Chapter 1285: Grinding Down Master Huang

“Just you wait Lu Li! I’ll be back!” Silly Husky cried out.
Master Huang was getting anxious as he couldn’t help but feel the pressure building. His intention was always to take control at a critical moment, but it was getting dangerous. Lu Li’s crowd-control was endless and overwhelming, even for a warrior.
He quickly cast a Charge at Lu Li who was right in front of him.
As long as they were next to each other, this move would hit and stun him. Master Huang intended to use Whirlwind immediately on Lu Li. His Whirlwind was special, as his version also had a slow and it was his ultimate attack.
Under normal circumstances, anyone who gets hit by a Warrior’s Whirlwind would immediately want to run away. Otherwise, they would lose a significant amount of HP and might even die.
However, in Lu Li’s current situation, there was no way to run. He and Master Huang were exchanging skills and effects. Both of them were very strong, and if Lu Li took the whole special Whirlwind, he would be one step away from dying.
At this time, he did something that stunned the men into silence and caused the women to cry. He directed Silly Husky to stand in front of Master Huang.
Master Huang had no choice but to stop and use his axe to attack Silly Husky.
With a final strike, he chopped Silly Husky to death, but Master Huang lost his opportunity to stun Lu Li and cast Whirlwind. Lu Li then retreated to a safe position, and once again annoyingly hid himself.
At this point, Lu Li’s HP was almost full while Master Huang was on half HP.
Lu Li didn’t have a second Silly Husky to attack with. In fact, Master Huang wouldn’t be fooled again, but as a Thief, he still had many other tricks.
Master Huang wasn’t impatient, and he still took the same approach as before. He calmly responded whenever Lu Li engaged and started to deal some damage to him. After Silly Husky was killed, there was nothing left to excite the general audience.
However, the real masters watched this scene unfold in anticipation.
When two melee players had no powerful means of fighting each other, what would they do?
Keep repositioning!
Lu Li didn’t have many skills left, but he could move faster than Master Huang, so he made full use of this advantage. The Thief was like the wind in the arena as he blew around Master Huang, damaging him bit by bit.
Master Huang had a completely different style.
He barely moved and looked like a martial arts master as he used the least amount of movement to deal with his opponent’s most dangerous tricks.
On the surface, it seemed like Master Huang had the more masterful style. Lu Li looked like a wolf pacing around a hedgehog. He was occasionally taking bites out of Master Huang, but would inevitably take some damage too.
“Master Huang has to stay calm, otherwise, he won’t be able to keep up this fight,” Four Seas Dragon said as he shook his head, then added, “But this is still not going to work.”
“After that big fight, Lu Li is having a much easier time finding opportunities. Many Thief skills have a lower cooldown and some just require a combo point. This is Master Huang’s best bet, but it is still a very difficult fight for him,” Dark Wind praised.
Lu Li was also having a bit of a headache. No matter how he fought, he was unlikely to resolve this match quickly.
This battle was a complete grind-fest. When he finally defeated Master Huang, he was also on critical HP. Blood Dagger than immediately took him down in one round. Lu Li didn’t even get to chance to lift the crowd-control. At that point, there was no chance for Lu Li to take any of Blood Dagger’s HP.
However, there was no one that thought Lu Li couldn’t do it.
Fat Monkey was defeated by Sorrowless with half HP. Then, Moonlight dealt with Sorrowless and left Demigod Asura on a little bit of HP.
When Lu Li got on stage, Ruling Sword was a little behind. However, he first defeated Demigod Asura with plenty of HP remaining before defeating Master Huang.
He had defeated about one and a half players, including Master Huang from Glory Capital’s youth training camp.
At present, no one in the professional circles could say with 100% confidence that they could defeat Master Huang. Even very strong warriors like Gaze would show the proper respect to Master Huang whenever they met. Gaze found that he wasn’t able to learn all the skills Master Huang was teaching and regretted that he left the training camp too early.
After Lu Li defeated Master Huang, it reinforced his position in the professional circle.
In his last fight before retirement, Master Huang unfortunately ended up losing to Lu Li. It was time for the new generation to step in. There was no need for commentary here as everyone’s perspective of Lu Li had changed.
Blood Dagger defeated Lu Li, but there was no smug look on his face. In fact, he looked quite gloomy, as if someone owed him money.
Master Huang was an instructor from the Glory Capital Youth Training Camp. All the players from the camp had been taught by him. If the teacher had been defeated, how could the students stand a chance? In Blood Dagger’s mind, Master Huang was simply unbeatable.
Mu Qiu then went on stage to fight Blood Dagger.
The current Paladins were quite strong. Although Mu Qiu had a weak attacking strength, he was very suitable for drawn out fights. It was much better than sending a Warlock like Kitty Likes Meat or a Melee Shaman like Sakura Memories.
Ruling Sword’s reserve seemed like it was still too weak. They didn’t even have a second Warrior, or a damage dealing Paladin, or even an Ice Mage.
Mu Qiu was a second-rate player and was definitely much worse than the first-class Blood Dagger. Even though he had double Blood Dagger’s HP and mana, he couldn’t keep up. He was then defeated before Kitty Likes Meat was sent in.
Kitty Likes Meat defeated Blood Dagger before losing to Shadowfang, who was Glory Capital’s final player.
At this point, the Competition was over. Glory Capital had sent out Sorrowless, Demigod Asura, Master Huang, Blood Dagger and Shadowfang. Ruling Sword had sent out Fat Monkey, Moonlight, Lu Li, Mu Qiu, and Kitty Likes Meat. All five of them had fought and only Shadowfang was left in the arena.
The final score of the matches was 5:4. Glory Capital was leading by a single point.
Regardless of the outcome, the first round of the championship was a very high-quality and exciting round. Fat Monkey’s challenge to Sorrowless had failed, but despite the defeat, Lu Li had defeated Master Huang who was respected by much of the audience.
There was a short intermission before the selection of maps began.
There were nine maps for the championship. Other than the large, round arena that was always present, the other eight were drawn by the two teams.
Each of the eight maps had their characteristics, but no one could say which map Glory Capital would choose.
However, as someone who had experienced rebirth, Lu Li immediately rejoiced when he saw the eight maps. He was 80% certain he knew which map Glory Capital would choose.
