Chapter 134 Fury, How About I Escort You to be The Director
TL: Kyous
Natasha pulled out a picture from her pocket and placed it on the table, “Through this.”
Seeing that it was the picture of the prosthesis, Leo instantly figured out how he was exposed. It looked like he still underestimated the smart people in the Marvel Universe.
“Which means I’m already on S.H.I.E.L.D. ’s priority list? Don’t tell me waves of armies are charging over to my place.” Leo immediately thought of the worst-case scenario and began probing.
“No. Besides, Officer Fury and me, no one else in S.H.I.E.L.D. knows about your information.” Natasha honestly answered.
“Then, I should thank you!” Leo was momentarily reassured. “What does Fury want for him to send you to El Tech Company today?” He was being direct because he knew Fury wouldn’t cover him up just for charity.
“I come with goodwill and want to thank you. Thank you for saving me at the cotton production plant.” Natasha continued, “Officer Fury also sends his regards and wishes to make a deal with you again. As for the details, you can discuss them over the phone.”
“Just remember it is enough, there’s no need to point them out.” Leo caressed his three-day unshaven shruff on his chin, “As for Fury… You can contact and report to him now, I’ll talk with him directly.” Leo pointed at the phone on the table.
“Now?!” Natasaha was startled. She didn’t even pursue Leo’s shamelessness.
“Of course, it’s now. You’re an important bargaining chip. I got a million dollars because of you last time.” Leo stood up and walked over to the door before locking it. “Miss Natasha, I’m afraid to tell you. From now on, you’re kidnapped… No, imprisoned.”
“You…”
“What about it?! Don’t Bucky is coming to save. I made the choice.” Leo threatened, “He may stop me from killing you, but won’t object to me restricting your personal freedom.”
“You…” Natasha’s fist was creaking. Her original favorable view of Leo plummeted instantly. Instead, her anger surged up to the point of wanting to beat Leo up. But after considering for a bit, she recalled the mysterious flying black suit and realized she couldn’t defeat Leo at all!
She took several deep breaths to suppress the anger in her heart. Then, she picked up the phone on the table and dialed a number.
Leo trudged over and pressed the speaker button.
Natasha lividly glared at Leo but was powerless against him.
Dringring… Dringring…
There’s a three-hour time difference between New York and San Francisco. It was already dark on Leo’s side, but the sun was still showing a big smile on Fury’s side.
When Natasha dialed the number, it was still working hours for Fury, and he quickly saw the unfamiliar number. The number belonged to New York state. He pondered for a bit before picking up the call, “Hello, may I ask who are you looking for?”
“Officer Fury, it’s Natasha Romanoff.” Hearing it was Fury’s voice, she stated her name right away. “I’ve something to report to you.”
“Oh?! There are already results of the operation? Your efficiency is great!” Fury was astonished, “Wait a bit. I will encrypt the call first and call you back later.”
Several seconds later, the phone in Leo’s office rang, but the incoming number was a bunch of gibberish. Leo walked over and pressed the speaker button again before sitting back in his seat.
Fury’s voice came out of the phone, “Is Ivan Avatar in El Tech Company?”
Leering at Leo, Natasha puffed out her cheeks in frustration and answered, “Yes. His real name is Leo Erwin, El Tech Company’s owner.”
“Hehe, finally!” On the other end of the phone, Fury excitedly stood and praised Natasha’s working capability.
Just as Fury was happy, Natasha abruptly said, “Officer Fury, I’m afraid to tell you that I’ve been imprisoned. Leo Erwin is standing right next to me. He’s preparing to use me as a bargaining chip to negotiate with you. If you have any deal you wish to talk about, now’s the time.”
The smile on Fury’s face froze and unable to speak for a long time while holding the phone. Leo chose not to open his mouth as he had the upper hand right now.
After a while, Fury sat back on his chair and said, “Mr. Erwin, I demand that you immediately release Agent Romanoff. We came bearing good intentions and we’re not enemies. You don’t have to resort to kidnapping to negotiate.”
Fury added, “S.H.I.E.L.D. can choose to cooperate, but never will accept any form of threatening. Your location has been exposed, you should think carefully before you act.”
“What a coincidence, I’m also not afraid of threatening. S.H.I.E.L.D. is a big family while I’m just a lone man. The monk may run away, but the temple cannot run with him. As for me, I can just move to another place and change my name, right?” Leo finally opened his mouth and chuckled, “Besides, I’ll be frank with you. The current S.H.I.E.L.D. means nothing in my eyes. Nothing but full of garbage. What S.H.I.E.L.D.? It should be called H.Y.D.R.A. 2.0 instead!”
“What’s the meaning of this?”
“You should understand the meaning of this clearly, right? How many H.Y.D.R.A. snakes within S.H.I.E.L.D., you should have a clear idea, right?”
Leo chose to lay his cards on the table, “You sent Agent Romanoff to find me, wasn’t it for getting the names of H.Y.D.R.A. spies in S.H.I.E.L.D. from me?”
There was a sudden silence on the phone. Only after a long while, Fury spoke, “As you’ve guessed, that exactly is my so-called deal. In exchange for the names, what do you want?”
“Hm, let me think about it…” Rubbing his scruff, Leo began to think. Right now, he wasn’t lacking in money. Therefore…
“How about technology?” Leo said, “Howard Stark was one of the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founders, right? He probably helped you develop various high-end technologies. Give me a copy of those technologies. Put in the phone encrypting technology as well. Then, I can give the H.Y.D.R.A. 2.0’s name list.”
“It’s S.H.I.E.L.D.” Fury was rather annoyed.
“Almost the same. It’s a snake den after all. You probably understand my words…” Leo continuously hinted.
Fury stayed mum again. After one minute passed, he said in a deep voice, “I agree to your conditions. However, I’m not in the HQ right now, so copying the data requires some time.”
“Why? Have you been chased out?! How miserable!” Leo began fanning the flame, “How about we made another deal too?”
“What deal?” Fury was wary.
“I’ll help you kill every snake in H.Y.D.R.A. 2.0 and escort you all the way to be the director. How about it?” Leo’s tone was carefree as if buying fruits in a supermarket.
Fury furrowed his brow. Whether or not Leo had this capability was put aside, what he was more concerned about was, “If it works, what do you want?”
“S.H.I.E.L.D. belongs to me secretly!” Leo was slightly surprised by his own boldness. Ever since he had Viper Mark V, his ego was slightly inflated.
Stunned to the core, Fury’s astonishment turned into fury instantly. Nonetheless, he couldn’t perceive how powerful Leo currently was, but Black Widow was imprisoned by Leo. Fury could only suppress his fury and said, “This price is too costly. I can’t pay it.”
Fury decided not to continue this crazy conversation with Leo and forcefully changed the topic, “Stop the nonsense. Let’s discuss the deal’s details. Are you going to give the names in one go or separately?”
Seeing Fury didn’t agree to his suggestion, Leo was rather disappointed, “Sigh! Fury, you really are loyal to H.Y.D.R.A. 2.0, yet you’ve been kicked out from HQ. Truly a tragedy! For the sake of your tragedy, I’ll kindly provide one-third of the names to you. After you complete the deal on your end, then I’ll give you the rest.”
Then, Leo added another sentence, “The deal I proposed just now is valid for a long time. When you think it through, feel free to contact me. Also, if you ever suddenly encounter some unresolvable issues, feel free to contact me too. I’m happy to help.”
“Thanks, but no thanks!” Leo was scared by Leo’s crazy demand and directly rejected Leo’s ‘kindness’ and protested, “Just like a mercenary! Everything needs a payment!”
