Chapter 5: I Don’t Think Miss Jiang Is A Scheming Person

Although the old lady had already told Xie Min that Xie Cheng would not treat her well since his leg was injured, Jiang Fu was crying when she walked out of Xie Cheng’s courtyard.
Ah Chu hurriedly went up to her and said anxiously, “Miss, what’s wrong? What did the general say? I’ll report to the Old Madam and let her talk to him about it!”
Jiang Fu waved her hand. “Don’t.”
She pulled Chu into a small path where there were fewer people. She took out a handkerchief and wiped her tears. “Don’t tell anyone about what happened today.”
“Don’t tell Grandmother, and don’t tell Min’er and Yao’er either.” Jiang Fu looked down and folded her tear-stained handkerchief. She lowered her head and said gravely, “General injured his leg. We should treat him better. We can’t let Grandmother lecture him about this.”
Chu was a servant of the Xie family. She used to respect Xie Cheng very much. However, when she saw Jiang Fu crying, she immediately forgot who she was. Her first reaction was to tell Old Madam Xie, for she could not let anyone bully Jiang Fu.
Even if it was Xie Cheng.
“Ah Chu, don’t tell Grandmother about this, okay?” Jiang Fu reached out and gently tugged at Ah Chu.
Ah Chu was in a difficult position, but looking at Jiang Fu, she nodded reluctantly and said, “Okay.”
Shortly after, she said, “Let’s go back quickly. Old Madam Xie is still waiting for you to eat.”
Jiang Fu nodded. She was about to set off when she seemed to have remembered something. She stopped and asked Ah Chu, “Are my eyes still red? If they are, I’ll go back later.”
Ah Chu looked at it seriously and answered honestly, “A little.”
Although Jiang Fu had a gentle personality, she was scary if she got angry. Ah Chu did not want Jiang Fu to be angry with her.
The little girl stood under the tree and touched her eyelashes. She said slowly, “Then let’s wait a little longer.”
Ah Chu nodded and waited quietly with her. After a while, she looked up at the birds chirping on the branch and nudged Jiang Fu. “Miss, there’s a bird’s nest up there.”
Jiang Fu followed her gaze and looked up. Indeed, she saw a bird’s nest. “You want to eat it?”
Ah Chu nodded and looked up at the bird’s nest. “Yes.”
Jiang Fu looked up at the bird’s nest and pursed her lips. “Today is the day the general returns. I don’t think it’s good to dig out the bird’s nest.”
Ah Chu tilted her head and thought about it. It made sense – the general returned today, and she had to do good to accumulate merit. It was better to leave such things for tomorrow.
Hence, she nodded at Jiang Fu. “That’s right. Shall we come tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
“Girl, your eyes are not red anymore.”
“Then let’s go back.”
“Yeah.”
–
Grand General Xie’s residence.
Eleven stood at the side and hesitated.
Xie Cheng put down his chopsticks and looked up at him.
Eleven looked away guiltily and paused before saying, “I don’t think Miss Jiang is a scheming person.”
Xie Cheng turned his head to look at him. “You’ve only met her a few times. How do you know that she’s not?”
Eleven stood beside him and muttered softly, “Then how do you know she’s scheming?”
His gaze seemed to be even more glaring. Eleven quickly moved to the side, wishing he could just move out of the room.
Xie Cheng laughed. “Her father lost so much money in the casino, and she has a younger brother at home. She depends on her mother to do embroidery work to support the family. She was sold into our family and was originally supposed to be a maidservant, but my grandmother raised her like her biological granddaughter because we had matching fates. She even gave her her bracelet and collar. Xie Min didn’t even receive such treatment.”
“Look at everyone in the general’s residence. They were all so happy to please her, and it’s only been a few months. If she could do so, she’s not a simple-minded person.”
