Chapter 12: A Kiss

I didn’t know how to restart this interrupted kiss again, so I just sat there like an idiot. Ravi had one hand behind his head and he kept stroking his hair. The atmosphere was awkward.
“Let’s go home,” we both said almost at the same time, and then we were both amused. He had a beautiful smile that was so different from his usual cold expression.
He pressed the switch and the car started. We drove away from the cemetery.
“My mother…”
“Don’t worry. My men have found her. They’ll fly back as soon as possible.”
“How did they find my mother so quickly?”
“We have branches in many states in the United States. Places like Las Vegas have always been a must-have for the Mafia. There are a lot of my men there.”
“Then how did your people take the photo?”
“They hacked into the casinos and hotels’ surveillance systems.”
“You have hackers and a lot of snipers.”
“Yes. Some of them are former FBI agents, some are from the special forces, and some have participated in the Afghan War. They’re all sharpshooters.”
“Wow, you have an ‘army’!”
“Are you afraid of me?”
“I’m a little afraid now.” I looked out the window at the blue sky and felt very relaxed and at ease. My mother and I had left the Diaz family, which had imprisoned us for 13 years. I took a deep breath and leaned my head against the car window.
I didn’t know how long I slept, but I felt the car slow down. My eyelids were heavy, and I couldn’t open my eyes, but I could sense the changes around me. The car finally stopped at a very dark place. It was very quiet. The dim light and the quiet environment made me more sleepy. I heard the car engine being turned off, and the environment instantly became extremely quiet.
Why was there no sound at all? Where was Ravi?
I suddenly felt afraid and immediately opened my eyes.
I saw Ravi smiling at me.
“I think this is a good time,” Ravi said with a smile. “There’s no traffic light here, and my phone is off.” He picked up the phone and waved it in front of me before putting it down.
I felt my face flush.
Ravi unbuckled his seat belt and turned around to help me unbuckle it. His face was so close to mine that I could smell the musky scent on him. He touched my face with one hand, then closed his eyes and slowly moved his lips closer to mine. He pressed his lips to mine. His lips were soft and his kiss was gentle. I liked the way he kissed me softly in that careful and gentle way, like he was afraid to scare me. I closed my eyes and opened my lips slightly to kiss him back. I felt him smile, then continue kissing me. I lowered my head and ended the long kiss.
“Do you like it?” Ravi looked at me. His eyes were filled with passion.
“Yes.” I looked into Ravi’s blue eyes and couldn’t help but smile. “Where is this?”
“The garage.” Ravi got out of the car and walked around to my side to open the door for me. It was only when I got out of the car that I realized there were a dozen cars parked side by side here.
“Do you like to drive?”
“I don’t know how to drive.”
“I’ll teach you when I have time.”
“I think I’ll be a good student.”
Ravi took my hand and held mine as we walked out of the garage. We walked forward on the path, then turned left and reached the front door of the villa. It was only then that I realized the villa was connected to the garage. I had never walked down this path before.
Ravi led me into his room. He took off his shirt and tossed it on the bed. This seemed to be his habit. As soon as we got to the bedroom, he would take off his shirt and strip himself naked. He took my phone out of the drawer of his nightstand and handed it to me.
“Thanks.” I took the phone and happily prepared to return to my room.
Ravi hugged me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder. “Get some rest, Irina,” he whispered in my ear.
I turned and kissed him on the cheek..
