Chapter 23: Not Planned

In the supervision control room of Second Military School of Alliance in Alliance Stars.
On the mimicry planet, there were only around 1,000 participants left out of 10,000 within three days.
Majority of these remaining participants were short on nutritive solutions.
Soon, they would give up because of hunger.
But, before that happened, they might get eliminated by their competitors and end up leaving ahead of time.
In the supervision control room, the three mentors had a full view of the entire process
through hundreds of screens.
Jin Ling was focusing upon the progress of the examination. In one of the camera frames, she spotted an unexpected silhouette of a girl.
The chubby mentor, Hao Pi, burst out into laughter at the sight of the girl on the screen.
He said straightforwardly, “What a dramatic person! She might have been a little tanned earlier but her facial features were pretty and exquisite. Now, oh my, her skin is totally burnt, and her face is swollen like a pig head. What a hideous sight!”
Though he was uttering cruel words, his thoughts were actually quite different.
“If she passes the examination, do you think that she will be a terrible representative of our school in the aspect of appearance?” Hao Pi said with a teasing tone.
Despite his deriding words, the other two mentors understood clearly that he liked this girl more and more.
It seemed he was very sure that the girl on the screen would be able to pass the examination and become their school’s student.
Jin Ling ignored Hao Pi’s words, while Cheng Gong continued to counter Hao Pi at every point.
“It has only been three days and she is already messed up. Look at her, she doesn’t have any nutritive solutions left. Let’s see how much longer she can go on for.”
Cheng Gong had just finished his words, when he saw the girl stepping out of the desert and arriving at a totally different environment than before.
It was a place full of green, thick trees. The jungles were dense and everything looked so lively, as if spring had arrived suddenly.
Lan Jiao let out a sigh of relief.
She had finally stepped out of the desert!
She had solved the most pressing issue for now – water shortage.
Lan Jiao knew that they were on a mimicry planet where the examination took place.
The mimicry planet had different environments, and desert was just part of it. As long as the participants were able to walk out of it, they would find themselves in a different surrounding.
There had been nothing apart from the vast, yellow sand in the desert.
Hot air blew past by them every now and then. Due to this, people tended to get delusions about their surroundings, thinking that they were trapped in the sand with no respite.
Leaving the desert was a very tough challenge for most people.
But for strong willpower and careful observation, many people would remain trapped in the desert already.
In the supervision control room of Second Military School on Alliance Stars.
The moment Cheng Gong saw the scene, he could not help but spring up from the sofa and focus solely on the small screen that showed the girl from Planet Trash.
Only her screen showed the green patch among hundreds of screens.
None of the other participants had been able to get rid of the desert at this point.
Desert was the first section of the examination. The plan had been to announce the exit from the desert on the fifth day of the exam.
The participants were supposed to pass the examination after they left the desert, and the period given to them lasted only three days.
By the 8th day, all those who failed to get out of the desert were eliminated.
Today was only the third day, long before the announcement was made. But there was already someone who managed to escape the desert. This was far beyond what Cheng Gong had expected!
How ridiculous!
As per Cheng Gong’s prediction, even a capable person like Zhao Qingyan would not be able to get out of the desert within such a short period.
Moreover, this girl from Planet Trash must have been thinking about how to get rid of the desert right from the beginning, otherwise she would not have reached this place without a firm goal.
The moment Cheng Gong saw the girl from Planet Trash leaving the desert, he not only showed a look of surprise, but also relief.
“I told you, this girl thinks big.” Hao Pi could not conceal his appreciative tone.
“I believed that she is someone who thinks big, but now, I realize that I have looked down on her because of where she is from. She is more capable than any other participants in terms of advance planning.”
Hao Pi kept reiterating the point about his correct judgement regarding this girl to the two mentors.
“When everyone was seeking competitors and robbing others of their nutritive solutions, she had already left the battlefield and reached the safe zone.” Jin Ling was quite surprised about the situation as well.
Just like Cheng Gong, she had never expected that anyone would complete the plan ahead of time.
“I believe that we will have to ask the Dean about ending the desert section ahead of time.”
What Jin Ling said was echoed by the other mentors. Hao Pi and Cheng Gong exchanged a look as they nodded at Jin Ling. It was not a usual occurrence that they could reach a compromise so easily.
In the supervision control room, Jin Ling walked to the other side of the supervision control room. She turned on the Light Head on her wrist and made a call to Dean Ferrero.
…
Lan Jiao, who was faraway on the mimicry planet, finally found the water source in the forest.
The reason why she was able to walk out of the desert and find the water resource was due to her lifestyle as a stay at home girl.
She barely went outdoors on the previous planet. All she did every day was to enrich her life by soaking in more knowledge and information to ward off boredom.
Lan Jiao loved to read and surf online. She had vast interests and knowledge in almost every aspect.
She had once watched a program about surviving in the wild, and learned about how to escape the desert.
It was very easy to get rid of the desert. All she needed to do was to walk in the direction of the wind, alongside the sand dunes whilst paying attention to the situation below her feet.
It was much easier to find water resources in a forest than in a desert.
She could try to catch the sound of water flowing or feel the humid air. Even by smelling the ground and the smell of watergrass brought in by the wind, she would be able to find water quickly.
As the mimicry planet was specifically used for the examination conducted by the Second Military School, the environment here was pure and unpolluted.
Lan Jiao felt that the tormenting heatblast and the parched throat were taken care of when she drank the sweet spring water.
It was like reviving from death in a game with the so-called ‘Blue Drugs’.
What a wonderful feeling!
