Chapter 31: S-Level

Kong Ximeng was reconciled to the defeat but no one came to rob them of their signal buttons so they avoided being disqualified.
It was a lucky result for them!
He believed that as long as he had a chance, he would take back his nutritive solutions that he had just lost.
Kong Ximeng and Fey had just left when Lan Jiao saw Zhao Qingyan hopping down from the tree. She pulled away the sword nailed to the trunk and put it back into the sheath which was hanging around her waist.
Zhao Qingyan frowned. She was on the verge of saying something.
“What is it?” Lan Jiao got a bit confused.
Since yesterday, she had not seen Zhao Qingyan show such a serious look.
“Fey is not a normal person. His spirit power has reached S-level, and he is able to influence others’ mind without them noticing it. That is why they only lost nutritive solutions and managed to save their signal buttons.”
Lan Jiao agreed with her thoughts.
She was a bystander, and had noticed these minute details just like Zhao Qingyan.
But Lan Jiao had not expected Fey to be a talent with a spirit power of S-level!
As far as Lan Jiao was concerned, anyone with S-level in either physical quality or spirit power was extremely talented and should go to the top schools in Alliance.
These people were going to become the pivotal trainees after they were accepted in the school.
She did not expect that after being away from Planet Trash for just a week, she had run into two geniuses who were at S-level.
One was Zhao Qingyan with an S-level physical quality whilst the other was Fey with S-level spirit power.
Suddenly, she thought of her double B-level physical quality and spirit power.
She realized that she was nothing in front of them.
But Lan Jiao did not want to give up.
She was weak, not for any other reason except for the fact that the original host was always distressed.
When she entered the Second Military School, she was definitely going to work hard to raise her abilities.
She might not be an innate genius like the others, but she could stand firmly with the help of knowledge and technology.
She had understood that only the powerful ones in this world were able to enjoy a superior life.
For the sake of her cozy future, she was going to make herself stronger and more capable and avoid getting bullied.
Lan Jiao was having a smooth time being with Zhao Qingyan all these days.
Zhao Qingyan was responsible for getting nutritive solutions from others who crossed them whilst Lan Jiao started her task of picking and collecting different things.
There were many fungi available in the wet forest. Lan Jiao had found more than 30 different kinds!
Some were edible, some were poisonous. Lan Jiao also collected some dangerous, shining ones for emergency purposes.
When the poisonous mushrooms were sundried, they became wrinkled and lost the shine.
They would not be discerned by ordinary eyes when bunched up with the harmless mushrooms.
During these days, Lan Jiao was protected by the capable Zhao Qingyan, and in return, Zhao Qingyan got to eat delicious food apart from consuming just nutritive solutions.
Mushroom soup was cooked every single day. All the star jellies had been used up but Lan Jiao had not yet found another grassland where star jellies grew.
Thankfully, they were lucky enough to find some wood ears which could be a replacement for the fungus while making soup.
Controlling food provisions might have been a strict rule of this examination, hence there were no fruit trees found among the plants in the forest.
All that could be seen were just fungi that had grown because of the environment. These things had not been a part of the original plan.
Moreover, most people did not eat these.
Lan Jiao had discovered that there were no animals in either of the zones.
Zhao Qingyan told her that this small-sized mimicry planet did not come to existence in a natural way. It was built by the Second Military School, just for the purpose of the entry examinations.
Hence, everything was man-made or transplanted, so it was normal that there were no animals here.
Also, none of the animals in Interstellar were mild-tempered. The weak animals had died ages ago due to the evolution of the creations. Even a rat or a rabbit could kill people with just a bite. Case in point were those rot-eating rats on Planet Trash!
But rabbits as well? Lan Jiao could not believe her ears.
She had heard a proverb saying that rabbits would bite people too when they were cornered. But she had never expected that the saying would prove to be true one day.
Lan Jiao and Zhao Qingyan had barely run into any participants during the past few days.
When a large number of people was eliminated from the desert zone, many people chose to leave the entry examination even though they still had the nutritive solutions.
The remaining participants had limited food resources.
So, the number of participants was reduced in the forest zone after one week had passed.
Zhao Qingyan turned on the Light Head and checked the data, seeing that there were only 159 people left.
There was still half a month before the examination ended. The number had been reduced to 159 from the original 10,000.
They wondered how many would remain at the end of the examination.
Lan Jiao had no idea how many participants were accepted by the Second Military School during the previous years, but she was sure that there would not be too many this year.
In the supervision control room of Second Military School on Alliance Stars.
There was only one mentor, Jin Ling, left here.
The examination lasted for one month, so the mentors could not possibly stay here, watching the screens every single minute.
So the situation of the first few days of the examination might be a bit distinguished. But after this period, those who remain tend to have more or less the same behaviors and the situation was just predictable. What they needed to do was to eliminate the competitors.
The only new thing that was taking place was – new eliminations.
The three mentors would be present when a new test was announced. Currently, they were taking turns in monitoring the situation.
The remaining 159 participants were now idling around in the forest zone, after finishing the cruel test in the desert.
Jin Ling wondered if the participants felt that their examination level had been easy, especially when she saw the girl from Planet Trash having a leisure time.
But this was not going to last forever. The second test was around the corner.
