Chapter 130 Untitled
The following morning. On El Tech Company’s first floor. The conference room.
Leo managed to attend the weekly meeting of the company for once and was listening to the various reports about the company’s business from the employees.
When the meeting ended, he said, “Peter and Gawain stay behind, the others can leave first.”
The others gradually picked up the materials in their hand and left for their matters.
“Ehem…” Leo cleared his throat. “Gawain, how’s the Department of Technical progress of the chip’s development?”
“Not ideal.” Gawain stammered with an embarrassed expression, “Boss, El Gen chip’s technology is too complex. For nearly a year, everyone on the team is still familiarizing themselves with the relevant theory and applications. To realize a breakthrough is… Too difficult!”
Listening to this, Leo caressed his chin in silence.
Gawain’s heart was pounding and he subconsciously lowered his head. After joining El Tech Company for nearly a year, his initial position was Deputy of Technical, yet he was still Deputy of Technical even now. However, the Department of Technical never had a chief, so he was still considered one of the top. Nevertheless, Heather, who joined at the same time as he did, had climbed the organization ladder. Naturally, he also wished to climb up!
Unfortunately, there wasn’t any progress on this project…
Leo caressed his chin in thought before abruptly voicing up, “Gawain, starting from tomorrow, Peter will be the Chief of Technical. I hope you pass over the job nicely. The HR Department will publicize an official notice tomorrow morning.”
“Ah…”
“Ah…”
Both Peter and Gawain let out a shout of shock in unison.
Leo ignored Peter and looked at Gawain, “What? Do you have any doubts?”
Gawain was feeling all sorts of mixed feelings. In the end, he sighed helplessly and replied, “No, boss. I’ll do as you arranged.”
“Hm!” Leo nodded and thought for a bit before adding, “It’s already mid-January. HR is considering recruiting new people. So, make some time and cooperate with Chief Foggy to go to Columbia University to recruit a new batch of technical talents.”
“Yes, I won’t let you down,” Gawain promised with a firm attitude.
“Good, that’s all. You can go back and work.” Leo waved his hand, signaling Gawain to leave.
Making Peter the Chief of Technical was something Leo had planned a while ago. As for Gawain, during El Gen-1’s product launch, he had already seen Gawain’s ability was limited and substandard! Regardless, thinking about Gawain’s sacrifice, he didn’t remove Gawain’s position as the deputy. It was enough to leave some dignity for Gawain.
Seeing Gawain leaving, Peter asked anxiously, “Mr. Erwin, is it real that you’re letting me be the chief? I mean, am I suitable?”
He was slightly confused by Leo’s train of thought. “Right now, I still have the mechanical prosthesis project on me and I’m not familiar with the Department of Technical’s research project…”
“Hm? Isn’t the prosthesis project finished? Is there any need for you to put in some much energy in the future?” Leo interrupted Peter with a smile and replied with a question.
Peter hurriedly explained, “There isn’t any need. It’s true everything is much easier than before.”
“After recruiting a new batch of recruits, you can pick a couple of reliable ones and let them oversee the prosthesis project.” Leo gave Peter an idea before confidently declaring, “I’ve seen your design on the prosthesis. It won’t need an upgrade for at least another two or three decades. There’s no point for you to waste time on it.”
“B-but…” Peter bit his lips and said, “I’m also not confident to develop a better El series chip in a short period. I’ve seen the chip’s technology, it is extremely complex. Frankly speaking, I’ve been secretly studying it for a while, yet I still can’t understand some of the theories.” Peter was rather depressed as if doubting his capability.
Leo curbed his lips and internalized, ‘Kiddo, that’s something Dr. Zola spent most of his life creating. Then, it was me who watered it down personally! If you could understand it within half a year, I’ll be d*mned!’
Retracting his smile, he cleared his throat and said, “It’s fine, Peter. I’ll design a better chip when I’m free later. I’ll give you the blueprint tomorrow. Try studying it, you should be able to manufacture it. As for this chip, let’s name it El Gen-2.”
“Huh? Then, why… don’t you… just give it to Gaw-…” Peter suddenly shut his mouth. If he still couldn’t see Leo’s preference towards him, then it wasn’t a matter of having low EQ emotional quotation, it was having negative EQ.
“Understood! Thank you for your trust and guidance, Mr. Erwin!” Peter was over the moon. He believed it was because both of them were mutated humans and from certain perspectives, it was sort of a kindred spirit. That was why Mr. Erwin had a high opinion of him.
‘I wonder what had bitten Mr. Erwin for him to mutate this remarkably!’
“About the prosthesis marketing, is there any plan for now?” All of a sudden, Leo asked, interrupting Peter’s wild fantasy.
When discussing work, Peter snapped out of it instantly and hurriedly answered seriously, “Chief Heather planned to have a new product launch next Tuesday.”
“Hm.” Leo nodded. “Call Dr. Octavius as well. After all, he has a stake in this project too and should attend.”
“Dr. Octavius probably isn’t coming.”
“Oh?! Why?”
Peter explained, “The Neural Arms haven’t seen any slightest improvement for several months. Heeding your advice, Doc requested leave from the campus and went to Kamar-Taj, Nepal, preparing to test his luck.”
“Oh? How long has it been? Is there any good news?” Leo was startled.
“About half a month. I can’t contact Doc right now. I’m a little worried about him.” Peter frowned. To have an overseas call at this age was rather inconvenient.
“It’ll be fine. There’s a saying in the East, fate awaits every fortunate man.” Leo smiled as he consoled Peter. Then he continued discussing work-related matters with Peter before sending Peter out.
In the empty office, Leo reclined on the chair and muttered in a volume only he could hear, “Kamar-Taj… Sorcerer… Ancient One… Time Stone!”
……
Soon, it was two months since the prosthesis product launch campaign.
Due to the prosthesis manufactured by El Tech Company being high-quality and affordable, it was on fire in the related market to the point of selling very well throughout the entire America. But the prostheses weren’t like other consumer objects. Every piece of prosthesis required specific customization and it required a total of 3 to 7 days to do so.
Although Peter temporarily set up dozens of prosthesis-installing stations throughout New York City, it was still insufficient. Tons of people still arrived and the queue was akin to a long dragon.
Ultimately, under Mary Jane’s suggestion to cooperate with various big hospitals in every state, this head-splitting issue of Peter was finally resolved. As a result, Peter and Mary Jane’s relationship became even tighter.

At the moment, in faraway Washington DC, Triskallion, S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ. A slender figure was currently training in the training field ceaselessly.
Aiming at the target, Natasha fired round after round of bullets. The target’s bullseye was long gone, leaving a huge hole behind. The bored Natasha accurately carved various shapes on the target just to relieve her boredom.
