The Great Trump Card - Chapter 123
Chapter 123 Flirting in the Washroom
Lin Huai thoroughly enjoyed himself that night; he enjoyed the food and drank lots of alcohol. The room he had originally reserved could not fit so many people so Lin Huai booked the entire ballroom so that all eighty of them could fit inside.
Pu Chengji said, “Brother Huai, Wu Jun and the rest wanted to come along. However, you said that Dao Zi was the only freshman that could come with you and that the rest had to stay put in college, thus they had no choice but to stay behind. I also told them that Yulan College was our base camp and we cannot lose control over it.”
By then Lin Huai was already a little tipsy, he nodded and said, “Okay. Help me to thank…thank them for the offer. They are all my good brothers, my close brothers!”
Pu Chengji smiled and said, “Brother Huai, why don’t you let me stay by your side as well?”
“You?” Lin Huai shook his head and said, “You are still a freshman, how could I possibly allow you to come along with me?”
Pu Chengji said, “I feel that the path of academic learning doesn’t suit me.”
“No way!” Lin Huai sternly said, “The people present here tonight are only students in their final year, I didn’t even allow the third year students to come. That’s because there was not much hope for these final year students even if they started working hard now. However, it’s a different case for you guys. You guys are still young so if you work hard now, you all could still catch up with the syllabus. Therefore, there is no way I am going to allow you to stay by my side as that would be ruining your bright future ahead.”
Pu Chengji said, “I understand that you are no longer lacking Red Canes, but without me by your side, you would be faced with the problem of not having a White Paper Fan.”
Pu Chengji was right. Despite Lin Huai being confident that he could see through everyone’s schemes, he knew that even the wisest man would slip up and that would be when a White Paper Fan’s importance is highlighted. Usually when a big boss slips up or makes a mistake, the White Paper Fan would be the one to identify the mistake before it implodes. These occur not because big bosses were not intelligent but rather a bystander would have a clearer view of the situation.
Lin Huai knew that Pu Chengji was right but he still shook his head and said, “Brother, focus on your studies. Tell you what, even though academic certificates are not the only way to succeed in life, in such day and age, the underworld would eventually vanish from this earth. Instead, being knowledgeable would be the trait that would help you for the rest of your life. You are intelligent and I know that you would be able to find a good job if you focus on your studies now. That way, your family’s effort to send you to school for so many years would not go down the drain.”
Pu Chengji hesitated and said, “Alright then.”
Lin Huai patted him on the shoulder and smiled. “Have a couple more drinks together with me tonight, that’s enough for me. You don’t have to come along with me but instead you should stay behind to take good care of Yulan College for me. Yulan College requires your presence so that it doesn’t return back to the way it used to be.”
Pu Chengji nodded his head and earnestly said, “Brother Huai, I will accomplish whatever you need me to do!”
Lin Huai stood up, raised his cup up and shouted, “My brothers, raise your cups and cheers!”
All eighty of them stood up and shouted, “Cheers!”
Everyone enjoyed the drinking session and that included Lin Huai. They drank all the way from noon till 4pm in the evening. After that, Lin Huai got into a cab and everyone else went on their own ways.
When Lin Huai got home, Li Liner was not back yet. Lin Huai planned to rest for a short while on the couch before making dinner for Li Liner. However, he fell asleep without realizing it.
Lin Huai had no idea how long he was asleep until the fragrant aroma of food woke him up and only then did he groggily open his eyes. By then, he was famished as he had not had much food the entire day other than the hearty lunch. His stomach was growling and when he glanced at the clock he was surprised that it was already 7pm at night. Furthermore, he was shocked that he was covered in a blanket as he vividly recalled lying down on the couch lazily.
Just then, Li Liner walked out from the kitchen. She glanced at Lin Huai, who was lying on the couch with his eyes wide open and she asked concerningly, “Oh you are awake? Does your head hurt?”
Lin Huai smiled and replied, “No it doesn’t, the amount of alcohol I consumed was nothing to me. Ah, I am supposed to make dinner for you but instead I end up troubling you to make dinner even after a long day at work.”
Li Liner smiled and said, “You don’t have to thank me. Don’t you remember that we had a deal whereby our responsibilities will depend on the situation? I saw that you were in deep sleep and you smelt like alcohol. You had a little too much to drink. Anyway, come over and eat, I have whipped up three dishes and one soup today.”
Lin Huai smiled and said, “Alright sure, let me try out your cooking skills.”
Just as Lin Huai was about to walk into the kitchen, Li Liner pushed him towards the washroom instead. She said, “Go and wash your hands first before having dinner.”
“Haha, fine, fine, I shall obey your orders.”
Lin Huai walked into the washroom and washed his face before walking into the kitchen. He was still suffering from a minor headache and all of a sudden he saw a bowl of piping hot soup on top of the dining table. Lin Huai asked, “Oh, am I supposed to have this soup first?”
“Yes, I prepared it for you. It’s a soup to sober you up in hopes that you would feel better after that. Li Liner smiled and said, “Stop being stubborn and drink up. Just take a look at how badly you stink of alcohol. Take off your clothes later and I will wash it for you.”
“Okay.” Lin Huai lifted the bowl of soup and gulped it down. He instantly felt a soothing feeling running through his stomach and he was not as light headed as before.
“Why did you have so much to drink today?
Lin Huai said, “That’s because I am in a good mood. There were about eighty final year students that are willing to be my followers. They were going for their internships soon anyway so there was no point for me to stop them. This group of people would be the foundation of my power in the future.”
Li Liner helped Lin Huai fill his bowl with rice and she did the same for her own bowl. She then sat down on the opposite side of Lin Huai and asked, “Are you really planning to hang around in the underworld?
Lin Huai smiled and asked, “You don’t like the underworld right?”
Li Liner nodded, “Yes, I don’t like it, moreover…”
“I am sorry for bringing up your sad memories, I shouldn’t be talking to you about such topics.
Li Liner sighed and said, “It’s okay, it’s all in the past.”
Lin Huai said, “But I am not planning to stay in the underworld.”
“But you…”
Lin Huai smiled, “Have you forgotten that I will seek revenge for you?”
Li Liner was a little doubtful and said, “So you are mingling in the underworld in order to seek revenge for me?”
“Not exactly as that’s just part of the reason.” Lin Huai hesitated before saying, “I guess there’s no point keeping you in the dark anymore.”
Thus, Lin Huai narrated his entire story. How he was there on a bodyguard mission, how he discovered the situation of Yulan College and turned it around and how Thunder God, Tang Shi threatened him. That left him with no choice but to temporarily join Thunder Gang. However, on the bright side he also seized this opportunity to be an undercover agent for the police.
By the time Lin Huai narrated the entire affair from beginning till end, half an hour had passed and they were done with dinner. Lin Huai complimented, “The dishes you prepared were really delicious but I have no idea if that is a good or a bad thing. That’s because I can predict myself putting on weight if I continue having food that you cook.”
Li Liner who was staring intently at Lin Huai suddenly burst out laughing.
Lin Huai was stunned and confused so he asked, “Why are you laughing?”
“That-that’s because I used to think that you were actually Thunder God’s follower. I-I knew that you were a kind person but at the end of the day he was my nemesis so I was still rather upset about being so close with you. However now that I know the truth, it makes me feel much better as I finally realize that you are trying to take him down.”
Lin Huai nodded and said, “Alright but you have to make sure you keep this a secret otherwise if word got out, we would be in deep trouble.”
“Don’t worry, I will not share this to a single soul even if I have to die for it.”
Lin Huai was shocked and quickly said, “Don’t talk nonsense! You are not allowed to bring up a situation where you would die, instead focus on living well and enjoying your life.”
Li Liner stuck her tongue out and said, “Yes, I understand. Gosh, look at how nervous you are. I promise I will not bring up such taboo topics in the future.”
“Alright.” Lin Huai heaved a sigh of relief. Since he became a bodyguard, he was superstitious and would avoid such taboo topics as it would make him very uneasy.
Out of curiosity, Li Liner asked, “So the reason why you cared so much about Yulan College was because you wanted to protect Miss Wei?”
Li Liner sounded a little nervous upon bringing up this topic.
Without hesitation, Lin Huai replied, “That’s part of the reason but at the same time it’s because I could no longer stand by idly and look on.”
“Oh.” Deep down Li Liner softly sighed and felt a little upset. Wait, why am I behaving like this? Brother Huai is such a kind person and he deserves to date someone like Miss Wei from the Wei Family. They are match made in heaven. I should feel happy that they are together. Furthermore, Brother Lin Huai is the saviour of my life and I would never be able to repay him. I need to stop overthinking.
Sigh, no matter what, it’s still an occasion worth celebrating now that I know Brother Lin Huai is not a follower of Thunder God.
In that instant, Li Liner felt a sense of relief. She stood up and with a smile, she said, “Brother Lin Huai, you had too much to drink today so go rest and sleep early.”
Lin Huai smiled and said, “I had a good nap just now so let me help out with the dishes.”
Li Liner agreed in a gentle and soft voice. Then they stood in front of the basin and scrubbed the plates and bowls clean. A feeling of happiness suddenly rose from the bottom of Li Liner’s heart. If only every day of my life could be as such, forever and ever.
After the dishes were washed, Lin Huai and Li Liner headed to the washroom to clean up their hands. Once the tap was turned on, the both of them subconsciously stretched their arms out and because of that their hands tangled up by accident. Li Liner’s heart skipped a beat and as she lifted her head, she blushed. The look on her face right then was identical to the look on her face when she saw Lin Huai for the first time. She looked a little shy but also a little anxious.
Lin Huai withdrew his arm and said, “You can go first.”
Li Liner acknowledged gently and the voice that came out of her mouth was as soft as the sound of a mosquito. Once she was done washing her hands, it was then Lin Huai’s turn to do the same. Suddenly, Li Liner hugged Lin Huai by the waist which gave him a shock. His heart was racing as he felt how soft and tender her breasts were.
Li Liner bashfully said, “Please, can I accompany you?”
Lin Huai took a deep breath and said, “Liner, you don’t have to do this.”
“Brother Lin Huai, I don’t need you to take responsibility for my life. I am beyond grateful that you saved me from such a dangerous place so I don’t need you to take responsibility towards me. Even if I become your mistress and have to stay in the shadows for the rest of my life, that’s fine by me.”
Lin Huai’s heart ached and he gently sighed. He wiped his hands dry and then grabbed onto Li Liner’s shoulders and softly replied, “Never look down on yourself, do you understand? You are going to have a bright future ahead of you so don’t think about the bad things that occurred in the past. You are an amazing girl and you would definitely have a bright future ahead of you. Come, be a good girl and rest early, don’t think too much.”
Upon saying that, Lin Huai kissed Li Liner on the forehead and walked out of the washroom.
Li Liner caressed her forehead as she bit onto her lips. She sighed lightly and said, “Brother Lin Huai, do you know that I have already fallen in love with you…”
