The Sparkle of A Lifetime - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: I’ll Be Right There
“How would I dare? Besides, no one is as pretty as my Yiren. My heart belongs to you. I’m yours.” Ji Hanjiang’s natural sweet-talk made Yan Yiren chuckle.
He truly did love Yan Yiren, but that love was now mixed in with something else.
Her determination to save herself for their wedding night was an issue. He was a man, a man with biological needs that need to be fulfilled.
It wasn’t possible for him to live an ascetic life.
Although he had felt guilty about it at first, it had gradually become the norm.
If she had been willing to give herself to him, he would have never sought the company of other women as an outlet to seek release.
Ji Hanjiang felt that the current arrangement allowed them to have the best of both worlds. She didn’t need to force herself to entrust herself to him before her wedding night. He also wouldn’t force her to do anything. While respecting her wishes, he could still get what he needed. What was there to be unhappy about?
…
After getting discharged, Yan Yiren rested at home for another two days before going back to work.
Now that her colleagues knew that she was the Ji Group’s President’s girlfriend, her female co-workers, who had previously given her nasty looks and who had deliberately excluded her, showed a 180-degree change in their attitudes.
Every single one of them fawned over her, afraid that she would say something bad about them in front of Ji Hanjiang and cause them to lose their jobs.
Yan Yiren didn’t have the energy to deal with these people. While she was in hospital, the team had already come up with the proposal for the advertising campaign they were collaborating on with Ji Group.
She was the person in charge of dealing with Ji Group. It was her responsibility to bring along some colleagues to present the proposal for the advertising campaign.
The Ji Group building was located in the CBD. The building stood majestically, its height towering over the surrounding buildings. The sunlight that reflected off the glass made the building sparkle. It was so dazzling that it could blind one’s eyes.
The person-in-charge of the collaboration with Ji Group was checked by Ji Hanjiang himself. Once she stated who she was, the lady at the reception led her respectfully to the President’s guest room and promptly informed the President.
The President’s office was extravagant yet classy.
Ji Hanjiang was sitting back in the office chair. With his jacket hanging off the back of the chair, he clasped a cigarette in one hand, his legs spread open. The smoke wafted through the air, and his eyes glazed over.
Ling Yunhuan was kneeling underneath his desk…
The phone in his office rang, Ji Hanjiang tapped on Ling Yunhuan’s head, and she stopped her ministrations. As Ji Hanjiang picked up the phone, there wasn’t the slightest waver in his voice. “What is it?”
“President, Yuan Jia is done with the proposal for the advertising campaign,” the secretary informed him. “Their team and the person-in-charge are now waiting in the guest room.”
Yiren was here?
Ji Hanjiang suddenly lost all desire. It was as if he had just been doused with a bucket of cold water. “I understand. Take them to the meeting room first. Entertain them, and I’ll be right there.”
“Yes, President.”
After hanging up, Ji Hanjiang moved to push Ling Yunhuan off, but she refused to let go. “Hanjiang, we aren’t done yet. What’s wrong?”
Trying to suppress his anger, Ji Hanjiang spat out his words, his voice tight. “Yiren’s here.”
Yiren?
Ling Yunhuan lowered her gaze, a devious look glinting in her eyes.
