The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 55
Chapter 55: Can I Eat Before We Talk?
Sean did not carry any burden on his consciousness for fabricating a teacher. He had even claimed a couple of days before that Theocritus was his teacher. Saying that Medivh was his teacher now was on a whole new level.
Who was Medivh?
He was the Last Guardian of Tirifal and the only child of Aegwynn, the strongest Guardian in history, and Nielas Aran, the strongest Court Mage in history. He inherited most of Aegwynn’s magical powers and trained for years with Nielas. He killed his father at the age of 14 and his mother at the age of 43, having been possessed by the spirit of the Dark Titan, Sargeras, before his birth. He opened the Dark Portal at the age of 44 and was killed at the age of 47.
The legendary life of this legendary Mage would leave one gasping in amazement!
Sean took cover under Medivh’s name and man, it was quite a huge name he used to cover his tracks.
Most importantly, he had claimed that Medivh was his teacher. Regular civilians may not know who Medivh was but Mathias was not only aware of who Medivh was, he knew the story like the palm of his hand. This led to an issue — Mathias was starting to become convinced of Sean’s identity.
Why was that?
Because Medivh, the Last Guardian, was the biggest prophet in the history of Azeroth!
A bunch of people grew suspicious when Medivh dabbled with Shadow Magic experiments in Karazhan. Medivh had even contacted Warlock Gul’dan from Draenor, another planet, and together, they opened the Dark Portal.
Then came the legendary Assassin, Garona, the young Khadgar, and the future Regent Lord of Stormwind City, Anduin Lothar.
The trio teamed up and killed Medivh while he was at his weakest, torn between good and evil. Medivh’s powerful soul still remained and had wandered the Astral Plane for years. He was then resurrected by his mother, Aegwynn using the last of her Mana.
After breaking away from the dark side, Medivh realized that his past actions had brought great disaster to the land and its inhabitants. He put upon himself a heavy responsibility to atone for his sins and to save the world. Medivh transformed into a Blood Raven, using either a Druid skill or a Mage’s Polymorph spell. Draped in a black cloak, a hood over his head, and with Atiesh in his hand, Medivh embarked on a journey to become the strongest prophet in history.
He went to notify Thrall, leader of the Orcs and later, King Terenas of Lordaeron about the prophecy of the Burning Legion’s second invasion. While the Orcish Horde set out for Kalimdor, King Terenas of Lordaeron brushed Medivh’s warning off as nothing important.
A sudden plague swiftly swept across a northern city in Lordaeron. Prince Arthas of Lordaeron massacred the beleaguered city in order to stop the spread of the plague. Stratholme was in chaos, bones piled up everywhere.
Medivh, the Prophet, made another appearance but this time, Prince Arthas refused to listen. The youthful prince was blinded with vengeful rage. It was not long before King Terenas was killed by his son and soon, Lordaeron collapsed. The terrible plague continued to spread.
Meanwhile, a small handful of Humans followed the female Mage, Jaina Proudmoore, setting sail for Kalimdor under the guidance of Medivh. They became survivors of the fallen Lordaeron and formed an alliance with the Horde that had also arrived in Kalimdor, In the end, they joined forces with the Night Elves to defeat the Burning Legion’s invasion.
They fought with all their might before Archimonde could make it to the Tree of Eternity. In the final hour, Malfurion blew on the Horn of Cenarius, calling on thousands of Wisps to detonate on Archimonde, wounding him. They then borrowed the power of the World Tree to blast Archimonde to death. After the battle, Nordrassil was no longer eternal, nor did the Night Elves have immortality. Nordrassil became a regular huge tree. It was a huge price to pay to shatter the demons’ dark plans.
With that, Medivh, the Prophet, completed his mission and handed over the duty of defending the world to the people of Azeroth. As the great battle drew to an end, a low middle-age male voice, wise and prescient, echoed and lingered in the hearts of every man in Azeroth.
Alright, actually, due to the geography, population details, historical fog, those who were in the know about Medivh’s legendary deeds were actually few in number.
As the leader of SI:7, Mathias was one of the few.
Mathias had vanished and nobody knew where he went.
Medivh was once great friends with Stormwind City’s former king, Llane Wrynn, and Regent Lord Anduin Lothar. Surely, he was concerned about Stormwind City. With the King Varian Wrynn in danger and Stormwind City at the risk of being overthrown, it was high time that Medivh, as the strongest prophet, took a stand.
After all, why wouldn’t he?
As for why he knew that King Varian and Stormwind City were in trouble?… He was Medivh, the Last Guardian, the strongest prophet! Why wouldn’t he know?
Now, someone has stood up, claiming to be an apprentice of Medivh. He, with a questionable origin, became a Mage out of the blue, moved through ranks at an alarming rate, and somehow knew about a lot of secrets.
Could he be trusted?
Mathias was not one to trust anyone easily. However, from the intel he had gathered, and the suspicions that had developed after analyzing said intel, Mathias was 80% certain that the Boar Rider Mage’s words rang true.
Then, whether or not the Boar Rider Mage was Medivh’s apprentice was not currently a priority.
Mathias struggled internally for dozens of seconds before choosing to believe Sean for the moment.
Letting out a few coughs to clear his throat, Mathias extended his right hand in an attempt to give Sean a good pat on the shoulder in commendation but Sean instinctively dodged him. Mathias then reached back and grabbed his chin instead. He said,
“Sean Saldean, your courage, wisdom, intelligence, and sense of responsibility over Stormwind City’s safety is commendable. Believe me, once the dust has settled, I will have King Varian greatly reward you. Now, tell me, what prophecy does the great Prophet Medivh have for us? What should we do?”
Sean emotionally sighed at Mathias’ thick skin. He rubbed his tummy and shyly replied, “About that, I’m hungry… Can I eat something before we talk?”
No man could live without food.
Mages with Conjure Refreshment-sort of spells were all bullsh*t.
Mages were proficient in Conjure Water because they could summon Water Elementals to materialize into water. Hence, they would not die of thirst no matter where they went.
However, Mages were incapable of summoning a good meal at the wave of their sleeves! Unless there were delicacies readily available, Mages could then use Summon from the Conjuration school to summon over those delicious delicacies… Now that was logical!
While Mathias remained speechless, Sean, Rick, and Vanessa leisurely ate their fill.
