Chapter 38: Bang My Head Against a Wall?
Unfortunately, the siblings were too young at the time of the incident, so their memory of it was vague. One of them was mentally retarded, while the other had been in a coma for more than a decade. How could she gather evidence to find the culprit and get her revenge?
Feng Ruchu was at her wits’ end when the old wooden door was pushed open noisily.
A haggard old lady came in with a large bowl in her hands. She threw the bowl on the floor and yelled at Feng Ruchu impatiently, “Eat!”
Feng Ruchu took a closer look at the bowl. It was a huge white porcelain bowl, and its rim was chipped badly. It was also covered in a thick layer of dirt and smelly stains, as if it hadn’t been washed in years.
Inside the bowl was a moldy steamed bun in a sour soup. There were a few rotten leaves in the soup that smelled absolutely disgusting.
Feng Ruchu wrinkled her nose. “That’s all?”
Although Feng Nianchu was in a vegetative state, he still had to ingest liquid food to survive. However, the Feng family was feeding him leftovers that even the pigs would have turned away from. Were they trying to send him off to meet the king of hell early?
The old maid put her hands on her hips and grinned cruelly. “What a strange question! Are you imagining exotic delicacies, maybe even ginseng and deer antler?”
Feng Ruchu didn’t say a word, and just glared at the old maid icily.
A chill ran down the old maid’s spine, but she still poked the scar on Feng Ruchu’s forehead out of habit and sneered, “What are you looking at? If you do that again, I will gouge your eyes out myself.”
“You’d better know your place – you’re just a retarded good-for-nothing with a half-dead liability. If I were you, I would just bang my head against a brick wall to kill myself. I wouldn’t survive off the mercy of the Feng family. Even a dog or a pig from the Feng family is a hundred times more noble than you.”
“Bang my head against a wall?” Feng Ruchu echoed as she smoothened Nianchu’s shaggy hair.
“Yes, it’s better to just kill yourself,” the old maid answered smugly.
Before the old maid could blink, Feng Ruchu got up and grabbed the old maid’s hair with one hand. The old maid’s neat bun was ripped off, and she felt excruciating pain in her scalp. Feng Ruchu dragged her by her hair, and then slammed her against the wall.
Boom!
The maid’s blood was flowing as she struggled to move backwards. She howled in pain, and roughly wiped away the blood that covered her face. The old main pointed at Feng Ruchu, hatred in her eyes. “How dare you hit me?! I’ll complain to the lady, and you’ll be in trouble!”
Feng Ruchu picked her up single-handedly and pulled her close, then sneered, “You were the one who said that you wanted to bang your head against a wall—I just granted your wish.” Feng Ruchu smiled wickedly and narrowed her eyes. “Do you really think I’ll just give you the chance to go and whine about me?”
The old maid didn’t know what had happened on the sacrificial grounds; she had thought that Feng Ruchu was still the same weak and timid girl that was easy to bully.
But now, she felt spiritual energy emanating from Feng Ruchu’s body, coupled with a murderous aura. The old maid trembled uncontrollably and waved her hand quickly. A white light flashed before Feng Ruchu, and she felt a numbness in her eyes. She let go of the maid’s hand instinctively.
The old maid immediately seized the opportunity to flee.
Feng Ruchu mused, ‘This old maid can perform spiritual magic? Her spiritual power might be weak, but it’s not bad.’
