Chapter 353: Chapter 294, Amber Pendant
The man raised his hands high and carefully made his way down.
Qi Hancai gave the other person a look.
He wore a leather jacket and looked disheveled, resembling a refugee fleeing a disaster.
Qi Hancai continued, “Have everyone come out and submit to inspection.”
“Oh, sure!”
The man turned around, signaling for the people in the other vans to get out as well.
One by one, survivors emerged from the other vans.
Most were men, with only a few women, and everyone’s condition seemed poor, some dirty and emaciated.
“Go inspect their vehicles,” Qi Hancai continued.
A few people went over and began to inspect the interior of the vans.
Qi Hancai then asked, “Is anyone injured?”
“No,” they all answered in succession.
This was easy to identify, as the virus’s effect on humans was rapid.
If they could stand there for a while, not turning into zombies, then there was no problem.
After a moment of silence, Qi Hancai’s gaze returned to the first man, “Are you their leader?”
“Erm, I suppose so!”
“Where have you come from? What are you doing here?”
The sleazy man answered again, “We came from the Great Golden Bridge side. Our refuge was attacked by a horde of zombies, so we made our way over here.”
“You people managed to avoid the swarm of zombies and escape here?” Qi Hancai said.
“We’d been preparing for a long time. Originally, our plan was to head towards the outskirts of the city, but the roads were severely blocked. We detoured until we ended up here.” The man continued cautiously after glancing at Qi Hancai, “Thanks for saving us; otherwise, we might have all died here.”
Qi Hancai nodded, not doubting their explanation.
Most other shelters were still just scraping by, trying to avoid the hordes. The auto repair shop might be the only one capable of capturing and killing zombies out in the open.
Qi Hancai nodded and went on, “Now you have two options. The first is to join our shelter, where we will provide you with food and security, but you will also need to work. The second option is to leave on your own, continue towards the city outskirts to live by yourselves. Don’t discuss what you see and hear today outside of here.”
“Um, we’d like to discuss it among ourselves,” the man said.
“Fine, but make it quick.”
The survivors huddled together and began whispering among themselves.
It wasn’t long before they came back and the lead man said, “We’d like to join you?”
Qi Hancai nodded, “Go over there and register. If you have any technical skills or special abilities, mention them. You might receive better treatment.”
“Good, good, thank you,” the man expressed his gratitude and then asked, “What should we call you?”
“Qi Hancai!”
The people were taken aback, all of them looking up at her in unison.
The man asked, “Are you the leader of Dongan Village?”
Qi Hancai shook her head, “We’ve joined the auto repair shop. If you know about Dongan Village, you should have heard about the auto repair shop as well.”
The expressions of the people became animated again.
The auto repair shop and Dongan Village had merged, which explained their strength.
The survivors continued towards the registration area, still discussing in low voices.
“We’re joining the auto repair shop; that’s the biggest shelter, isn’t it?”
“It’s probably just a bit less than Flame God Shelter, but with Dongan Village merging, it shouldn’t be much difference now.”
“How could that be, does Flame God Shelter have a Flying Dragon? Can they confront the zombie horde head-on?”
“Have you seen it? How do you know they can’t?”
During the registration, people continued to discuss.
Anyone with sense knew the benefits of joining a large shelter.
A safe living environment and sufficient food are the most important things right now.
And these people, in Qi Hancai’s view, were among the luckiest. Many more wished to join, but that would depend on whether King Yama and Li Yahong agreed.
Her gaze left the newly arrived survivors.
She reported over the radio.
Then continued to direct people, “Move their cars to the side so they don’t block the road.”
…
On the battlefield.
The fight still raged on.
The few vans that had arrived brought more zombies than usual.
The Skeleton Flying Dragon repeatedly hurled Iron Bombs, bombing the rear of the zombie horde incessantly.
After each loud explosion and thick smoke, a large vacuum would appear.
At the same time, the skeletons and the zombies fiercely battled each other.
The zombies tore and bit without cease, while the skeletons in the Spear Array kept retracting and thrusting their long spears.
More zombies fell, and new zombies pushed forward to fill the gaps.
Bang, bang, bang~!
Two Mutated Zombies flung aside the zombies blocking them and leaped into the ranks of the skeletons.
A swath of skeletons was knocked down, or outright trampled underfoot.
“Juye, Big Guy, Second Chunk, you guys go take out those two big ones, but don’t smash their heads,” Wu Heng ordered.
A few Mutated Skeletons behind him immediately sprang into action.
One charged forward, knocking the two Mutated Zombies to the ground.
The huge fists began pounding ferociously at various parts of their bodies.
Despite their struggles, they couldn’t resist the onslaught of the Mutated Skeletons, getting pummeled and rolled around, their muscles smashed and flattened.
“Boss, we’re out of Iron Bombs,” Qiangzi’s voice came through the radio.
The Flying Dragon had been dropping Solid Iron Bullets.
All that was left had been thrown out.
“Look around for some rocks to see if we can drop them from above.”
