The Mafia’s Bride Snatcher - Chapter 35
Chapter 35 New Leader
Ravi’s perspective:
Sara had become the new head of the Diaz family’s Mafia. Irina’s father was dead, and I had killed her brother. All that was left was an older sister who had never come into contact with the Mafia, so Sara was in the public eye. I wasn’t sure if she had changed sides, but I knew that she was a powerful person and not the weak mother that Irina thought she was.
“Boss, there’s news,” Ivan said to me.
“What is it?”
“The three drug factories of the Diaz family and dozens of drug warehouses across the country were taken over by the FBI. Some of their drug makers and drug dealers were killed, and some were arrested. In short, they were all wiped out.” I didn’t expect Sara to act so quickly and provide the police with such precise information as soon as she came to power. It seemed that this woman hadn’t changed her mind. She was still a loyal undercover agent of the police. However, it was difficult for such a big move not to arouse the suspicion of the other members of their family. However, since she was determined to uproot their own drug-making network, I believed that she must have thought of a backup plan and how to deal with the other members of the family.
Anyway, this is undoubtedly good news for me. If all the drugs in the Diaz family are seized, then the Rodriguez family’s heroin will occupy more than 90% of the market and almost monopolize the entire heroin market. Then, a price increase would be imperative.
“Tell your drug dealers that from today onwards, there will be a limited supply of heroin and the price will increase by 30%.”
“Roger that, boss.”
“Boss, there’s news.” Roy knocked and entered. “We found Arthur’s trail.”
“Where is he?”
“His image appeared in both Alaska and Florida.”
“Alaska? Florida? At the same time?”
“Yes, boss, at the same time. I didn’t believe it at first, but when I saw the video they took, I had to believe it.”
Roy showed me the video. It was indeed at almost the same time. My father’s image appeared in two places tens of thousands of kilometers apart. One was of him enjoying the Florida sun, and the other was of him watching the snow in Alaska. I observed the two videos carefully. There has to be something fishy going on. “Pause here,” I ordered. I carefully compared the two images and determined my father’s true location. “He’s in Alaska.”
“Are you sure?” Roy asked.
Ivan smiled at the screen, then patted Roy on the shoulder.
Roy was still confused. “These two are clearly the same person.”
“The facial features are indeed similar, but the body betrays him,” Ivan explained.
“I understand.” Realization dawned on Ivan. “This person wears a watch on his right hand, which means he’s left-handed, but Arthur is right-handed.”
“Bingo.”
“So who is this person in Florida?”
“It’s just a substitute.”
“In other words, he realized we were following him?”
‘Not necessarily. Maybe this is his way of confusing the police. What do we do now, boss?’ Ivan asked me.
“Change the people. Go to Alaska and continue to follow him. See what he’s doing there. I don’t believe he just went to see the snow.”
“Roger that, boss.”
There was so much good news today that it was worth celebrating. I arranged my work and then personally drove to Irina’s school to pick her up for dinner. Soon, I arrived at Irina’s school and parked the car by the side of the road. I got out of the car, leaned against the hood of the sports car, and called Irina.
“Hey, baby, did anyone ask you out today?”
“I hope someone asks me out.”
“I can make your hopes come true.”
“See you at the school gate, then.”
I leaned against the hood and crossed my arms over my chest. I looked at the group of young people on the campus walking together in groups. Some of them were holding books, and some of them were holding balls. Some of them were good friends, and some of them were couples. If I had any regrets, it would be that I didn’t complete my college. So, when Irina suggested going back to school to continue school, I didn’t hesitate. I didn’t want her to have any regrets. When I was 18, I got into West Point. Mom was so happy that she gave me a sports car. I liked it a lot. But a year later, Mom passed away. I couldn’t figure out why Mom would kill herself. I thought there must be a conspiracy here, so I quit West Point and join the family Mafia. It was easier for me to investigate Mom’s death by getting involved in everything in the Mafia.
I lit a cigarette, took a drag, and exhaled through my nose. I stood in the afterglow of the setting sun while waiting for the girl I loved.
Suddenly, a sports car stopped in front of me. A tall woman with exquisite makeup got out of the car. She was wearing a short dress that revealed her long legs as she walked in my direction.
