At noon the next day, Jing Yan personally drove to the university to pick He Miao up.
The quality inspection team had already come to a conclusion about the renovation company’s cutting corners. The finance department had also found out that a portion of the funds in the account had gone into Tao Xin’s pocket after several rounds of turnover.
In the office, Xu Ling looked at Tao Xin, who was sitting in a chair in a daze, and said sarcastically, “Sister Tao, it seems like we won’t have the chance to work together in the future.”
“How could this be? Why would they suspect me?” At this moment, Tao Xin was completely flustered. The police were already downstairs and would come up to take her away soon. By then, her life would be ruined!
Chen Zhao had been sent out by Jing Yan to negotiate with other companies in the morning. When he came back, he heard that something had happened to Tao Xin. He walked into the office in a panic and saw the woman sitting in the chair, crying.
As soon as Tao Xin saw him, it was as if she had found her last life-saving line. She grabbed onto his clothes and refused to let go. “Brother Chen, please save me! They’re taking me away!”
Chen Zhao did not expect things to develop so quickly. It seemed that President Jing had already planned this and deliberately kept it a secret from Chen Zhao. His purpose was to investigate this matter thoroughly and punish all those involved.
He patted Tao Xin’s back. His mind was in a mess, and he could not think of a suitable way to help her. He could only scratch his hair in frustration. “Tao Xin, they said that you pocketed money, colluded with the renovation company to cut corners, and the amount exceeded hundreds of thousands. Is this true?”
Tao Xin’s arm that was holding him stiffened, and she cried out, “Of course it’s not true! Brother Chen, don’t you know what kind of person I am? I remember every single detail of Miss He’s account, and there’s absolutely no mistake. I don’t understand why she’s targeting me like this, yesterday and today. How did I offend her? Brother Chen, please help me. I don’t want to go to jail. I was framed!”
Chen Zhao was also in a dilemma. He had just returned to the office and did not know of the quality inspection report and the results of the financial department’s investigation. So, when he thought about He Miao’s confrontation with Tao Xin yesterday, he was easily led astray by her. He subconsciously thought that He Miao hated Tao Xin and set up this whole situation personally, just waiting for Tao Xin to fall into her trap.
However, no matter how much she hated Tao Xin, she did not have to send her to prison.
Chen Zhao felt strange. He comforted her and asked softly, “Think carefully, what else have you done to offend Miss He? Or perhaps she’s mistaken and someone else is framing you?”
Thinking of this, Chen Zhao unconsciously glanced at Xu Ling, who had a disdainful look on her face. He immediately thought of another possibility and asked with a frown, “How much did you take part in this?”
Xu Ling’s eyes widened in shock. She did not expect that this man, who was usually very decisive in his work, would become so muddled in front of Tao Xin. She was speechless and pouted. “Brother Chen Zhao, the only interaction I had with Miss He was yesterday. How much could I have been involved in?”
Chen Zhao immediately denied this ridiculous thought. Just as he was about to apologize to her, the woman’s expression suddenly changed. She pointed at Xu Ling’s nose and screamed, “It must be you, you b*tch! In order to take my position and become Miss He’s head secretary, you framed me by dirty means. It must be you! Did you team up with He Miao? Or did she instruct you to do this?”
Xu Ling was so angry that she almost laughed at her baseless accusation. She curled her lips coldly and had no intention of leaving Tao Xin any face at all. “Tao Xin, think before you speak. If you don’t want others to know, don’t you understand that you shouldn’t have done it? Now that the matter has been exposed, you’re really good at pushing the blame to others. Unfortunately, no one has taken the blame for you. You’re just reaping what you’ve sown!”
Tao Xin immediately hid in the man’s arms and cried. Chen Zhao could not take it anymore and growled in a low voice, “Enough! Don’t say anymore. When the police come, I’ll ask them clearly. Otherwise, I won’t let them take you away from me!”
His intention was to comfort Tao Xin, but he did not expect his words to make Tao Xin tremble even more in his arms. He immediately looked down suspiciously at the woman’s tearful face and asked, “Tao Xin, tell me the truth. Have you done anything?”
Tao Xin wanted to shake her head, but the next second, the elevator doors suddenly opened with a “Ding!” and a group of people came out, completely crushing her last hope.
Jing Yan held He Miao’s hand tightly, followed by the police from the investigation team. They held an arrest warrant approved by their superiors. Tao Xin had embezzled a huge amount of money this time, and they would never spare her just because she was Jing Yan’s secretary.
