Chapter 526: Met with mysterious dog friend at 210, gift_3
Bai Lian opened the door of the mini-fridge, took a glance, grabbed a bottle of Sprite, and handed it to Wen Zhixia with one hand, “Why did you come so late?”
Wen Zhixia accepted the Sprite from the other person.
It was the drink Wen Zhixia liked.
Wen Zhixia leaned against the table, feeling quite strange, she felt that the person in front of her was not the silly dog she knew, but also felt inexplicably familiar.
“I was afraid you would suddenly return to Xiangcheng tomorrow.” Wen Zhixia lowered her eyes and took a sip of Sprite.
The living room’s lighting wasn’t dim; the white light illuminated Bai Lian’s face while the air conditioning blew her hair. She sat down on the sofa, too lazy to move, and kicked the trash can to the side, “That’s unlikely.”
The casual atmosphere made Wen Zhixia relax as well, she fiddled with the Sprite can, “You’ve changed a lot.”
Bai Lian’s fingertips touched the piano strings, she slightly lifted her head, and said unhurriedly, “One tends to change after dying once.”
“So, did you really jump into the lake for Song Min?” Wen Zhixia crumpled the Sprite can with a frown, her gaze turning hostile as she looked at Bai Lian.
This was a fact.
Bai Lian had no counterargument.
Wen Zhixia seemed to want to scold her for a few more sentences when Bai Lian suddenly stood up, just as Wen Zhixia was about to ask Bai Lian what she was up to.
The doorbell rang at the same moment Bai Lian opened the door.
Outside stood Old Hu, who had come to deliver tickets to Bai Lian, “Miss Bai, the time is the day after tomorrow.”
“Thank you,” Bai Lian took them.
Inside the house, Wen Zhixia felt that strange sensation again, as if Bai Lian knew there was someone outside, “Who is it?”
“Uncle Hu.” Bai Lian casually placed the tickets on the bar next to the door, spoke offhandedly, and then returned to her room.
Wen Zhixia had just asked casually.
She followed Bai Lian into her room, continuing the topic, “Song Min is just a bit better in grades and looks just okay, not as handsome as Mei Yi…”
She took Bai Lian’s jumping into the lake to heart.
She saw Bai Lian opening her suitcase.
There weren’t many things in her suitcase, half were clothes, the other half were books, mostly thick and esoteric English ones, the titles of which Wen Zhixia didn’t understand. There were also a few printed documents she couldn’t make heads or tails of.
On the top, there were several drafts filled with things that looked like text but weren’t quite text, something about “fourth level up.”
Wen Zhixia looked at the stack of books.
She furrowed her brows, thinking the silly dog was truly distressed by Bai Shaoqi and Song Min; why else would she carry so many books in her suitcase?
Just as she was about to scold Bai Lian, she saw Bai Lian pull out a white bag from amongst her clothes.
The bag even bore the red “Darunduo Supermarket” script on the front.
Most students in the international class came from well-off families, especially Bai Shaoqi and Song Min, who frequented import supermarkets and rarely went to Darunduo. Bai Lian had never been there before either.
Seeing the plastic bag, Wen Zhixia immediately conjured up an image of what life must have been like for her in Xiangcheng.
“You…”
Before she could say anything, Bai Lian handed her the bag.
“What?” Wen Zhixia looked down.
Bai Lian: “A gift.”
Wen Zhixia: “…”
She took the bag, but this time, didn’t continue with what she was saying.
Logically, after being apart for so long, Wen Zhixia should have taken Bai Lian out for a spin on the road, but with the college entrance exams just over, she figured Bai Lian was still saddened by the whole ordeal, so she didn’t mention it.
She didn’t dare ask which university Bai Lian got into either.
**
After seeing off Wen Zhixia, Bai Lian returned to the sofa and poured herself a cup of tea.
This dog friend turned out differently than she had imagined and wondered how she had become friends with the original owner.
But…
After finishing her tea, Bai Lian sighed in relief.
The matter with the dog friend seemed to have been dealt with for now.
Downstairs.
Wen Zhixia’s car was waiting for her.
A low-key black business car, at the very back, an elderly face hidden in the shadows, he looked at Wen Zhixia sitting in front, “Have you finished seeing your classmates and friends, Miss? The old lady is asking when you will return.”
“In a day or two,” Wen Zhixia, with her legs crossed, placed the plastic bag on the fold-down table in front of her.
The old man glanced over, the plastic bag seeming out of place: “What’s this?”
