Chapter 48: 048 Vent His Anger on Jun Ci
As for this matter that Gu Lu had brought up, Jun Ci had actually thought about it before.
But she had always been an easy-going person. If not for her goal, she wouldn’t bother thinking about other matters.
Since Gu Lu had brought it up, Jun Ci couldn’t pretend that she hadn’t heard it.
“Gu Lu, you’re saying that Zhang Changming might have taken me in because he benefitted in some way?”
Jun Ci could recognize the main point in an instant.
“This explains why the Zhang family would give Your Highness such a name, as well as how they managed to make a fortune all of a sudden. However, this matter happened too long ago, and the information network at that time was not developed. Gu Lu can control this world’s current network, but Gu Lu can’t investigate into the past so quickly.”
“But I suggest that Your Highness find that Fu Cuihua and ask her.”
Gu Lu was an intelligent life that could serve Jun Ci’s every need.
So it could find any way for Jun Ci to get out of this predicament.
And looking into this matter also meant finding a clue regarding Jun Ci’s past history.
Jun Ci rubbed her chin, “Actually…”
She didn’t really care about this body’s original parents.
But it seemed like the Zhang family might not only have treated the former Jun Ci like a slave, they might have taken advantage of her too.
With that thought, Jun Ci wasn’t very happy.
If her interests were at stake, Jun Ci had to care about it.
It seemed like she had to go look for Fu Cuihua.
Zhang Changming would never tell Jun Ci about it, and Fu Cuihua was easier to work with.
After Jun Ci carefully thought about it, at noon, she headed over to the hospital where Zhang Changming was located.
*
Zhang Changming had only been admitted to the hospital yesterday when he was thrown on the side of the road like a dead dog. It was all thanks to some kind people who saw him and took him to the hospital before informing Fu Cuihua.
Zhang Changming hadn’t recognized who had hit him and simply pushed the blame onto Jun Ci.
Which was why Zhang Nian called the police to report Jun Ci.
“Are you a piece of garbage, you can’t even handle a simple matter properly?”
Even with his head covered with herbal plasters, Zhang Changming was still maliciously scolding Fu Cuihua.
The bed next to him hosted a child and a pair of young parents. At this moment, when they heard Zhang Changming howling, they rolled their eyes in annoyance.
But they didn’t dare to argue with this rough hoodlum.
Fu Cuihua was submissive and looked down like a timid mouse, making Zhang Nian angry too.
Zhang Nian retorted, “Dad, why are you scolding mom? How did we know that the police wouldn’t do anything and simply ask a few questions before directly left? They didn’t even provide an explanation. The police these days are so incompetent.”
Zhang Nian had gotten a fright from Jun Ci’s stare just now, but she hadn’t even calmed down yet before she starting scolding even the police.
“Tell me, what happened?”
Zhang Changming glared at his timid wife, but he didn’t dare to be unpleasant towards his daughter.
“Who knew that brat would be so lucky? Dad, tell me the truth, was it really that brat who beat you up?”
There was even someone there to testify that Jun Ci wasn’t the one who beat him up, so it was hard to settle this matter, even for Zhang Nian.
Zhang Changming’s face reddened, but his tone became weaker, “If… if not that brat, who else could it be?”
The person who beat him up seemed like a big shot, and he couldn’t afford to offend him.
So he had to vent his anger on Jun Ci.
