The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: I Am An Apprentice Of Medivh, the Last Guardian
The legendary Assassin, Garona Halforcen, once assassinated the former king of Stormwind City, Llane Wrynn, and one of the greatest Mages in the world, Medivh, the Last Guardian. She was Azeroth’s most notable Assassin and there was no one that could rival her.
Even Mathias Shaw’s teacher, Wolfson Fullmore, let alone Mathias, paled in comparison to Garona.
The fact that Sean compared her to Mathias was obviously to take a shot at him.
Nevertheless…
Mathias had an experienced sharp tongue. He merely glanced at Sean before answering in a calm manner. “Garona is, of course, brilliant as an Assassin but I’m not just an Assassin, I am also the leader of SI:7. How can you compare an apple to an orange? As for the information you brought up, I’m guessing Rick told you?”
With that, Mathias threw a glance at Rick.
Rick looked towards Sean in surprise.
Rick knew well that he never said much about Mathias to Sean. In fact, he was unaware of most of the information himself. How did Sean find out?
It once again raised Rick’s opinion of Sean.
Sean curled his lips.
Apart from Mathias’ teacher being Wolfson Fullmore, Sean had long known about him. There was nothing strange about it. Any Warcraft player was well-versed in his history. Mathias was in over his head.
However, there was no need to explain himself. Sean would let the misunderstanding continue. Rick did not jump out to explain, so why should he?
His purpose here was not to one-up Mathias. He was here on business.
Sean shot a glance at Rick, prompting Rick to return to his senses. The latter said to Mathias, “Mathias, it’s about this. We received news that King Varian…”
Rick revealed everything about the situation involving King Varian, Stormwind City, and Lady Onyxia to Mathias.
In the beginning, Mathias maintained his cool, as though he would not lose composure even if he was faced with an avalanche. He did not budge when hearing about the death of King Varian. It seemed he would still remain calm when in front of a bare woman.
However, the moment Rick spoke of King Varian being split into half and Lady Onyxia taking control of Stormwind City, Mathias’ face finally showed color.
‘Why bother to act cool? You think you’re Lord Guan, Liu Bei, or Zhuge Liang[1] with guts, maturity, and godlike predictive ability? There is so much in the world that you don’t know about!’
Sean took delight in Mathias’ downcast expression. Upon realizing this, Sean immediately called for the merciful Buddha to silence his childish thoughts but continued to chuckle to himself.
Rick finally finished what he had to say and concluded, “Sean told me all this.”
The guy had completely removed himself out of the picture. Sean had told him everything. He was merely a sound recorder so it was no fault of his if there was a mistake.
Alright, maybe Sean should not be thinking that everyone was an unscrupulous merchant. The lovely Vanessa and Anduin were definitely not unscrupulous merchants. He would bet a dime on it.
Mathias turned his gaze towards Sean for a whole minute before asking. “Boar Rider Mage Sean, what Rick has told me. Is it true?”
Boar Rider Mage?
Boar Rider Mage!
Boar Rider Mage…
Mathias was dead serious.
Rick was red in the face from holding back.
Sean had the urge to kill Mathias.
F*ck, what kind of title was that?
Boar Rider Mage? What the hell?
It was impressive and domineering to hear others with Dragonkiller or Dragon Rider titles. Why gad he received such an idiotic title?
Boar Rider Mage… Even riding an ox was better than a boar!
Suddenly, Mathias added. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t say the full title. That’s disrespectful to you. I should address you as Domesticated Boar Rider Sean. This is accurate, right?”
Domesticated Boar Rider Sean…
Sean turned glum.
Mathias must have done it on purpose. He must have.
Just because Sean had disclosed detailed information about Mathias, exposed his lack of intel, made his work seem like window dressing, and revealed the fact that he was a dog in a manger, Mathias held a grudge against him. Hence, the personal attacks. How shameless!
Since Mathias had no sense of shame, Sean was not going to hold back on him!
Humph, revenge was a dish best served cold. Sean was going to have King Varian stir some trouble for him once he managed to get on King Varian’s good side.
Sean happily made up his mind.
Knowing it was not the time to deal with Mathias, Sean decided to let Mathias off the hook for now. Although, on the surface, it seemed like Mathias had won, the truth was, he was not the least bit bothered by it.
Why bother anyway?
Whether it was Boar Rider Mage or Dragonkiller Hero, at the end of the day, they were only names. Sean was in pursuit of truth, knowledge, and a peaceful and indulgent life.
In short, the good-natured Sean let out a dazzling smile at Mathias and replied, “Yes, Sir Mathias, everything Rick said is true.”
Mathias nodded. “Here’s the problem. How did an underage Half-Elf manage to discover these secrets? Even SI:7 only ever suspected these events and have no concrete evidence. That’s right, Lady Katrana Prestor’s conduct for the past few years has caused us to wonder but how do you know that she’s Lady Onyxia?”
Sean scratched his head.
This was indeed a troublesome question. Nonetheless, Sean was here and had figured out a countermeasure.
Yes, there were many things that were inexplicable, such as why he knew many of the issues, and why was he unknown for ten-odd years and suddenly emerged as a Mage. Others were unaware of the Spatial Garrison’s existence, thus surely many assumptions had been made.
Sean only needed to validate the most convincing assumption.
With that, Sean straightened his back and waved his fingers. A Mage Saint’s Staff appeared in his hands.
While Mathias was taken aback, Sean proudly responded, “A month ago, I encountered a mysterious person in the form of a raven. He told me everything and took me as his apprentice, granting me knowledge of Arcane.
“He had me come here and seek you out. He taught me how to save King Varian and Stormwind City.
“He told me everything. I trust that you’ll believe every word I say and won’t cast any doubt on me. After all, the mysterious person in the form of a raven, my teacher, has a rather outstanding name.
“He is Medivh.
“Medivh, the Last Guardian.”
