- Chapter 13 - The Heroine has Her Eyes on Me as Her Brother’s Wife Chapter 13
The untouched snow was trampled relentlessly by small steps.
Rachel’s steps were faster today.
Zion followed Rachel while panting slightly.
“Ruby, where are we going? My sister only told me to play around here ….”
At Zion’s words, Rachel paused.
Almost hit Rachel on her back, Zion stopped quickly.
“What is it?” Zion grumbled softly.
“Zion.”
Rachel’s voice sounded lower today. Zion tilted his head.
Rachel slowly turned around. As she raised the ends of her mouth in a sly smile, her doll-like appearance stood out even more.
Rachel spoke in a clear voice.
“I’ll show you what you like.”
“What do I like?….”
Zion tilted his head to the other side and didn’t understand what Rachel meant.
There were a few things Zion liked.
His only sister Eve, his sister’s special meat stew, his sister patting his head, hitting trees with the frozen fruit made by his sister, and anything warm. That was all.
Seeing Zion deeply immersed in his thoughts, Rachel exhaled a frustrated breath.
Then she reached out her little hand in front of Zion.
Then,
As if it had been waiting, the flames began to burn. The warm heat that touched his face turned Zion’s to surprise.
“This is it!”
Zion’s worry turned into admiration. It was Rachel’s specialty, fire magic.
It was a few days ago that Zion first noticed Rachel’s magic.
After Eve went out to sell medicinal herbs, it seemed that the surroundings were getting warmer, and Zion slowly opened his eyes.
Rachel, while crouching in front of the firewood, caught his eye. He was rubbing his eyes and just about to call out for her.
“…!”
The fire flared from Rachel’s hand. It was so fast that he might not have seen it if he blinked. Zion was all mouthfuls.
“That should be enough.”
Rachel shook her hand as if she had been doing hard labour for ten years. After that, she raised herself to go back to bed.
“… Did you see it?”
Zion and her eyes met.
It’s getting bothersome. Rachel clicked her tongue unnoticeably.
Seeing Zion shivering because of the cold, she ignited the fire. If she knew this would happen, she would have left it alone.
“What just happened?”
Sure enough, Zion saw the fire and stood close to Rachel.
“What was that just now?”
“W-what was it?”
“Show me one more time.”
“Isn’t that a dream?”
“Even with my sister…!”
“I’ll show you, so don’t tell her.”
Thus, the contract between them was signed.
Rachel showed Zion the fire on the condition that he did not speak to Eve about it.
In fact, he could barely see it even if he squeezed his eyes. Rachel didn’t seem to like her fire very much.
But Rachel made a whole fire first, even when Zion didn’t ask!
Zion looked at Rachel with a face as excited as a child about to have a feast.
“Ruby’s fire is amazing. It’s really warm!”
“Warm?”
“Yes, it doesn’t go out, and more than anything….”
Zion reached out his hand carefully. The flames shrank before his hand could reach them. Zion brightened his eyes even more.
“This fire, I think it recognises me!”
“….”
What should I do with this pure soul? Rachel sighed softly.
No, it was a good thing. She can use this fire as bait to coax Zion.
Let’s get started.
Rachel thought so and put out the fire she had made on her hand.
When the warm temperature disappeared and the cold wind blew again, Zion shrank and tears formed in his eyes.
“It’s cold ….”
“Isn’t it really cold in the North, too?”
“Yes, it’s too cold. I always ask my sister to go somewhere warm, but she says we can’t.”
“Why? We can go somewhere warm. The South, for example.”
Rachel tilted her head as if she knew nothing.
Zion stared at Rachel’s hand without answering. It means I’ll only give you an answer if you make a fire.
‘He’s just like his sister at times like this.’
Eventually, Rachel raised her hand again to create a small flame. Zion’s face was filled with joy.
“Now, answer.”
“Yes. My sister said she needs to save a lot of money here.”
Zion answered sharply.
“Money?”
“Yes, we have to save a lot of money to move.”
Moving? Rachel’s eyes sank darkly.
Then, as if to respond to the feelings, the flames that had been on her hands grew bigger.
Wow! Feeling excited, Zion jumped and said, “Yes, and after saving a lot of money, we had to buy a last name!”
“Last name?”
“Yes!”
Does Sister want to live with last name? Rachel tilted her head.
The sister seemed to have a lot of things she wanted. Is it for all this that you need to save a lot of money?
“Well, I can give them all as gifts.”
Rachel arranged what her sister wanted in her head.
1. A handsome guy
2. A last name
3. A lot of money
4. The ability to move to a warm place
“What?”
Rachel smiled quietly. No matter how hard she thought about it, her brother was the only one who could fulfill all these things.
The little smile grew more and more insidious. Her fire intensified as her emotions deepened. Zion’s shouts also grew.
Rachel, who erased her smile, blinked and said naturally.
“Sister’s wishes, there’s a way to solve it all at once.”
“Really?”
“Yes, you can follow the handsome brother who just came.”
“Really? Then can he do evenrything that sister wants?”
“Yes, he can.”
“He’s amazing!”
“Right? If that brother and sister become close, then he will probably have what your sister likes.”
“Wow!”
Zion’s blue eyes sparkled. Just imagining her sister’s face dyed with joy, his mood seemed to pierce the sky.
Rachel, who was looking up along Zion, paused.
“Zion.”
“Huh?”
“I know you’re in a good mood, but hide your ears.”
Zion’s eyes grew bigger when she said something like a bolt from the sky.
Zion raised both hands and pressed his head in a hurry.
The touch of the wolf’s ears felt with his fingertips, and Zion made a faint, frightening sound.
“Y-you can’t tell my sister!”
“Yeah. Hide your tail, too.” Rachel said so, removing the fire from her hand.
With a whimper, Zion, who hid his wolf’s features, ran to Rachel’s side.
Rachel was bending over and clumping the snow in the winter forest. However, the heat in her hands melted it immediately.
Zion sat closely next to Rachel, whose lips were pouting.
“You’re not going to tell her, are you?”
“I won’t.”
“Really?”
“Really!”
Zion shut his mouth firmly. Rachel grinned and raised herself up.
After all, you can’t win snowball fights. I wish Sister made her ice just like then.
Rachel thought so and took her steps back to her cabin.
“You can’t tell her! I’m serious!”
“Okay.”
“Did you promise?”
“Then you promise me too. You won’t hate him.”
“Okay!”
Zion didn’t seem to know what kind of promise he was making.
“You have to keep your promise.”
Rachel smiled little as she looked at this cute wolf coming to her.
