Chapter 13: Gold Coins

It was a pleasant surprise to have been able to obtain an interspatial ring. It could make things much more convenient for Jon.
“Sir Jon, this seems to be a warehouse.”
Iris found a room that was only half blown up from a height close to the second floor. After entering, she found that what was inside of it was basically just some meats.
“Oh my God, this is all gold coins! Sir Jon, hurry up and come take a look.”
In a wooden box half the height of a man, Iris found a large pile of gold coins. By a rough count, there were nearly 3,000 of them!
Iris’s eyes were shining as she looked at the pile of gold coins.
“Alright, although I had said previously that all the spoils of war would be mine, you still played your part. Ten percent of these gold coins will be yours, and convert the rest of them to ice elemental gems for me.”
“Really? Thank you very much, Lord Jon!” Iris was very happy.
Gold coins were not very useful to Jon, who ultimately had to return to the Water Elemental Plane. However, in the mortal continent, they could be used to purchase various items. In order to make Iris do her best for him, Jon decided to reward her a bit.
“I will spare no efforts completing this task for you!”
Iris, who was from a noble family, was quite familiar with the ways to purchase gemstones. She had great confidence that she would be able to complete this small task for Jon.
“Then, now that my work has been completed, it’s time for me to return to the Water Elemental Plane,” Jon said.
“Alright, thank you very much for your help this time, Sir Jon.”
Iris was very grateful. If it weren’t for Jon, she definitely wouldn’t have been able to complete her mission. Had she run back home with her tail tucked between her legs, she for sure would have been labeled incapable, expelled from the core of power, and lived an
unstable life. Thus, Jon had basically saved her life, and Iris was naturally extremely and earnestly grateful towards Jon.
Soon thereafter, Iris terminated her summoning spell, and Jon disappeared from the mortal lands. In a flash, he returned to the Water Elemental Plane.
After returning, Jon looked at his stats window. In the level pane, he was now level 9 (3220/2000, Level Up Available). These were the level fragments that he had collected enough of to level up one time.
“Level Up!”
Jon conveyed his wishes to the system.
“Ding! You have consumed 2,000 level fragments and successfully upgraded to Level 10. Now that you have leveled up, you have received one chance to roll for a new skill. Do you wish to roll immediately?”
“Note that this opportunity is only available for 24 hours. Please use it as soon as possible.”
“Roll immediately.”
Jon chose to use this chance immediately.
The virtual screen opened. It showed an image of a horse-racing machine that could be seen from all across the street. However, the slots on the horse-racing machine that represented the prizes were all blank. Yellow dots of light swarmed across the screen and finally stopped on one of the slots.
The horse-racing machine disappeared from the virtual screen,
And then a line of words popped up on the screen:
Rolling completed. Congratulations on winning the skill “Arcane Stone Statue.”
“Arcane Stone Statue” creates and controls a powerful stone giant to assist in battle. Its strength depends on your level.
New skill? Good. Jon was very happy.
“Arcane Stone Statue!”
He immediately used this skill and tried summoning once to see how the effect was.
Tremble!
The ground underneath the sea began to shake. The rocks buried deep in the soil were pulled out of the ground and flew toward Jon under the mysterious force. Finally, in front of him, a five-meter-tall super-sized stone giant was formed.
The rock giant’s body was muscled all over, and it had a thick and strong figure. It looked like it was filled to the brim with strength. Moreover, its strength would increase with Jon’s level. It was a very useful skill.
“Gaa!”
Jon was still immersed in the joy of having obtained a new skill. Suddenly, a strange cry sounded from not too far away. His face darkened and he turned to look in the direction from where it came.
What appeared in his field of vision was a strange-looking fish. Although generally it had the appearance of a fish, but it strangely had a pair of pincers and a circle of special tentacles around its mouth.
The virtual screen marked it:
Mutated Prawn, Elite Level 15.
Description: A strange fish that wanders about the depths of the sea. It is possibly a cross between a fish and lobster. Its pincers have are fierce and sharp, and the scales on its body are like cast iron. It has an extremely strong physical defense.
“Ding! Mission unlocked. Kill the Mutated Prawn.”
The Level-15 Elite Mutated Prawn was obviously very interested in Jon’s arcane stone statue, and looked at it eagerly from afar.
In addition, it had also taken an interest in Jon. These monsters loved to eat the crystal essence of elemental creatures to strengthen themselves.
“Tear it up, arcane stone statue!”
“Roar!”
The five-meter-tall stone colossus raised its head and bellowed. It rushed toward the mutated prawn at an extremely fast speed not fitting of its huge body.
The mutated prawn had a playful look in its eyes as it wrapped its tentacles toward the arcane giant.
The arcane giant dodged left and right, but the tentacles still followed it like a shadow.
“Gaa!”
The elite mutated prawn and the arcane giant were evenly matched in strength. They had entered a back-and-forth tug of war battle with mutated prawn’s tentacles.
“Elemental Leap Wave Slash!”
Seeing this scene, Jon immediately joined the battlefield. He closed the 100-meter distance between them in a blink, and when he got nearby the mutant prawn, he slashed out with the sword in his hand.
“Clang!”
The water-rock elemental sword cut across the elite mutant prawn’s scales, leaving a white mark on the fish scales. A sound of friction loud enough to make people clench their teeth resonated from where Jon’s sword and the fish’s scales met. Jon had no doubt that if they were not in the water, that hit right now would definitely have made plenty of sparks.
The mutant prawn came back to its senses and mustered its idle tentacles for attacking Jon.
“Elemental Spirit Shock!”
Jon used Elemental Spirit Shock to slow down the elite mutant prawn’s movements. Then, he leaned forward and stabbed the water-rock elemental sword at its eyes.
However, something unexpected happened. Originally, Elemental Spirit Shock could stun its target for a second, which would have been enough time for Jon to stab his sword into the mutant prawn’s eyes. However, whether it be because of the huge difference in level between the two of them or because the opponent had resistance to spiritual attacks, the mutant prawn was only stunned for half a second before it recovered and raised its pincers to block Jon’s sword.
After blocking Jon’s attack, the mutant prawn continued to wrap its tentacles around Jon’s body.
“Double Sword Desire!”
Jon drew his sword and turned around to use Double Sword Desire, cutting all the tentacles that were wrapped around him into two pieces.
“Elemental Leap Wave Strike!”
He used Elemental Jump Wave Strike to escape from the elite mutant prawn and rush towards the arcane stone statue.
“Break!”
Jon drew his sword and cut off all the tentacles that were wrapped around the arcane stone statue.
“Elemental Throw!”
After saving the arcane giant, Jon changed his attack style to see if Elemental Throw could cause any damage to it.
“Poof!”
Success! The shockwave of the explosion passed through its hard scales and the damage was transmitted to its innards. The mutated prawn spat out a mouthful of blood.
“Let’s attack together!”
Jon gave the order to the arcane stone statue, and it rushed toward the mutated prawn.
The elite mutant shrimp was beyond just furious after being injured, and it held its pincers upwards fighting hand-to-hand with the arcane giant. It aimed its pincers towards the golem, and the golem aimed a punch back at it.
