Chapter 18: Three Elemental Creatures

Jon was a little surprised. “You can use battle aura this way?”
However, he did not panic. He shouted, “Break,” and slashed the blue battle aura away.
“Take this!”
Jon gripped the hilt with both hands and raised the water-rock-ice sword high up. Taking advantage of the moment when the blue battle aura was dispersed, he stabbed it into the back of the beast-horned tiger like a spear. Immediately, fresh blood spurted out like a fountain.
“Ding! Mission completed. Level 19 Elite Beast-Horned Tiger killed. Level fragment +2,000 obtained. Successfully extracted battle aura type advanced fragment +150 from the target’s body.”
After killing the beast-horned tiger, Jon surveyed his surroundings again. After finding no other creatures that could pose a threat to him, he walked over to the spirit grass, dug it out, and put it into his interspatial ring.
As someone who was once a human, Jon actually liked this area quite a bit more than the never-ending seas of some places in the Water Elemental Plane. Unfortunately, this area was just a small world and there was hardly anything here. Jon would definitely be leaving this place in the future.
Walking on the road, Jon happened to see a pond in front of him. The surface of the water trembled slightly, and after moving forward for a while, he heard the sound of a fight not too far away.
“What’s going on?” Out of curiosity, Jon quickened his pace, wanting to see who was fighting and figure out what was happening.
Speaking of which, ever since entering this strange space, Jon had not felt the gaze of that seaweed monster. It was very strange.
Shortly thereafter, Jon found the two creatures who were fighting as he hid amongst the lush tree leaves.
On a flat piece of land where the plants had all basically been stomped flat, an enormous creature was roaring furiously. It was a huge lizard-like monster nearly six meters tall and more than ten meters long. It had only one eye on its head, and its body was covered with thick scales that looked like armor.
The virtual screen showed the description:
Cyclops Fish Scale Beast, Elite Level 21.
Description: A peculiar creature adept at using battle aura. It has an imposing stature and limitless strength, and it can easily crush its enemies into mincemeat.
Jon was taken aback. This was the first time he had encountered a creature that was over level 20.
The cyclops fish scale beast had three opponents, and they were all elemental creatures. One of them was an ice elemental emitting cold air, while the other two were water demons once of the same species as Jon.
The three elemental creatures had formed an alliance and were working together to deal with the cyclops fish scale beast.
They were all elite-class monsters over level 10, but even with their combined power they were no a match for the cyclops fish scale beast. Under the attack of the cyclops fish scale beast, the three of them could not hold on any longer. They were on the verge of being defeated.
“Swoosh!”
The ice elemental condensed its elemental power to form a long ice arrow that tore through the air and shot towards the cyclops fish scale beast’s eye. It planned to target the monster’s weak spot in an effort to bring about a chance of victory.
However, the cyclops fish scale beast’s body unexpectedly emitted an incredible amount of battle aura, instantly breaking apart the long ice arrow piece by piece. The ice elemental was disappointed.
The remaining two water demons suddenly grew in size and swung their large fists at the cyclops fish scale beast.
However, with the cyclops scale fish beast as their opponent, their power was clearly insufficient. It raised its thick front claws and swung them fiercely. The two water demons were sent flying and then fell to the ground.
Just as the battle’s victor was about to be determined, the system notification rang in Jon’s ears out of the blue.
“Ding! Mission unlocked. Kill Level 21 Elite Cyclops Fish Scales Beast.”
Huh? It was not strange that the mission window to pop up, but it was strange that only a mission window for the cyclops fish scales beast did.
What was the meaning of this? Did the system want Jon to save those three elemental creatures?
“Ice Leap!”
Jon immediately took action. Regardless of whether or not that was the case, he could always think about it after taking that beast down. If after saving them the three elemental creatures still harbored ill will towards him, he would then kill them too.
He used Ice Leap to teleport in front of the cyclops fish scales beast. The four massive ice pillars that spawned from Ice Leap flew towards it, but naturally were blocked by the battle aura covering its body.
“Roar!”
The cyclops fish scale beast seemed to be very interested in the “little guy” that had suddenly appeared. It was raising its foot to stomp on Jon.
“Ice Shield!”
Jon could have used Ice Leap to dodge it, but he wanted to test the strength of the skill that had evolved into Ice Shield, so he used this skill to meet the attack.
“Thump!”
Jon was sent flying backwards by the cyclops fish scale beast’s kick. Its kick had far surpassed his own strength, but the ice shield did not shatter—it blocked the cyclops fish scale beast’s strength.
“Incredible!” Jon praised how strong his skill was. “Now, Ice Leap!”
Jon used Ice Leap to return to the front of the cyclops fish scale beast. His body was six meters above the ground, which was about the same height as that beast’s head.
“Water-Rock-Ice Sword!”
He summoned his icy sword and slashed at its eye.
A huge amount of battle aura surged out of the cyclops fish scale beast’s body and blocked Jon’s water-rock elemental sword.
Jon gradually took the upper hand and retreated as he was pushed back by the battle aura.
“Dual Sword Desire!”
Jon used his Dual Sword Desire, and the icy desire on the sword in his hand instantly doubled. He unleashed his power and blocked the constriction of the battle aura.
“Triple Sword Desire!”
He hadn’t expected that his Dual Sword Desire would only be able to draw a tie versus this monster. Jon no longer hesitated and used his trump card.
The icy desire soared and quickly suppressed the cyclops fish scale beast’s battle aura. Gradually, frost began to form around it.
“Crack…”
After ten minutes of back-and-forth fighting, the icy desire finally took victory over the monster’s battle aura. It turned into a huge ice sculpture.
“Ding! Mission completed. Level 21 Elite Cyclops Fish Scale Beast killed. Level fragment +3,000 obtained. Successfully extracted battle aura type advanced fragment +250 from the target’s body.”
The pleasant sound of the system notification sounded in his ears. Jon had successfully killed the cyclops fish scale beast and obtained the battle aura type advanced fragments in its body.
The sunlight shone on the six-meter-tall ice statue, reflecting the faces of the three elemental creatures and their shocked expressions.
Jon landed back on the ground. The ice crystal armor made a crisp sound as it collided with the ground. The aura on his ice crystal greatsword intimidated all the surrounding creatures. Jon looked over at those three. He had originally wanted to ask them what this place was, but they suddenly lowered their heads in fear. They dared not meet his gaze.
Jon could not help but feel amused. He took the first step and asked, “What is this place? It seems to be enshrouded by some barrier. Is there any way to leave?”
Faced with Jon’s questions, the three elemental creatures looked at each other as if they were discussing who should answer.
In the end, one of the sea monsters mustered up courage and braced itself to respond. “Too much time has passed so even we aren’t sure. Legend has it that there were some deities traveling through the Water Elemental plane, and they casually cut open some space to create this realm on a whim. It’s not a barrier that prevents us from leaving, but rather a spatial blockade. As for the purpose of creating this world was, and whether or not there’s any way to get out, those aren’t matters we know the answer to.”
