Chapter 13: They Got Lucky

Later, Elisa escorted Zhan Qi and Fu Qing to Dawn Winery and publicly declared that Fu Qing would become Apu Kingdom’s Goodwill Ambassador.
She entrusted Zhan Qi and Fu Qing with shared authority for Apu Kingdom’s foreign trade negotiations. They would be in charge of all the business dealings and logistics.
To congratulate the charming couple, everyone raised their glasses and drank a toast.
“With your help, Mr. and Mrs. Zhan, I’m sure the trade between the two countries will prosper, and may our new undertaking be a complete success.”
Most of the guests who graced the event were corporate moguls, all hoping to secure a foreign trade deal with Apu Kingdom. Now that the princess had made the announcement, the business magnates had to curry favor with the couple, wanting to take part in the profit-sharing.
Meanwhile, Zhan Yuv walked over and patted Zhan Qi on the shoulder to express his support and satisfaction.
“Way to go, Qi. You did a good job.”
“Thank you, Dad,” he replied proudly.
“I owe it to this gorgeous lady right here,” Zhan Qi said as he drew Fu Qing closer to him.
“You should certainly give her a hefty reward.”
Zhan Yuv looked at Fu Qing with pride and affection in his eyes. He had expected his oldest and middle sons to be the primary victors in this trade. However, it came as a complete surprise when his youngest son nabbed the opportunity.
But the turn of events didn’t seem to bother him. He was fine with it as long as one of the Zhan family members was still in charge of the foreign trade.
In his heart, Zhan Yuv felt pleased and proud. He lingered for a while, casually chatting with Zhan Qi and Fu Qing while sipping sparkling wine. The father and son seemed to get along well, but this was not at all a delightful sight for some people.
Zhan Cheng slammed his wineglass on the table and locked his gaze on his wife Li Ying, who was sitting beside him.
“Take a good view of Zhan Qi’s wife, and then look at yourself. Why don’t you socialize with other people? Since we arrived, all you do is eat, drink, and look around.”
At that moment, Li Ying lowered her head and bit her lip hard in indignation after being scolded by him in front of everyone. His words brought the sting of tears to her eyes.
“How come you’re so upset over your wife? Lighten up, bro. Not everyone has the good luck that Zhan Qi has for having such a good and helpful wife.”
Zhan Leng suddenly showed up and tapped Zhan Cheng’s shoulder with a lecherous expression in his eyes.
This time, Zhan Qi would have to thank his lucky stars. His wife fell into the water and was able to save Apu Kingdom’s princess from drowning.
Zhan Leng could only hope that it was his wife, not Fu Qing, who came to her rescue.
Zhan Leng glanced toward Wang Lian as he mulled over this thought. She quickly understood his expression and sighed snugly.
“Actually, I’m quite concerned about Fu Qing. She’s just recently got back from the countryside, but she’s already stepping into the position of a goodwill ambassador. I’m not even confident she truly knows basic courtesy when dealing with dignitaries and diplomats. Furthermore, cross-border transactions, particularly between international regions, could be cumbersome. I’m not sure if they’ll be up for the challenge.”
Zhan Cheng’s eyes shone as soon as she was done talking.
“Sister, you have a point. Thank you for the heads-up!”
Zhan Leng nodded in exchange as he looked at him. The two brothers rose and headed to one of the winery’s corners.
“Zhan Leng, we both know that the princess mandates the strategic plan for this foreign trade business, and her direct involvement is critical to its success. If some problem occurs, the princess will be held personally responsible. What if anything happens to her? Will the business continue to thrive?”
After he finished speaking stringently, Zhan Cheng flexed his fingers.
“I know you have a few connections in the eastern district. Why don’t you, I mean, we, work collaboratively?”
Zhan Leng revealed a steely glow in his eyes as he smirked.
“He’s just an acquaintance, and we’re not particularly close. However, if the price is right, he’ll do whatever we ask.”
“If that’s the case, then…”
The instant the two exchanged glances, an instantaneous collusion was established. That night, Jin Hu, the gang lord of eastern district, received a cryptic message.
“Kidnap the princess.”
In the meantime, Zhan Cheng’s attention was drawn to Fu Qing, who was conversing and giggling with the princess.
“Enjoy your freedom while it lasts. You won’t be able to keep that smile on your face for long.”
Zhan Qi was entertaining CEOs of other big firms and discussing the bid after the party ended. Fu Qing smiled and waved as she walked by his group on her way out of the winery to accompany Elisa .
“Are you traveling back to your country, Princess?”
“No — at least not for now.”
Elisa grinned as she wrinkled up her nose. “Are you up for some after-party with me? I have a manor in the western suburbs, and I’m heading there now.”
The two of them got along quite well with each other. Fu Qing smiled back and nodded.. “Let’s go!”
