained a consumable pearl that was known to be an antidote. Sean’s Poison Resistance increased by 3 points after he took it.
The final rating was B, and Sean received 4 Stat Points, all of which he added to his Stamina. He later acquired a Green Quality Pet, the Crystal Spider, from the Wheel of Fortune, which was quite a surprise.
In comparison, the Dirty Sewer Dungeon was easier, only slightly more difficult than Kobold’s Nest. The monsters in the Dungeon were all Giant Sewer Rats with a highest Combat Level of 3, and each of them was thrice the size of a normal rat. Although they looked fearsome, there were not many of them. Nonetheless, it was quite time consuming, and the sewer was a rather disgusting place to be in…
In the end, Sean was not rewarded with Stat Points even when the clearance rating was A, which made him realize that not all Dungeons gave them as a reward. He would only receive Stat Points from Dungeons that had a difficulty that was on par with his strength, thus he would not obtain any if a Dungeon’s difficulty was much lower than his strength.
Furthermore, the rewards contained in the six slots from the Wheel of Fortune were not of a high grade as they were of the same grade as the ones from Kobold’s Nest.
This time, Sean’s luck was only average. He drew a hundred Garrison Resources, but they were better than nothing.
After researching Harvest Wardens, the Golem Factory studied Reinforced Multifunctional Shredders and Reinforced Multifunctional Quarry Machines. Sean immediately produced a few Shredders and Quarry Machines to speed up the felling and quarrying processes. This would enhance the Mage Tower’s construction speed.
On this day, Sean was grazing his boar near his Mage Tower, and was letting his first pet, the Crystal Spider, hunt at the same time. All of a sudden, a familiar person appeared again.
