Chapter 14: Her Phone Lock Number Was His Birthday

They seemed to stand on two opposite extremes. Shen Qinghuan stood at the peak of the pyramid, while Lu Ziheng himself was a snail. It was an extremely difficult task for the snail to even arrive at the pyramid. How could it possibly contemplate making such an arduous climb?
The moonlight concealed the young man’s dispirited expression.
In fact, when Shen Qinghuan suggested taking the train home, Lu Ziheng did not admit that, because his family was located in the suburbs, he had spent his three years in A School living at the school.
He wasn’t sure why either, but he could not bring himself to reject her. He was worried that she would cry if he refused her.
It was 90 minutes before the dormitory’s curfew.
Lu Ziheng took in a deep breath and felt the heavy sensation in the pit of his stomach dispersing a little.
Although the high school entrance examinations had ended, and most students had already moved out, because Lu Ziheng’s home was further away, the school took his good grades into consideration and gave him an exemption to delay his leave by a few days.
After all, he still needed her phone to scan the electric scooter later. He would come up with ways to return it to Shen Qinghuan afterwards.

Lu Ziheng stared at her phone screen, realizing that he had neglected to consider that all smartphones had this function.
At this time, Lu Ziheng stood in a parking spot for the electric scooter that wasn’t too far away from the school; however, he did not know the passcode for her phone and had no way of locking the scooter. As a result, he was left in an awkward position.
All of a sudden, he received a call from an unknown number through her phone, and in a moment of panic, Lu Ziheng answered the call.
“Hello?”
Shen Qinghuan heard Lu Ziheng’s voice and relaxed to smile: “So my phone is with you.”
“I’ll go to your home tomorrow morning and deliver it to you!” Lu Ziheng responded quickly.
“050818.”
“En?”
Shen Qinghuan did not think twice as she read a string of numbers to him.
“It’s my phone’s passcode.”
Lu Ziheng tapped on her phone screen with his thin, long fingers. The phone was then unlocked. Even so, he did not have the habit of peeking at other people’s phones, so after locking the electric scooter with her phone, he tapped back onto the call screen.
Shen Qinghuan had ended the call a long time ago. It was only much later, after the fact, that Lu Ziheng realized that 050818 was his birthday.
Was it a coincidence?
But why would it be…
So coincidental?
Back at the barbeque store, she had ordered all of his favourite food and drinks without leaving anything out. Now it turns out that her phone’s lock number was also his birthday.
Lu Ziheng felt that the gulf between them was slowly being filled up by something unknown. As he came to learn of this new secret, he was overwhelmed with joy.
There was someone else who had yet to move out of the dormitory.
His name was Li Mingkang. His bunk bed was located right above Lu Ziheng’s, and his family’s circumstances were much better than his.
When Lu Ziheng came in, Li Mingkang was about to turn in. “Hey, you scared me to death. I thought you were sleeping over at Qin Muzhi’s place tonight.”
Li Mingkang’s grades were good enough for him to be awarded scholarships, yet behind those grades, he had invested an unimaginable amount of hardwork and effort.
Thus, Li Mingkang had always been jealous of Lu Ziheng. This was because Lu Ziheng always scored better than him without having to work very hard.
Lu Ziheng did not respond to Li Mingkang’s words.
He bent down to pick up his own pail and headed to the bathroom to wash up.
Cold water ran down Lu Ziheng’s features, slowly bringing him back from today’s dream.
However, when Lu Ziheng returned to the dorm room, he saw that Li Mingkang was holding onto the secret he had hid under his pillow.
“You sure are capable, Old Lu.” Li Mingkang crossed his legs as he sighed. “This phone costs at least a thousand plus dollars. You came back so late. Don’t tell me you went to steal this phone?”
“Return it!”
The phone belonged to Shen Qinghuan, and Lu Ziheng did not wish for anyone to dirty it with their hands.
He tossed his pail aside and quickly snatched the phone back from Li Mingkang.
Even though he had shared a dorm room for three years, this was still Li Mingkang’s first time witnessing Lu Ziheng’s anger.
