Chapter 25: She Wanted to Help Him
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
Without Zhan Qi by her side, Fu Qing didn’t sleep well at all that night.
A nightmare had woken her up in the middle of the night. In the dream, Zhan Qi was hit mercilessly by a hooligan in a police uniform. The hooligan brandished an iron rod, and the sound of metal hitting skin made Fu Qing flinch. She screamed in shock, but she couldn’t make a sound.
As she was trying to scream, she woke up from her dream and felt cold sweat all over her body.
Surely, this dream was a premonition. She felt the need to do something to help him.
What could she do? Suddenly, she remembered that her belongings were taken away by the police officers. She knew she could seize the opportunity to gather information about those police officers. After all, this was the least she could do for Zhan Qi!
The next morning, Fu Qing informed Uncle Zhang that she was going to the police station before she drove the car.
Fu Qing had arrived way before official working hours, so the police station was not even open yet. She stayed in the car and observed her surroundings, including where the CCTVs were.
Finally, it was 9AM. Police officers started to enter the police station and the lights in the station were turned on. Seeing this, Fu Qing started to head into the station and acted as though she was looking for someone.
The police officer on duty noticed her and asked, “Who are you looking for?”
“I’m the victim who was kidnapped the day before yesterday. My belongings were confiscated as evidence. I’m here to retrieve them.”
The police officer merely glanced at her without a word. Then, he said, “Show me your ID card, please.”
Fu Qing obediently took out her ID card from her purse.
The police officer ran a quick search on the computer, before picking up the walkie-talkie. Then, he called his colleagues to bring her belongings.
While he went to retrieve the items, Fu Qing pretended to look around the police station curiously. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to find the blind spot of the surveillance cameras.
Luckily for her, a few of the cameras had needed repair for a long time. They were broken, but it seemed that no one even cared.
The police officers were very busy and did not pay much attention to Fu Qing. After returning her things to her, they told her to leave.
Fu Qing hurriedly stopped one of them before he could leave. “Excuse me, where is the washroom?”
The police officer simply pointed at the corner of the stairs on the second floor before leaving.
After making sure no one was looking, Fu Qing quickly slipped to the blind spot of the surveillance camera.
As she was looking around, she noticed that the names, photos, and duty information of each policeman were pasted on the wall. As she scanned the photos, her eyes locked onto a familiar-looking policeman.
This policeman looked like one of the men who had kidnapped her that day, but she was unsure if he was under Zhan Leng.
This was it — she had to find out more about this police officer to help Zhan Qi.
She knew that it was standard practice for every department of the Public Security Bureau to have a small sign with the department name.
Fu Qing’s eyes sweeped the room and she finally what she was looking for in the corner — the archives room.
All the police information was in the archives room, but there was an another iron door outside the door of the archives room.
Without hesitating, Fu Qing reached out and tried to push the iron door. Suddenly, an alarm sounded from the entire floor, giving her a big fright.
“Catch that person!”
She trembled in fear, as her mind went blank.
Had she been discovered?
Before Fu Qing could react, she heard the sound of heavy footsteps clambering up the stairs. In the blink of an eye, someone had arrived on the second floor, followed by several police officers.
It turns out that they were trying to catch the man in front of them instead.
He was holding a dagger in his hand, waving it wildly as he rushed towards Fu Qing.
Fu Qing instantly knew that the criminal was planning to use her as a hostage.
As the criminal approached, she quickly kicked him square in the chest.
The unexpected impact made the the criminal stagger back a few steps. His body crashed heavily against the wall and he gasped.
Furious, he quickly dashed towards her and started slashing his dagger.
Just then, a large piece of cement fell from the roof and hit him the head.
The gangster’s pupils dilated and he passed out before he could even register what had happened. His body fell to the ground with a loud thud.
It all happened so quickly. Fu Qing could only stare in shock as she watched the police run towards them and handcuff the gangster..
