Chapter 29: Doing Away With An Accomplice
A sharp knife made of ice that smelled like buckwheat flowers suddenly appeared in Feng Ruchu’s left hand after she said that.
Feng Ruchu looked at Mo Qing and saw him sipping his tea elegantly, as if he did not just magically send a knife into her hand.
Feng Ruchu had never been a bashful person. She raised the knife and slid it through Wang San’s lips to get to his tongue.
Blood gushed out of Wang San’s lips and ran down his chin. The redness of his blood reflected in Feng Ruchu’s eyes, giving them a terrifying crimson gleam.
Not expecting Feng Ruchu to actually do it, Wang San was scared to death and quickly gave Feng Ruchu the answer she wanted, “I will tell you, I will tell you! It was the third—”
Before Wang San could finish, a golden ray impaled his heart. Wang San’s eyes bulged in disbelief, his mouth still open as he looked down at the gaping wound. He exhaled raggedly and collapsed to the floor, dead.
It had been one of the moves of the Goldstar Clan, making the person who cast it obvious.
“Doing away with an accomplice? You are impatient, Your Highness.” Feng Ruchu wiped her knife clean as she turned to the crown prince with a cynical smile.
Nangong Yan was dressed in golden attire, his hand on his Brilliant Sword. He was considered handsome due to his angular features, and his arrogant aura made it obvious that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
“Such a filthy slave! He deserved death since he tried to ruin the good name of the royals!”
“Are you feeling unfair for me, Your Highness, or just doing away with an accomplice? It’s such a shame that your impulsive move just destroyed all the clues we might have gotten to trace the culprit. After all, he was just a pitiful servant who would not dare to do what he had done if it weren’t for the real culprit backing him,” Feng Ruchu drawled, with obvious implications in her words.
She was neither surprised nor mad with what had happened. After all, the crown prince was a prominent being in the kingdom, and he was not someone easy to get rid of, even if Wang San were to speak out and confront him.
“Are you accusing me?” Nangong Yan demanded angrily.
“How could I dare, Your Highness?” Feng Ruchu asked charmingly, not even the slightest bit scared of the crown prince’s anger as she toyed with her knife.
“I don’t care if he died, so long as I get to clear my name,” Feng Ruchu added lazily. She paused and tucked her knife away, then continued while giving the crown prince an innocent look, “You saw how the interrogation went, Your Highness. Do you believe that I am innocent now?”
“I…” Nangong Yan hesitated, but Feng Ruchu did not even let him have the time to think and turned to the throne where the emperor was sitting and bowed to him. “What do you think, Your Majesty?”
“And you, Your Grace?” Feng Ruchu then turned to Mo Qing and asked.
Mo Qing let out a soft chuckle. This little girl… How dare she get him involved?
The emperor was upset about how the incident had unfolded, but he hid his emotions well.
Even though the Saint had not said a word throughout the whole incident, he was the only one who was capable of sending a knife into Feng Ruchu’s hand without being noticed.
The Saint was siding with her, albeit subtly.
The emperor was smart enough to not make an enemy of the Saint. He smiled and said earnestly to Feng Ruchu, “It is clear to me that the crown princess had been wronged. I will make sure to get to the bottom of this, and do you justice.”
