Chapter 371: Chapter 349, Embarrassing_1
“Hey, don’t be mad. Was it just a piece of watermelon?”
Having left the manor, Daohua headed straight for the mountain with her head down.
Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, Xiao Yeyang thought she was angry and had no choice but to go up to her and soften his tone.
Daohua turned and glanced at him, “I’m not angry. If I got upset over something so trivial, I’d have been driven mad by you long ago.”
Upon hearing that, Xiao Yeyang laughed, quickened his pace to walk beside Daohua, tilted his head to look at her, and was about to say something amusing to cheer her up when he noticed her complexion seemed off.
“Are you alright?”
Xiao Yeyang reached out to stop Daohua, turned her toward him with his hand, and carefully examined her complexion.
Daohua, seeing that he was poking around again, swiftly brushed his hands away, about to say something, but then she heard Xiao Yeyang speak.
“Why is your complexion so poor? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”
Xiao Yeyang looked at Daohua with concern. He recalled how she had been picking grapes under the glaring sun and his face showed a hint of reproach, “What were you doing, picking grapes in such hot weather? Look what’s happened now. You’ve got heat stroke, haven’t you?”
Daohua felt an increasing pain in her lower abdomen and didn’t want to argue, so she said with a mix of anger and weakness, “I don’t have heat stroke. I just ate too much watermelon and my stomach is uncomfortable. I’ll have Manman boil some ginger tea for me later; that should help.”
With that, she passed by Xiao Yeyang and continued walking up the mountain.
Seeing Daohua not in high spirits, Xiao Yeyang didn’t press further and quickly followed her.
Halfway up the mountain, Daohua’s face suddenly looked strange, and then she squatted down clutching her stomach.
Xiao Yeyang was startled and quickly crouched beside her, holding her arm, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling dizzy? I’m telling you, you must have heat stroke.”
Daohua pushed Xiao Yeyang’s hand away, looking somewhat embarrassed, “I don’t have heat stroke. Xiao Yeyang, why don’t you go ahead? I’ll just rest here for a bit…”
Before she could finish speaking, she felt herself being lifted off the ground.
Xiao Yeyang scooped up Daohua in his arms and quickly started up the mountain, “Just bear with it for a moment. I’ll take you back to Taohua Temple right now so Master Gu can give you a look.”
Daohua: “…”
Difu, who had been following behind, and Wang Manman were also taken aback. Wang Manman wanted to come forward and ask, but Difu stopped her, “Miss Manman, with the master here, Miss Yan won’t be in any trouble.”
Wang Manman was full of self-reproach, “The weather has been so hot recently, and the miss has been a bit greedy, eating quite a bit of watermelon. I didn’t stop her.”
Difu hastened to comfort her, “It’ll be alright. Master Gu is so skilled in medicine; one dose will cure Miss Yan.”
…
Inside Taohua Temple, Granny Gu was sitting under the eaves cracking melon seeds, and Gu Jian was sorting herbs beside her. The two chatted leisurely until they saw Xiao Yeyang carrying Daohua back in a panic, upon which they both stood up in unison.
“What’s the matter?”
Gu Jian quickly stepped forward.
In a worried voice, Xiao Yeyang said, “Master Gu, you have to take a look. Daohua has heat stroke…”
Daohua cut him off, “I don’t have heat stroke.” She tugged at Xiao Yeyang’s clothes, “Put me down. I really don’t have heat stroke.”
“If you don’t have heat stroke, why does your face look so bad?”
Seeing Daohua’s pale face, Gu Jian said directly to Xiao Yeyang, “Quick, take her inside the room. I’ll go and prepare the medicine.”
Xiao Yeyang immediately did as he was told, carrying Daohua into her room and carefully placing her on the bed.
As soon as she was on the bed, Daohua eagerly pulled the quilt over herself and then waved Xiao Yeyang away, “Get out, hurry up and get out.”
Xiao Yeyang didn’t want to leave, but seeing that Daohua was really anxious, he said somewhat helplessly, “I’ll go help Master Gu prepare the medicine. You rest well, alright!”
Having left the room, Xiao Yeyang headed straight for the pharmacy, but after taking just a few steps, he spotted the bloodstain on his robe and his face dramatically changed color. He quickly turned back and ran towards Daohua’s room, asking as he ran, “Yan Yiyi, where are you injured, why are you bleeding?”
Upon hearing Xiao Yeyang make such a loud fuss, Daohua’s face turned beet red in an instant. She tossed off the blanket and buried her head inside, angrily shouting out of embarrassment and annoyance.
“Xiao Yeyang, get out of here!”
The old Granny Gu, who had just entered the room, was momentarily stunned before she let out a chuckle, looking at her grandson who was beyond anxious, with an air of amused disapproval.
“All right, all right, Yiyi is fine, in a little while, I’ll have Master Gu prepare a bowl of brown sugar ginger tea for her to drink, that will do.”
Xiao Yeyang, not reassured, pointed to the bloodstain on his robe: “But she is injured…”
Granny Gu, afraid her grandson would embarrass Daohua even more, causing her to wish she could sink into the ground, hurriedly cut him off: “She’s not injured, all right, now come with me. A young lady’s boudoir is no place for you to enter.”
Without further discussion, she pulled Xiao Yeyang out of the room.
Once outside, they encountered Gu Jian, who had come over upon hearing the commotion: “What exactly happened to the girl? Where is she injured?”
Granny Gu answered directly: “She’s not injured, go prepare a bowl of brown sugar ginger tea.” Saying this, she turned around and went back into Daohua’s room.
Upon hearing this, Gu Jian instantly understood and gave Xiao Yeyang an exasperated glance: “What are you making a fuss about? If nothing’s happening, don’t make such a ruckus, you made me almost mess up the medicine.” With that, he turned and went back to preparing the tea.
Xiao Yeyang: “…”
What’s this?
Wasn’t she injured?
Xiao Yeyang lifted his robe, looked at the bloodstain, and appeared confused: “How come there’s blood if she’s not injured?”
In the room, Granny Gu was softly and gently comforting Daohua.
She knew that for a girl experiencing her first period, it was natural to feel a bit panicky and embarrassed.
Daohua was completely wrapped in the blanket, only revealing a small portion of her blushed face: “Granny, I’m fine, you don’t need to care about me, I just want to rest a bit.”
Granny Gu smiled, knowing she felt shy, and simply instructed: “During this time, make sure not to catch a cold, and you can’t eat watermelon or any other cold foods either.”
Daohua nodded: “I know.”
Granny Gu patted the blanket and then rose to leave with a smile.
After she had left, Daohua covered her head with the blanket again, feeling vexed.
This is such an embarrassing blunder!
Having her period and everyone finding out, her silly brain…
She should have realized what was happening when her lower abdomen started to hurt!
Outside, Xiao Yeyang looked at Gu Jian, who was calmly preparing the brown sugar ginger tea, and then at Granny Gu, who seemed relaxed. He felt slightly relieved.
It seemed Daohua really didn’t have any serious problem!
But what exactly was the matter?
Xiao Yeyang turned and went back to his room to change his clothes, and not long after, Defu entered.
“Do you know what ailment Daohua has?”
Defu looked at his clearly bewildered master, hesitated for a moment, and then said, “Master, Miss Yan is not ill, she… she’s just having her period.”
“What period?” Xiao Yeyang was a bit confused at first, but then he suddenly remembered the information recorded in the Medical Book, and instantly, his ears turned red.
